It’s cuter when you recognize that the lion with visible spots is a juvenile. There’s a very high chance the other lion that runs over to investigate is the MOTHER.

The first lion is asking for comfort because she was given a big spook!!! and she needs mommy to tell her it’s safe and ok!!!! (What’s cuter is that mommy clearly reassures her, and goes on to take the parent role of ‘deal with the scream rat in order to protect my large and easily frightened daughter’)

actually you’re completely right that the original lion is a juvenile, but it’s a male! his size and the fact that he still has some baby spots left also indicate that he’s a very YOUNG juvenile, equivalent to a human preteen!

It started with my intention to draw a small scene that they were both blushing when they know each other's feeling, and I didn't want to make this too long because I didn't have that much experience of drawing stories, then I had the storyboard done without any lines, which was another bad idea as when I started to filling them, I tried to let the story make sense, eventually caused this crowded result.

Listen I know nothing about the les miserables fandom and honestly i didn't even know there was a fandom but long story short I got my hands on an actual masters thesis based on the fandom writing around les mis and in particular about the ship between enjolras and grantaire (they actually used the term enjoltaire on a real university end of masters thesis) so congrats to the les mis fandom cause you have a strong soldier out there who wrote 30 pages analizing enjoltaire and their ao3 fics.
