TL;DR of the following: Don’t get caught on camera, and be fucking careful.

Don’t get yourself sent to jail for assault and battery over a Natzi. Remember, that the law does not see right in wrong in an entirely morally guided way. According to the law this would be assault and battery without cause.

Basically they could press charges with “This guy punched me in the nose because I sat next to him on the bus” they could pull the tape, see the Natzi break 0 laws, and see you attack it. I’m sorry but in court the Natzi would win that.

I wonder, what about other criminal organizations that where their symbols as clothing or tattoos? Such as the Aryan brotherhood, perhaps? You might find yourself in a bad situation clocking a member of the Aryan brotherhood because you saw his swastika tattoo. They don’t have to look good since they’re a full on gang and not a ‘‘‘political party’‘‘ They will fuck you up… so yeah be fucking careful who you’re punching they might hit back.

Because it happened. Tearing them down will not stop the people in the past- who have now been dead for years- from liking the person. It can ONLY serve to prevent future generations from having just a little bit more insight into the past. We should understand how we used to think evil was ok, and in many ways we still do.

We NEED these statues to remind us that ‘hey, evil people can have followings of people who think they are right.’

Two, Tearing down history is EXTREMELY disrespectful to veterans of both sides of the war.  I know its hard to wrap your mind around the idea that a knee-jerk reaction is wrong but the cival war was not about slavery. I know thats the narrative, but that is not the case. Even if it was, trying to sweep that part of our history under the rug is HUGELY disrespectful to thoes you claim it offends. To just say ‘No it didn’t happen’
