The more I think about it, the more I believe the divide in the Good Omens fandom right now is a philosophical one.

We’re asking, where does the soul live?

For those who think that who we are is shaped by a life time of experiences. That we grow and change with each each heartbreak and trauma. We see the ending as something horrible. We’re witnessing the death of our beloved characters and we are grieving for them.

For those who believe in a soul, who believe that Asa and Anthony are Aziraphale and Crowley because of the something intrinsic that lives inside them, what they’re seeing is a rebirth and a second chance. In that sense the ending is beautiful. They both get exactly what they’ve always wanted. To live as humans without the pressure of heaven and hell. In that sense, the ending is a joyous one.

Sadly these beliefs are deeply held, often the roots begin as far back as our childhoods. No amount of screaming at each other about media analysis is going to change anyone’s mind. Please just accept that there are multiple ways that one can view the ending and that those who are upset are experiencing grief. This is an extremely normal and valid reaction to end of something so meaningful and should be treated with care.

That said, your grief is not an excuse to lash out and those who don’t deserve it.

Be kind to each other.

honestly one of the best things we can do for ourselves is realize that people of different ages than us can still be the same kind of person as us. it's humbling and it gives everyone involved a sense of continuity, and it busts those stupid generational stereotypes media is so fond of.

Throwing some idea snippets for the GO3 Finale into the round (based on the things we saw so far).

What if in this scene Azi confesses his feelings but its also a goodbye?

Like the book of life is gone and now things are disappearing (and I guess people too?).

Azi and Crow are investigating, trying to fix everything, having their little adventure to repair their friendship again BUT even if they stop the source, the world is basically riddled with holes now.

And after stopping the second apocalypse Heaven + Hell probably still want to bash each others heads in and put the people on Earth in danger.

Again and again and again. Till one side wins.

Crowley is right, Azi can't change anything.

He can't change the minds of angels and demons and he can't stop the apocalypse.

So they've come to a decision

to reset/rewrite the timeline with a combined miracle and let go of this one. Nothing lasts forever, right? So Azi confesses his feelings, they have a heart to heart talking about the things they always wanted to say to the other because they both knew everything will be different as soon as they do the miracle.

Will they exist in this new timeline? Will they know each other?

When the new timeline happens all the people that disappeared are back. The world is back to normal, except there are no angels and demons, no Apocalypse and no supernatural powers anymore (exept maybe for God herself).

Just humans.

We see familiar faces again like Michael, Uriel, Sandalphon, Dagon etc. all being humans, not knowing they were once angels/demons.

And somewhere there is s little bookshop, owned by a kind, grey haired middle-aged man who welcomes another man with black outfit and red hair (not hellish red but natural ginger color).

This is where the story ends. Either with them meeting for the first time as humans and leaving it open-ended OR (a much better idea from a lovely person on Insta) it is a timeskip and they already found each other again, living a happy married life.

Maybe this is human Crowley picking up his husband and they drive back to their cottage. Maybe it even ends with the shot of the tree with A+C and a heart written on it.

This way we have the cottage and garden ending (it starts, as it will end, in a garden).

GO3 finale critique

What bothered so many fans — myself included — about the Good Omens finale, specifically with Asa and Anthony, was that the writers focused on the surface-level similarities between them and AziraCrow: the clothes, the color palettes, the styles, the shared interests like astronomy and books. But they missed the thing that actually defined them the most: their dynamic.

Regardless of whether the memory erasure should have happened, the ending still could have worked if the story had re-established Aziraphale and Crowley’s dynamic through these new human versions. I would have loved something like a recreated Eden scene, because that would have shown us that these characters are fundamentally the same people.

As it stands, their relationship feels more like a visual parallel than a continuation. I can intellectually understand the argument that they share the same “essence,” but emotionally it just doesn’t land, because the defining part of Aziraphale and Crowley is their history together — a relationship built on rivalry, dependency, affection, and thousands of years of mutual understanding. We don’t see any of that with Asa and Anthony or a familiar sign that that’s to come, which makes them feel more alien rather than like true extensions of the characters we know and love.

A disoriented and visibly rumpled figure emerges on a walkway beside a bench, the bench out looks a familiar pond with ducks. The figure looks about then overcome with exhaustion sidles over slumping into the weathered bench. “Well that went down like a lead balloon.” Says the before visually obstructed gardener kneeling to the left of the bench. Diligently clipping back the creeping foliage.
