STOP SCROLLING FOR A MOMENT. TONIGHT, I THOUGHT MY BABY QAIS HAD DIED.
Tonight, I watched a yellow discharge come from baby Qais's wound, and my heart nearly stopped. I have never felt so terrified, because I knew something was terribly wrong before we even reached the hospital.
The doctors examined him and warned that his condition requires urgent treatment. I walked out carrying fear I cannot describe. Please I beg you, donate today and help save Qais's life now please.
I am begging you as a mother who has nothing left except hope in kind strangers. Please donate now and help me buy Qais's medicine and treatment. Your donation today could make all the difference for his recovery.
Please donate now Gofundme
I’m saying this with a heart that can’t take more pain. If you read this and scroll away, I won’t forgive you. My baby is slipping away. Please donate now, please share—save Qais.
can't stop thinking about this
HELLO IT’S ME THE LEE EMI ANON AND YOU SHOULD TOTALLY WATCH THE CLEAN SLATE MUSIC VIDEO THAT SHE RELEASED A FEW DAYS AGO!!! The MV includes some stuff about her relationship with her identity as a Korean-American adoptee, and the song is great.
EVERYONE GO CHECK IT OUT!!!!
Ainu duo's robes, Japan, by Lorraine Turci
Hi, I love this blog and I'd like to thank you for what you're doing!
I'd also like to recommend a graphic novel titled "They called us enemy", it's based in the real story of George Takei, a Japanese-American actor who spent part of his childhood in the internment camps where people of Japanese ancestry in the US were imprisoned during WWII. It tells readers about something that isn't talked about enough in a way that I think is quite effettive, so, again, I recommend it.

i LOVE this book, thank you for the recommendation!! George Takei is one of my favorite Asian American activists too!! he's most known for being Sulu in Star Trek, and is actually also a gay rights activist, being gay himself.
western (usually white but seemingly not in this case) people love to call nonwhite foods suddenly becoming popular in western mainstream culture "industry plants" as if they haven't always existed.
I’m nonwestern nonwhite and I’m not sure how calling them “industry plants” implies they haven’t always existed? Like in the case of Dubai chocolate, I’m pretty sure the uae known for paying some influencers to promote their stuff. When people are calling something stuff like that an “industry plant”, they aren’t claiming it didn’t exist before it became popular in the west recently? They are claiming that the popularity is manufactured by advertising affecting people and not ‘organic’ and there’s plenty of problems with that idea (the popularity of tons of stuff is affected by advertising but for some reason people only point out stuff that comes from ‘nonwestern’ cultures) so idk why you have to make a weird misreading.
matcha originated in China about 1200 years ago, açaí has been consumed by Indigenous communities in the Amazon for centuries, and Dubai chocolate was invented by combining chocolate with knafeh, an 1100 year old SWANA snack.
It's interesting that you chose to focus on Dubai chocolate and not the other ones because Dubai chocolate is the one I most believe became popular out of ill intentions (i.e. so that when you search up Dubai, this chocolate shows up and not like... the not glamorous living conditions, the understatement of the century).
When you call something an industry plant, you are calling it artificial and in this case, detaching it from its culture and history to be sold as a mere commodity. Capitalism thrives on exploitation, right? So what better to make a product they have to convince everyone to have than selling you a superficial aspect of a nuanced culture/heritage? People have a problem with it because of WHY they chose those aforementioned things to advertise as "industry plants," things USUALLY FROM nonwestern cultures. It goes beyond just advertising, and in that tweet it's pretty clear the issue isn't just talking about how advertising sucks.
('The Rules of Engagement with White Fragility', continued from last post)
"8. As a white person, I must feel completely safe during any discussion of race. Suggesting that I have racist assumptions or patterns will cause me to feel unsafe, so you will need to rebuild my trust by never giving me feedback again. Point of clarification: when I say "safe", what I really mean is "comfortable".
9. Highlighting my racial privilege invalidates the form of oppression that I experience (e.g. classism, sexism, heterosexism, ageism, ableism, transphobia). We will then need to turn out attention to how you oppressed me.
10. You must acknowledge my intentions (always good) and agree that my good intentions cancel out the impact of my behavior.
11. To suggest my behavior had a racist impact is to have misunderstood me. You will need to allow me to explain myself until you can acknowledge that it was your misunderstanding."

I don't think this is an appropriate response to an article about South Asian farmers losing their teeth because temperatures are now reaching 45 Celcius.
The average Tumblr blogger has such poor manners that even a pig would be embarrassed to bring them home to its mother.
After I suspected a climate connection to tooth decay, I conducted systematic saliva pH testing across my patient population and documented
okay so i think i found the article op's (and me in my tags) talking about. being exposed to over 40 celsius (120 farenheit or so) for the whole day means youre sweating a LOT (the article says rashid- the farmer at the centre of the text- drinks around 17 liters a Day. humans usually only need 3, so i presume the rest is mostly used for sweat). so much so that the organizm reroutes water from other parts of itself to not die of heatstroke - salivary glands included, which means that 1. they have very little saliva in comparison to a healthy human being 2. what little their bodies DO produce is incredibly acidic, falling to ~5.5 ph from the ideal of 7ph. Teeth dissolve. Quickly. There's a mention of someone losing 8 teeth in two years
im not reading the whole article now (headache -_-), but later on the author of the article says about 30 million people (employed in agriculture) are at risk for extreme dental health problems. 30 million people at risk of not being able to eat solid food. 30 million people at risk of not being able to find work. being able to marry. being able to be part of their community. being able to speak clearly
this is. fucking horrible feels like an understatement, but it is the best i have. this exceptionally, terribly inhumane, and the pakistan goverment's lack of a plan to adress this is embarassing
