If colt ends up on the hail mary with ryland, he loses Jody. If Jody somehow ends up there too, she never gets her dream of producing movies.

If court ends up on the hail mary, then he loses claire and she grows up alone. If she somehow ends up there, she wouldn't have the medical access she'd need for her heart.

If colt and court saved ryland, the earth would be doomed and ryland would forever feel guilty. As well, Rocky would most likely die in space alone, and erid would be doomed too.

If colt and court didn't save ryland, theyd lose their brother on a death mission.

So basically, this fandom took an alrightish happy ending to phm and went 'hmm... how can I make everyone suffer'
