My Thoughts On If I Should Get A Switch 2
It's been over a year since the Switch 2 was announced, and in June it will be a year since it's been released. And throughout this entire time I've been avoiding it like the plague. But I never shared why I didn't want to get the system. A few minor things to note. I didn't have an issues for the price of the system. It was a little higher than what I was expecting, it's whatever. Other than that I thought they would of called it the Super Switch than the Switch 2. At least they didm't call it the "New Nintendo Switch" Much like everyone else I was super excited to finally see the Switch 2, and what games I can look forward to. Unfortunately my disappointment crept in the more I kept watching. Only having two games and everything else is already out on other systems wasn't doing it for me. In fact it makes me think that the S2 should of came out a year earlier. On top of that I was a bit confuse on the game key cards. I thought that we were downloading games from the e-shop onto the card itself. Not just having the game download on to the system, and then having to use the game card to be able to play said game that's already on the S2. I think it is one of those ideas that is somewhat good, but also somewhat bad. As someone that prefers to have physical games. The game key cards is a big pass for me. If I have to get a game digital, then there's no point in the key card. When showing of the S2, I was hoping that they would go more into the new joy-cons. Considering that the S1 had a class-action lawsuits on the analog sticks drifting. Maybe they didn't want to bring any attention to it. But I think it should of been addressed during this presentation. The fact that I had to wait, just so I can see a teardown video. Just to confirm that these sticks are just bigger and nothing else was a disappointing to say the least. Especially when there's new analog stick technology like Hall Effect & TMR already being used. Maybe in the next system. But something they did focus on was the C button, or rather game chat. Honestly I don't care about this Discord ripoff, that cost money to even use. I know when this first came out, it was free for a limited time. At this point you need the NSO Membership, just to use this feature. And not to get too deep into this, but I don't believe that things like this should be behind a paywall. And all three consoles do this. During this presentation, they mention a lot of little things that doesn't mean a lot to me, but others might fine to be important. Like 4k and HDR. These mean very little to me. Even the backwards compatibility, which is something I do like. Wasn't the biggest thing for me. In fact it made me angry for different reason. Cause some of the S1 Games got additional content, that only available on S2. So I can pay an upgrade feed or get a S2 version of said game. No DLC for the S1 version. And I did get the S2 version, it's more expensive. The only other thing that a little annoying are these new SD cards. Cause only having 256GB is not enough space. But for the S2 you need a microSD express cards. At the time these were also expensive, and I have no idea if the prices have gone down on them. I'm talking about all of this, for a few reasons. 1. in Sept. the price of the S2 is going up to $500USD 2. I wanted to share my thoughts that been bouncing in my head for all this time. Cause 3. I am considering on getting one. But I'm not 100% sure on it. I love me some Starfox, but is it worth getting a Switch 2. Maybe / Maybe not. I still have time to make my mind up.
