Humans Are Disappointing | Elijah
Taylor briefly wondered if something happened given Elijah’s choice of words. But she found herself not bothering to ask purely out of respect, she didn’t want to pry. She was not like Rebekah. “Good, if you can keep that maybe I’ll tell you all my secrets.” She laughed softly before shaking her head. “Then again, you probably know more about me than I do.” She sighed softly at the thought of Rebekah and her…unusually large mouth. She loved her best friend, don’t be mistaken. Just..sometimes Rebekah should be more tight lipped with certain things. Then again her best friend also hinted that she was more Elijah’s type..but again – what did that mean? “Understandable I guess. I mean we only live together.” She muttered a tad sourly, but it was the teenager in her. If Rebekah was here Taylor could only imagine the foul things the female would say as if to boost up Taylor’s ‘girl points’ or whichever nonsense. It was something she never considered and honestly without Rebekah’s ‘coaching’ the blonde wouldn’t be as near ‘attractive’ as she was now. “Well it’s the first for a long line I’m imagining. They’re probably starting to see through the blonde hair and fancy clothes to the inner dork that I am.” She flashed a playful smile as they were outside now. “On the contrary, I think you’re the one with the luck. Mr. Mikaelson. After all, did you have anything more exciting to do?” She asked but wasn’t entirely sure if she wanted to know the answer. “I mean..” She bumped into an old habit. “Don’t get me wrong I’m sure we’ll have fun I just.” She fidgeted with her purse a tad. “Sarcasm is my second language, I’m sorry.” Rules? Hmmn. Taylor smiled softly and looked over Elijah’s face. “Try to have fun, you look like you could use it.” She hinted at the fact he looked miles upon miles of stressed out, but she would comment no more on it. “Oh..huh. So it’s like your trophy wife, but a car?” Taylor questioned with a twitch of her lips as her eyes ran over the fine vehicle. Someday she hoped to have enough money to afford her own. “To be fair it is quite nice.” She agreed as she climbed into the vehicle. Buckling her seat-belt the blonde soon turned her attention to Elijah. “Now my partner in crime, where are you taking me?”
"All of your secrets, hm?” Elijah questioned as he looked over at her with a hint of a smile. She likely was not wrong about how much he knew. Though he did his best to act as if there was nothing he should know, no matter that being a vampire meant sometimes one heard things they likely shouldn’t and that Rebekah had a little habit of spilling more just out of habit. It amused him, however, the way his sister just spoke as if everything in the world was common knowledge. “If that is the standard than it seems I need to spend more time with my brothers, and I can say, that is not something I am all that interested in.” He hardly cared how blunt he was being with his siblings. Anyone who spent time around them certainly could have felt the strain between all of them. Always there, never gone. Only seemed to increase with time. “Inner dork. I must admit I have not quite seen that side of you.” It only made him all the more interested. More so than he would be with anyone else, truthfully. So very few people actually interested him in any way. If not the circumstances he likely not would have spoken to Taylor much anyway. It likely wasn’t all that fair, but he was someone who was super into worrying about whether or not he was the kindest towards those. “I could have had something better to do.” Not that he did. Not that evening. He usually focused on business and trying to make certain his family was not in any immediate danger, but since Niklaus decided he needed to attend to that all on his own...well, Elijah didn’t think fussing himself over it was going to do any of them any good. He was quite interested in just how well Niklaus was going to handle it. If he was capable of handling it on his own at all. “I’m not easily offended.” It would take a myriad of harsh comments before he found himself irritable. Even then he knew how to act far crueler to another than he did himself. Something that Rebekah could certainly validate, as could Katerina. “I am not quite sure I would use that phrasing, but I do suppose the point remains.” Not that he held any interest in a trophy wife. At very least a car was practical, helping them blend into society, as if they were not thousand year old vampires. Elijah kept in mind that she told him to have fun the evening as he got into the car and buckled himself, turning the car and smoothly pulling out. “Now what would it be if I told you? Enjoy the surprise.”

“Don’t lump me in with your sister just because you think she’s insufferable,” Cora chided, eyes narrowed slightly. Snipping at each other wouldn’t yield the results she needed but damned if she didn’t try to get out some of her pent up frustration on a stranger. “And what am I? Just a girl taking a stop before passing through for a while.” Not a truth but not a lie. Half told truths with sprinkles of lies, a newfound talent of Cora’s since becoming an alpha of her own pack. “If you met him, he’s sour to anybody.”
“Hmm, I find you just as insufferable and it’s only been a few moments.” Elijah commented, unable to help himself. Rarely did he find any type of censor. It took him only a few moments before he realized just how he cared so very little for the girl and where she may have come from. “I’ll do my best to avoid him then.” Not that it seemed as if it would be all that difficult given how he seemed to be only interested in every speaking towards a select few.
WHICH GREEK GOD IS YOUR PARENT ?
TAGGED BY. @littlcstwolf TAGGING. xx
Your godly patron is Artemis, goddess of the moon, the hunt, wilderness, chastity, maidenhood, archery and childbirth.
Hunters are extremely close-knit and form strong bonds with those they hang out with daily. They will die for people who are just like them. You are probably very suspicious of outsiders, especially those who might harm your group. You are also mature, and often the voice of reason and calm to others. You have a natural talent for smoothing out discord, and you also give pretty sound advice. You also have a knack for getting out of trouble, the rare instances that you're in it that is. Artemis represents all that is wild and mysterious, and you might have distinct sides to your personality people are not usually privy to. Much like the Hunt/Moon duality of Artemis, Hunters of Artemis can be enthusiastic, athletic, and in-tune with nature; or they can be calm, soothing and mysterious. However, sometimes your perspective can be narrow, and when circumstances do not fit your unique view, you can brutally shut down the other person. When disrespected, you can become harsh and unforgiving.
Qualities: Maturity, protectiveness, camaraderie, reason, harmony, athletic, outgoing, wild, unforgiving

“Oh. I see, you care.” Taylor was not one to stray to fair from spilling the obvious, at least not with the Mikaelson’s. They were the only people who knew the truth behind her actions, behind the choices she had made. She was able to truly be herself when she was alone with them – or at least a more real version of her self that she hadn’t felt in a long time. Stiles was the only person she’d truly been able to let in, and we all know how that ended. “To be honest, and if you repeat this to her I’ll be cross..” Taylor gave a playful threat. “I think you’re right.” She murmured the words with a gentle sigh. “But to be fair..you’ve never truly given me a reason to think you were anything but..inadequate company for a night on the town.” She chose her words so they would be less insulting and more..quaint. “Hopefully tonight you’ll prove otherwise.” Was she challenging an original vampire? She probably was. God save the poor girl. The laugh which left Taylor’s lips was extremely amused as her eyes focused on Elijah’s face, but more preferably his jawline. Chiseled by a Greek god no less. “So what are you saying? I should spend more time with sophisticated vampires rather than teenage boys? I know I should aim for more mature Elijah but..” She trailed off giving him a wicked smile as they walked. “I like a man in a suit. Leaves more room for imagination.” She bit her lip as her words were more honest than she would have liked them to be in that moment. “No.” She lifted a dainty finger. “No talk of revenge or fighting or..god only knows. We’re going out to have fun, remember?” She chastised him lightly and walked through the door she gave him another small smile. “You’re welcome.” She walked across the concrete steps and made her way towards the originals cars. “Elijah..why do vampires even own cars? I mean..if you have super speed why not just..travel that way?” She found herself asking a random question and giving him a shy smile while waiting beside the door.
"I’m not completely like my brothers who ever only think of themselves.” Something that happened nearly all of the time...proven by how he desired to be as far away from both of them in the moment, all moments, truthfully. The tension ran high within the family, more so than usual. “I don’t think you’ll need to worry about that. It’s our little secret, I promise.” That and he and Rebekah were not on speaking terms, at the current moment. Why he bothered to even remain residing within the family home was unknown to him. Each time he strayed far something devastating happened and yet, nothing much better happened when they were all together, did it? Something to most certainly think upon. “I’ll have to do my best.” He smiled. Not exactly worried that by the end of their time together she would hold the same impression. “I’ve never seen a reason to.” She’d been around, yes, but she hadn’t exactly been someone he bothered spending much time with. Not when so much else managed to capture his attention. Perhaps something of a rude thought to just immediately dismiss her. He didn’t find himself worrying about as much as they were together then, finding they would enter a new level of their friendship. If they were truly friends. Yes, he would call it that. Though he wasn’t one to get along with many so when did he really know about the term? Hardly much at all. “I believe you should spend your time with those who do not stand you up.” He countered, his tone far more serious than the conversation at hand really needed. Elijah couldn’t help but think that she deserved more than to be abandoned because the boy either lost interest or didn’t have the ability to use a phone, phones in which nearly anyone under the age of twenty-five had their noses in more often than not. “You just got lucky spending this particular evening with me.” That Mikaelson charm they all held seemed to bleed out then, unable and unwilling to help himself. “I will keep that in mind.” His eyebrow raised at the blonde, “Any other rules I should know about?” It did make him wonder what exactly he was going to allow himself to speak of. His life was rather complicated. It wasn’t as if he went to school or had some sort of job. His entire life was immersed in the supernatural community and it could be quite difficult to stray from that, even with the likes of her. Her question caused a soft chuckle to escape from him. “I like to think of it more as a status thing than anything else. My car is quite expensive.” He used it more than he worried about super speeding everywhere.
Humans Are Disappointing | Elijah
Elijah Mikaelson was probably the most well mannered man of all times. Granted he could probably kill you in the blink of an eye, you had to admit the man had his charms. It was hard to believe how very different all the Mikaelson siblings were in comparison – it baffled her sometimes why Elijah even bothered to stay. But that was the way of their family, family was above all else. “Oh, I see. So you’re just taking pity on me tonight then?” She feigned offense to his words, but the twitching of her lips probably gave her amusement away. With a shake of her head the blonde ruffled her curls as she stifled a giggle. “You want brownie points for not being a boring human? Who knows..you might be a boring vampire. Then what shall I do?” She asked with a sigh of pure sarcasm. Blue eyes peaked back at the male over her shoulder and she gave him a small smile. As they walked towards the front door Elijah’s compliment made the human girls heart pick up an uneven rythme and she smiled a much more shy and simple smile – an April smile. “Thank you. I’d say you look handsome in a suit, but you’re always in formal wear.” She gave him a small smile, before murmuring. “Though I must say tonight you look rather dashing.”
"Now pity is not the word I would use. Rather seeing you disappointed is not something I am capable of taking in and not doing anything about.” If he was being more truthful it was likely more of a distraction as his family was irritating him in ways that he was just not in the mood to handle for much longer. Chaos was something normal and yet, all he wanted was to escape it. Even for a few passing moments. His eyes narrowed ever so slightly at her, not truly being annoyed by her words, yet, unable to help himself. “I think you have been spending too much time around Rebekah if you think I’m boring.” And fine, maybe he could say he didn’t lead the most adventurous life, but he didn’t think she wished to go around New Orleans murdering people like his brothers did. “At the very least I can promise you I’ll be far more entertainment than a teenage boy who probably has trouble spelling his own name.” He wouldn’t be him if he gave his all too honest opinion on those he’d never even met, nor would ever wish to meet. “The last time I chose not to dress in a suit, Davina ruined my shirt with her revenge, so I figure dressing in a suit is the safer of the options.” His words were given with a smile as they moved through the door. “Thank you, Taylor.”
Klaus wished for nothing more than to build this city into an empire ruled by them. Looking over it, protected and not bothered by others that hoped for their demise. A family that he could trust, but things were warped and abstract in the gallery of his mind, where he seen his siblings making alliances with the ones setting out to put them down. Doing things he would command them not. In this world of immorality and lies, he couldn’t even trust his own. “Rebek’er told me how your infatuation for this woman is blinding your better judgement, breaking your bonds to family, better not to keep you close,” he remarked with a surly look on his face. “I can only cast you out when your interests conflict with my plans to keep my daughter safe,” he would not trust. He would not be by his brother whilst he talked casually with enemies from their past. How could he be sure of Katerina’s innocence in this mess. How had she come back? She was only another suspect in his eyes. But he would never tell how it hurt to know of his brothers lost hope. It seems when she was taken, all hope for the evil Niklaus Mikaelson had dissipated with her missing presence. No faith. “And you still have yet to convince me you’re worthy of my trust,” he raised both of his hands with a crooked frown and untelling eyes. Klaus refused to show such feelings in awful times as these. “Your right, I’m capable all on my own,” alone. He was alone. Though he had Rebekah, and Elijah had been wrong about one thing. His daughter loved him. His broken daughter. Soon he would have back his hybrids. He wasn’t alone… not technically. “Your services are not needed, you serve a total of zero purposes.” This is what Elijah wanted, what all of them wanted… to be free of him.
It took everything within Elijah to keep his calm, which said something, as he was not one to ever dare to lose his temper. Not like his siblings did. Instead he was calm and collected, holding himself together, a change in breath finding him on occasion, but nothing much more. It was a struggle then, a struggle as his gaze narrowed at his brother and there were barely any words that could describe how he felt within the moment. He waited until Niklaus was done until he even dared to process anything. He had half a mind to punch him in the face, but no doubt it would end with an all out brawl and he didn’t need to be on a receiving end from Freya. As far as he was concerned the lines were instantly drawn and the only sibling he cared to be near was his elder sister. Interesting how that played out, given how never did he think a time would come in which he would wish to lean on someone elder. Yet, there he was. “I have never done anything to put this family in danger. Time and time again I stood by you while you took everything for your own amusement. I put this family first.” His words were calm, but cold and harsh, shaking his head in near disbelief. Maybe the family was broken and they could not repair themselves any longer, maybe it was how they were always fated to be and he was a damn fool for ever thinking otherwise. “I don’t owe you anything brother and I never have.” What he did know was he was going to bother fighting him. It would lead nowhere. Not as if his brother would ever admit he’d done anything wrong. Everything had some kind of justification. Always. No matter who it hurt he had a reason and if one didn’t agree in a box they went. “Enjoy your empire, Niklaus.” And just to be petty, as he could so often be. “Consider Katerina off limits, since I have so little judgement of my own. I am clearly not capable of making rational decisions. I would keep a closer eye on Rebekah, dear brother. With Stefan back...certainly she’ll do as she’s always done. Choose him over you.” His words were meant to cut and while it didn’t make him mature, he’d run into a nasty little habit of wanting his brother to feel pain for every pain he made others feel.
Humans Are Disappointing | Elijah
The blonde couldn’t help the smile which lit up her face. Something about seeing that smile on his face made her want to grin like an absolute idiot. Even though Taylor usually spent most of her time with Rebekah, she found herself enjoying whatever time was spent with Elijah more than the other male Mikaelson’s. Klaus was too..bipolar for her liking and Kol was, well..Kol. “I guess so.” Looking up to the roof she dramatically held out her arms. “Thank you universe.” She laughed before looking back to Elijah, one side of her mouth quirked up in an adorable smirk. “Oh look at you, already trying to plan my nightly events for tomorrow too.” She teased as she walked over towards him, even in heels she still wasn’t all to tall compared to him. “Besides..I choose to stay home. Humans are just boring.” She nudged the Original with her hip and smiled. “Alright, well..shall we?” She gestured for the both of them to leave.
In some ways she could remind him of Rebekah, ways that got him to smile in ways he normally didn’t. So often Elijah was on the more reserved side of things and kept to himself, even if he found himself entertained, it was small reactions. In other ways, she reminded him nothing of Rebekah. Certainly he couldn’t notice how his sister looked if she wore that dress. Not that he was particularly looking. “Maybe so I do not need to take pity on you tomorrow evening.” His words a simple tease, not feeling the truth in his words. Out of the company he usually kept there were worse things than spending his time with her. “Hm, I would have to agree. I should get far more credit for tonight then.” He gave a small shake of his head at the nudge of her hip against his own. After giving a nod he found himself moving towards the doors to the home, “You look lovely in that dress.” The words spoken with a smile as he held the door open for her.
FREYA MIKAELSON APPRECIATION WEEK ~ day 7: favorite relationship
Freya & Elijah and Freya & Rebekah
The answer given didn’t come as much of a shock. If she was honest with herself it was probably a bad idea to even ask in the first place. It only stirred up emotions that she wasn’t readily stable enough to handle at this specific moment in time, but instead of letting it show on her features Katherine just let it tear her insides apart. That would be easier to mend than what their last encounter forced her to deal with. Katherine was still completely broken after the screaming match outside the bar that day and yet she wouldn’t let it affect her now. Even if Katerina thought and pushed herself to ask the question so that maybe she would break down again only to drive them apart because her worth hadn’t been determined one way or another yet. Katherine wanted so desperately for all of this to be some sort of fictional illusion brought on by the demons in the hell dimension. Maybe it was… Somehow it would make things better, but just knowing that made her believe in the reality of just how far things had drifted apart for them. Katherine would always love Elijah, as much as she could possibly allow herself to love anyone when her selfishness was most prominent, and for that reason alongside the latter mention she would always hold onto that sliver of hope that someday they would find their way back to each other. Not in this strangely comfortable sense either… Because while it was nice; hell it was more than just nice, but Katherine desired something far more and even though Katerina didn’t think she deserved it she’d be lying if she denied that same progression down the line with anyone other than Elijah. “What if they already have? I lost myself so long ago,” Katerina spoke weakly, but her eyes didn’t move from their fixated position on the streetlights and the bright rays that bathed the dark tared pavement of the streets. “All that remains are my sins. Is there no hope?” The word alone triggers something and Katherine’s flinching. “Nevermind,” Eyes averting to her lap as she continued to play with her thumbs. “I don’t want to, can we just… Just forget I said anything.” Despite her efforts to remain cool and collected she cracked. Straight face unable to hide the nervous tone her voice held now and she’s trying beyond all reason to keep her lip from twitching, but there was a chill that shot down her spine that wouldn’t let the guilt physically leave her damn body. “She’s better off without ‘em,” Katherine commented harshly. The remark about Stefan caused a pang in her chest that she actively ignored to refrain from become emotionally overwhelmed. “As for that, I’m sure either Klaus will find a way to put an end to it or Rebekah will screw it up all on her own. Either way… It’s bound to get messy and you shouldn’t get involved.” Not that Elijah had to worry about his survival in regards to his siblings, but seeing as Klaus hasn’t paid her a visit yet she assumed that he’d made good on his word and kept her dark secret to himself. So in return she offered some advice with strong undertones of a plan to keep her own promise “That’s ruthless,” Katherine said releasing a light puff of air “I’d have thought you to respect the Salvatore’s in some regards.” mainly Stefan, but she didn’t say that out loud. The subject was shrugged off her shoulder in the next passing moment “So what… You’re just willing to accept it as fact and now you’re going to move on without considering solutions? Don’t be vain, Elijah,” Katherine hadn’t meant ill will. She knew that he was smart and had good reason to boast on his abilities, but she also knew that if rumors had been true… The Originals could be killed. Klaus alone had more enemies than she’s ever made and over the centuries she’d made a few hundreds. While noting that a worry settled in the pit of her stomach and revealed that as much as she hated the bastard she couldn’t bare the idea of the loss. Maybe it was selfishness which drove this. Katherine aimed hatred at him for so many years and if he was suddenly gone before she’d gotten her fill of a pointless revenge she was to drop after their last conversation… There would be nothing else she had to live for, but a brief thought passed in which Klaus had been removed from the picture. The life she could have with the original beside her was played out in the theater of her mind and yet still no happiness was found. If his brother died — a breathy laugh sounded, finally Katherine realized the error in what she’s gone and done. Recalled back to said night when she’d told Stefan that should he let Klaus die, Damon would die alongside him… Katherine turned Klaus into an irredeemable monster and hadn’t equated that previously. Now it made sense. Klaus was just a man. Someone that she once knew and someone that Katerina surely remembered… Dark natures tainting what little memories she made with him before the rotten truth was revealed to her all those years ago. Katerina’s attention was fully caught and she’s got her eyes fixed on his form “Have it your way then, Elijah. I was just offering a practical and simplistic method to keep him busy while I worked to find a solution encase what I’ve heard rings true. I’ll just have to be quicker about it though. Oh! I got an idea… I’ll have my lapdog work holidays and weekends to pick up on the slack,” Katherine used a tone which implied she was teasing, but extra hours would be added to fit Parrish’s jam packed schedule. There wasn’t any part of her that cared if Elena lived or died. Not after she fed her the cure and not so much before that really either, but despite how self conscious it made her feel to know that he’d cared for Elena in even the smallest Katerina tried not to focus on being thought of as Tatia in the eyes of the man she’d loved. “You aren’t even the slightest bit worried, are you?” Katherine swallowed down thickly. “You— uh, is everything alright?” Clearly their last conversation had been proof he was not “Did I um… I mean, um. It was me, wasn’t it? I did this.” part of the girl blamed herself, but deep down the demon knew something more sinister was at play. Regardless it was far too blood a question for her chocolate hues to find his, heart beating rapidly in her chest.
There would always be things that they did not agree on. It was nothing new. For as long as Elijah could remember they were opposites of the same coin, things held them together, while other things tore them apart. Exactly how they found themselves in the situation to begin with, where they weren’t lovers, yet, not quite true enemies. He did not think that they would be enemies. Not truly. Not the way his siblings formed their own opinions of her. He never did, never thought of her in such a light, where there was nothing good in her. His words spoken were more of himself than anyone else, unable to see the truth of what exactly he was. Times came in which he wished he could be a different kind of man, but it was nothing that he was truly allowed to be. No, he was as he was and there was no going back. “It is not just you, Katerina.” He told her calmly, not wishing that she believed he was only speaking of her. He wasn’t. More or less he spoke of himself, while also being able to apply the words to her. Something within him felt more cold than he could remember feeling, withdrawn almost, as if something had just broke within him and it was far more difficult to care. He’d never been emotional, not like any of his siblings. He never acted out as Kol did, never ranted and raved as Niklaus, never got too emotionally invested and cried at being challenged as Rebekah did. He was not the small boy who was attached to his mother or father, he did not allow himself to love readily. The amount who had managed to steal his heart remained on one hand and there was nothing he would do in order to change that. But there, it was as if the truth didn’t bother him, as if he was all too pleased in simple taking things as they came, unworried and unbothered by so much. Perhaps he was just waiting for the series of dominoes to find him and leave him as he was. Or maybe his siblings had pushed one time too many and it was as if he could just couldn’t be bothered any longer. When they needed him he would be there, but until then, he was too pleased in just sitting there, hands in lap, speaking with Katerina as if the world was going to implode within the coming moments and there was absolutely nothing either of them could do. Something that very well could have been true. “I have no plans to get involved. Some of us do not act like teenagers in romantic matters.” It was a slight at nearly everyone he kept around him, including Katerina. Something he held no apologies for. He didn’t care who spent their time with who and when. It mattered so little to him who Rebekah kept in her bed, or who Elena did. Not as if they truly effected him in any way. “I would think my previous threats would be considered ruthless, not that I do not care more for them.” He couldn’t even pretend to comprehend why it would matter his opinion. “Stefan is alive because of my siblings. Some reason they have taken a shining to him, ripper tendencies and all. Damon relies entirely on Elena and is unable to find some form of decency, no matter how hard he tries to convince everyone he doesn’t want to murder every pretty young girl he sees just for fun. Or perhaps it is an act, much like with Kol. Either way I do not need to clean up messes for two. At least Kol is blood, justification enough. Or perhaps, I should respect you took them both to bed and they were stupid enough to fall for you as if you were the sun. Maybe, it’s allowing history to repeat itself in falling for same woman again. If that all makes me ruthless than so be it.” He likely should have controlled himself but he found her words to be utterly ridiculous. “Perhaps you need to sleep with one in order to realize their potential. I hold no interest in either.” Sometimes he could be a little too petty for his own good. “If death is to come, then it does.” While he truly did enjoy his position of power, to be one of the most powerful beings in the world, he couldn’t help but wonder if they lived too long for their own good. Not that he was going to get himself killed, but maybe then they would be absolved of their sins. Why he was feeling an edge more...too calm to care, he wasn’t entirely sure, yet, would blame Niklaus near instantly if she pressed on. “Yes, thank you. I will consider allowing my brother to torture the poor human girl.” The sarcasm was evident and if it was someone else he would have agreed with her. Only he did actually care for the well being of Elena. It was a battle he had to choose, but he did wish that nothing happened to her because his brother wanted something. Elijah did not have many limits, but some did exist. Some that kept him from giving into the opinions of others completely. His eyes rolled at her words and tone, not that he was entirely unamused. “Hope you’re paying him overtime,” he countered, taking a brief moment for the sake of not allowing everything to be doom and gloom. “What am I supposed to be worried about? We know so very little. I am not going to waste my energy. When my father held a stake to my chest, or when my psychotic aunt was taking revenge against us for something our mother did, it was hardly worth the moments. You cannot waste your time in a frenzy if you hold little information.” He remembered hardly worrying over Silas when he held the cure, as well. After a thousand years he took to pick and choose his battles, when the threat became more apparent, when they knew anything that could bring them closer to a situation he would allow himself to worry more. It hardly helped his siblings were seemingly Hell bent on keeping everything to themselves. “You didn’t help, that was for sure.” His blunt words came with a shrug, casting a look at her. “My siblings have seemingly decided they would much rather keep to themselves. Not that I have ever done anything to put this family in danger. Hardly surprising why Kol acts out as he does when living in his own little world.”
Anyone who knows Damon wasn’t oblivious to what had cause Damon’s soured mood. He was actually quite more content as he sat there drinking his bourbon then he previously had been when he had first arrived to New Orleans. It was because he had a plan— like always, but he was waiting to act on it. He knew Stefan or anyone wouldn’t approve of the plan, but he was going to do what he had to do to make Elena Fall back in love with him. Damon actually enjoyed Elijah’s company— even if it was normally on a needed basis. Unlike the rest of the Mikaelson family. Damon preferred not to fight with Elijah. Damon was curious on what was making Elijah so suspicious of him, he was planning on finding out as soon as he could.
“Being alone is probably the best thing for me, so I don’t have to hear anyone else ask me how I’m doing.” Damon said simply, “Because everyone already knows that answer.” Damon knew that Stefan probably wouldn’t think that it’s the best idea to be alone, Damon disagreed and would do what he wanted. The eldest Salvatore would choose the company of bourbon over anyone else any day. “I think you’re confusing me with my brother. Is it so hard to believe that I could actually have a grip on things? I am getting it from Stefan, Rebekah, and Elena herself— can’t we just sit her over a bottle of bourbon and not discuss my former eating habits?” Damon questioned even though he knew the truth which was something that he wanted to keep hidden for his well being, “and I am dealing with that too— my way Elijah.” Damon said before taking another drink of bourbon.
Sometimes he could see himself in Damon, but it was not a thought he held any desire to vocalize. He did not like to think of himself as to having anything in common with either of the Salvatore brothers, no matter certain events could easily mirror with himself and Niklaus. He took great amusement in thinking of his brother needing to be compared with someone so much lesser than himself, however. A striking difference had certainly been Elijah was never much for self destruction, instead all too willing to have the pain burn within him, never getting what he desired, not truly. Far less emotional than the elder of the Salvatore brothers, he almost reminding him of a slightly more controlled version of Rebekah. Another sibling he did not think would look kindly upon the comparison. When he bothered acting like a therapist he didn’t know.
“I would ask you, but I find I don’t actually care.” A harsh truth, but he didn’t think Damon would be all that offended. Not when he was entirely too certain he wouldn’t care about his own personal life. They were hardly friends. He didn’t see Damon as an enemy, not within the moment, and if it came down to it, he likely would not allow for him to die, but friends they were not. “Is your brother back in his ripper ways? I believe if he were making a mess my brother would be first in line to be his best friend once again.” There was a slightly bitter tone to his words, knowing how much his brother valued whatever he held with Stefan. He chose to drink that thought down rather than worry himself over it. “Hm, have it your way, Mr. Salvatore. Know if you do step out of line, I will not hesitate to take the threat out.” A casual comment, one that he would most certainly act upon if given the chance. “Just know one girl is not a reason to have your life unravel.” Even if that one girl was Elena, someone he would consider worth it.
✥ The silence speaks a thousand words || Elijah & Elena
Elena had noticed a change in him, and it was mostly probably to do with what had happened. She was neither offended nor placing the blame, he had kissed her, however he was not in the right frame of mind. Elena knew that Elijah simply did not just do things without reason, for he spoke for his actions. Though the shift in the air confirmed for her that something else was bothering him. Elena wouldn’t particularly say she knew Elijah so well, she would say that she’s learned a few things while being in his presence. Out of all the Mikaelson siblings, he understood her situation, her story and he listened before making any kind of decision. That is what made her respect Elijah above all other siblings. He was a noble man of his word, and family was everything. She’d protect Jeremy just as the Salvatores would protect one another. Elena wanted the best for Elijah, because he deserved it.
Again, the silence spoke for itself, he did not answer her, and that was enough to tell her that he was troubled. His wisdom and knowledge were his best traits, always having a way with words that wraps around an individual with advice far beyond anything. He was a thousand years old, he’s seen life and the world and she saw him with an open heart and mind, it was her compassion that was a gift. He said. Elena’s warm brown hues softened at his question as she looked over at him. “I’m sure, it doesn’t make me see you any different Elijah.” her voice soft but firm, to let him know that she meant what she was saying. “Are you okay?” she asked once again, because it truly concerned her how he was feeling.
There was always something about Elena...the way they were able to speak more freely. Even with her no humanity judgement he didn’t respect her opinions any less. She reminded him of himself on occasion, thought had handled her life considerably better than he handled his own. She stuck to her own morals and his had slipped away. Either that or he had loose ones to begin with. Likely the truth, remembering when he was nothing but a small boy that there was no anything he wouldn’t do in order to save his siblings. He loved them dearly and as long as they were alright...then he could do whatever it was he needed to. His mother turning him into a vampire only managed to skew his thinking even more so into believing what he was doing was right. A strict difference the two had, he thought. No matter they would both do whatever they needed to for family, some ended up dead because it was simply easier.
Deep down Elijah appreciated that there was a continued understanding between the two of them and that they were able to continue on as they did without things taking too far of a turn. She’d been so compassionate and even with certain memories absent, it seemed. He held a few thoughts concerning Damon in regards to that but chose to keep such words to himself. Not finding he cared enough to vocalize anything. “I’m fine.” He answered after what most definitely felt like it was too long of a silence. He knew that his words were far from the truth, but to admit to such things would be to admit to things he was not ready for. No matter how much he knew them to be truth. He swallowed, glancing over at her only briefly. “Are you aware of Katerina’s newfound existence?” It was a not so subtle conversation change, yet, something he wished to make certain she was not blindsided by. No matter neither doppelganger could understand it...he did not wish for either to harm the other.
Humans Are Disappointing | Elijah
Taylor wasn’t entirely sure what Elijah meant by that but she flashed him a smile. “A real lady killer aren’t you?” She asked playfully, meaning more along the lines of someone like Johnny Depp or Tom Cruise – every woman’s fantasy come true. She laughed softly in agreement before shaking her head. “I honestly didn’t even want to go out with him, he’s not my type at all. But I figured why not shake things up a bit?” She asked the rhetorical question with a quick roll of her eyes. “It’s whatever. He probably would have talked about the god awful sport all night anyways.” She gave Elijah a warm smile, clearly she was more eager to go out on the town with Elijah than some immature football head who would try to go to 3rd base with her. “I guess so.” She smiled up at the male before her, sometimes it was hard for her to remember they were all vampires. They acted so human. “Sounds good to me. I didn’t get dressed up to sit in the house and watch TV on a Friday night.” She trilled in a happy tone of voice as she stood up. “Where are we going? Or is it a surprise?” She asked while reaching for her purse with an excited smile.
“I suppose you could say that.” Of course the comment was far more darker for him than he let on, but in the presence of Taylor he really held no desire to think of the darker moments of being a Mikaelson. When he was around her she didn’t remind him of something he wished to forget. Instead she was able to make him smile and he enjoyed her company. Quite a lot, actually. Nothing he spent copious amounts in, but that night he was willing to see exactly where the night took them. Spontaneous, he was not, but with as sad as she looked...only a very stupid man could leave her there to sulk. “It seems that the universe did you a favor then.” Easily allowed the conversation about the faceless boy to fall to the wayside, hardly anything he wished to discuss. “Perhaps that can be tomorrow night’s activities. Would hate to break too far from habits.” A soft tease, a smile accompanying his words. “I was thinking we could see where the night takes us.”
When it all started to boil down to a point Katerina found it difficult to keep her eyes fixated on the man and his broken spirit. Blame that could only be placed on herself for having put him through a Quin centennial of pain and misery. Selfishness exceeded all when she became a vampire and Katherine flipped her switch to lose the guilt that accompanied having abandoned Elijah, but after she found her family slaughtered there was no use in pretending that she couldn’t feel anymore. Punishment for having been so heartless was long past due and from there on she never turned it off again. Everything was amplified to a maximum and this included an insatiable hunger for revenge in regards to all that she’s lost. More than anyone her age ever should… Katerina’s sense of self was gone. Had there been a part of her that was glad to know the demon who truly plagued her was put in his place at last? Of course there was, but it wasn’t as strong as the overwhelming regret she felt as his dark eyes locked with hers and she witnessed all the ghosts from their histories past swimming endlessly inside chocolate hues. There was no escape and no hope for a future. It was made clear in the stories he told, but she couldn’t help feeling like if she erased those sins and fell to her knees; bowed down before the merciful God she came to view him as and begged for a forgiveness that she might never deserve than perhaps she wouldn’t have reason to feel so distant when sitting right beside him. “We’re ageless,” Katerina began. Fire climbed up her throat in thick chunks that swallowed down painfully “Does that not matter, do we not have choices and opportunity to make things right?” Katherine took advantage of Elijah’s forgiving nature, but Katerina didn’t want that. The demon that blackened her soul and shared her physical body thrived off the chaos created whenever she was around the elder Mikaelson. His own distress feeding into the darkest parts of herself. Whoever that was. Doppelgangers had been cursed since the dawn of time to feel a lack in self understanding, but this had spanned over centuries and it left her split in two. Multiple personality disorder. There was Katherine, and Katerina, but only the man next to her seemed to bring out the latter. Not unlike traveler magic the conflicted brunette had a passenger — a third half to complete her as a whole, the demon. Hitchhiker. It wasn’t as much a part of her as it should’ve been and she gathered that much was because of her special blood, but more or less it still affected how she acted during certain points. The two had known each other better than she had known herself and it was as if she’d always possessed the essence. Eyes now focused on the movements of her fingers as her stomach turned. Katherine didn’t see what in the world she could have possibly said to gain a laugh, but hearing it again caused an instantaneous smile to befall her features as she shyly looked up to him through darkened lashes. For the moment in which Katerina was taken aback the idea of what it would have been like should the suited original chose to accept her invitation to Europe was entertained. Mornings would be spent under thin sheets as the light from their balcony window poured in to bathe their bare flesh in sunlight. Fine wines, solace at his side and the constant laughs just like the beautiful one that broke the uncomfortable silence after she’d asked her questions. If only it could be that easy. “So it’s true then, huh. Elena’s memories got wiped clean? Here I thought it was just an act after she’d come to realize Stefan was the better choice.” There was a confident roll of her shoulders, but her eyes didn’t move. It was uncomfortable speaking about the Salvatore’s with Elijah though she didn’t catch a hint of jealousy so there was the lingering presumption that he didn’t care that burned nicely with the desire inside the fibers of Katherine’s immortal being to make him and yet it was snuffed out quickly by the need to ease his mind. “I know that, but I also know of a breed that requires a different kind of blood to make a new kind of monster. Something more dangerous and twisted. I’ve heard rumors that it’s capable of wiping out the old ones entirely, but if that’s not just some kind of fabricated story than it means you’re in danger too.” Katerina went on a search the night after their horrific argument outside the bar and found what seemed to be a tale of hybrids born throughout centuries. Niklaus might have been the first of his kind, but those not bound by the sun and moon curse had previously found a way around dying gruesome bloody deaths. “These werewolves are turned by a true alpha’s blood, Elijah. Much like a doppelganger these occurrences aren’t often, but you’re going to have to really trust me when I say this… Letting Klaus squander his time with Elena’s blood is better than leaving him to find what power comes from these other breeds. Illyria isn’t going to be an easy target, but if there’s another way, I’m going to find it.”
It wasn’t often that Elijah wished he had answers. More often than not he had them, or at least, he had the ability to find them. When it came to Katerina he never did. For as well as he could think he knew her, he never did know her as well. He wanted to, however. No matter what a part of him always wanted to be able to know her as well as he knew himself. Of course, with himself, it seemed she knew answers long before he ever did. Only coming to truly understand the desire for a facade as hsi mother tortured him. He always had one and for that, he could not blame her. Never quite did even if it seemed otherwise. He only wanted her to not hide completely from herself. Something Niklaus said to him before had managed to stick with him. If there was hope for his brother, surely there was hope for himself. Only that managed to apply more to Katerina than Niklaus, before everything had fallen to pieces and he found himself living in New Orleans, while she lived and died within Mystic Falls. As he sat on that bench he only believe for things to be far more cynical than before. He was not someone with much hope left, not when the darkness existed within himself so readily that it was so very difficult to see the happier sides, the one where the world wasn’t existing as if there was some sort of dark cloud handing over them all. If only. Instead, they were all made to believe the world was full of something that could not possibly exist. For as much as he loved his niece and how she seemed to bring a light to their family, he was all too aware such did not apply to him. There was nothing that could save him, change him into the man that perhaps he should have been. Time and his parents twisted him into a darker version of himself, something he could never escape from, and nothing that he would. He felt little guilt for holding onto the secret of Katerina’s involvement. Perhaps one day the truth would come to light and no apology would fall from his lips for not disclosing the truth to his siblings. She was one of the few people he held as close as he did his siblings. Through everything the love he held for her did not die, never, only remained deep within him. For centuries he cared about her far deeply than he should have. Even during his angriest moments he did not wish her dead, only wished her alive, to live and perhaps, one day the right timing would find them. It never did. Maybe it never would. But as he was there with her, he easily found that there was no other place that he really wished himself to be. “No,” he finally answered her. “We cannot make things right, we cannot be absolved of our sins. The only thing we can do is try to accept our wrongs and hope that they do not impact our lives so greatly they become everything we are.” He was one who forgave nearly everything, but not anything that was forgotten. When he looked at his brother he saw every sinful deed he’d ever done and was all too easily reminded of them. Elijah did not use them against his brother, but it was not as if they never existed at all. When he looked at Rebekah he saw how she put them all at risk for her own happiness. It was different to acting as if nothing was ever done. He didn’t think true forgiveness even existed. “They are,” he commented with a nod, “Stefan has seemed to be spending his time with Rebekah. We’ll see how long that lasts.” Even when tensions were high he loved his sister dearly, but also completely aware of how hot and cold she could be with ones she deemed to be worthy of her time. “Neither Salvatore brother is worth anyone’s time. You, Elena, and Rebekah have poor judgment.” He spoke as if it was simple fact, rather than his own opinion. “I’ve always been in danger.” He spent his life always being in some kind of danger of losing his life and he truly did not think that it was anything that was going to happen anytime soon. He was perhaps a little too confident that he was not going to lose his life, but that was his nature. He’d come close to being killed by his own father, one more ounce of pressure, his aunt doing no batter, and yet, he was alive enough to attempt to control the chaos his family found themselves in. “I know you hardly care for the girl, but to let her suffer in order to keep my brother from getting into trouble is hardly fair. He’ll find out as much whether it is now or in six months time. To allow Elena to suffer is as cruel as anything.” He cared for the most recent doppelganger and no matter that he knew Katerina wouldn’t take kindly to as much, he hardly stopped himself from explaining that he couldn’t simply allow her to suffer. “I suppose time will tell if there is another way.”
Humans Are Disappointing | Elijah
Blue eyes scanned over the male before her as he approached where she was sat. “A babe like you doesn’t have a date on Friday night?” Taylor asked with a teasing smirk. Then again when Taylor thought about it she never saw any of the Original men with dates. Well, except for Kol and Davina. But that was a special type of excuse she could allow. The small smile which crossed her face at his words had her look over her attire before back up at Elijah. “So do I. I mean, what’s a captain of a football team worth in this city anyways?” She asked with a slight roll of her blue eyes. To be fair – she thought lacrosse was a much better sport. She didn’t care – but she was certainly going to ruin the males life at school on Monday. If she didn’t then it would just be a waste of perfectly good opportunity. Elijah’s offer had Taylor’s face turn up eagerly. “Sure.” She found herself sitting up on the chair she was in, giving him a full smile. The red lipstick she wore caused her blue eyes to practically glow, and she tilted her head. “That is of course if you’re worthy of my time.” She teased.
Hearing the word babe come from her mouth in relation to him only caused a soft chuckle, the Original giving a shake of his head. “Not to put a damper on this but most do not live very long. I think it’s only fair to leave someone in the city alive.” His words were light no matter the subject matter. After so many centuries he was used to his brother causing trouble for him, and everyone else around them. “I am certain a football player isn’t worth anything in any city.” He’d never favored teenage boys and that was true as he was standing there, wondering why she would even bother herself with such boys. Not that he gave his opinion, given it was hardly his place, and if she was content on her company...well, he might judge her choice in company, just the slightest. “Mm, we’ll just have to see if I prove to be worthy then, won’t we?” He questioned, a small smile forming upon his lips. “Though in an effort to prove myself I will begin by suggesting we live the confines of the compound. Niklaus can easily ruin anyone’s night just with his presence.”
“So what brother? I need fixing because I don’t measure up to your level of virtue,” Klaus was tired of the talk.. Being told what he’d done wrong. It had been all things he’d heard several times before. He was the one that controlled.. The one that conquered, he rolled his eyes before stepping ever closer hands held together in front of him. “So disillusioned, if I should seek your guidance I’d be walking straight into the blade of my most formidable enemy,” with all going on.. He knew what he needed to do, what he needed to be, and even if he was penned in as the heartless man that could not love. He knew the truth. It was love for family, love for his daughter.. He was the only one who had the answers. The only one that knew what need be done. “What a profound motive you’ve given my madness.. So much faith in your blood,” it seemed no one was willing to believe the truths he spilled, though he didn’t mind. No matter what they all thought of his ‘reckless’ behavior. Truth be told, he could ask Rebekah.. Get all that Elijah had said, but he wanted to make it a point in confronting him. Maybe stories wouldn’t match. “I do fancy lighting fires, the way things burn to ash,” he taunted, set in his thoughts of believing his brother to have more feelings than he even should know himself. “I’m sure she’s use to the flames of hell by now, I should pay her a visit.. Where is it she’s holed up these days?”
“Any level of virtue.” The words came out instantly and Elijah didn’t bother to censor himself on the issue. Whatever good he thought his brother was capable of had been gone for months and he’d tried his best to see otherwise, but he didn’t have much luck in such an area. Not when everything seemed to be skewing his view of his siblings entirely. He didn’t need Niklaus to be an angel, only better. Through everything he still punished everyone he thought needed to be punished and that was that. Why would he continue to believe he could change when the only reason he was even pretending to hold control was because of his grief. “No, please, do whatever you need to do. I won’t disturb you, since you seem all too eager to cast me aside.” He’d truly hate to interrupt his brother and his little plan. Whatever it may have been. “You haven’t earned my faith.” Elijah cared little for how harsh such words sounded, but there he was, unable to help as the words slipped out. The resentment he held for Niklaus for the past months only managed to build. He was not going to allow his little brother to guilt him over things he’s done and thought for centuries. “That one you will have to figure out on your own. You haven’t needed me before, you do not need me now.
