HOME ☠ STORY ☠ INBOX ☠ NAV ☠ SKELETONS
CEDAR FALLS, PENNSYLVANIA on the surface seems like a quiet town - famous for their home grown businesses, gorgeous landscapes with blue lakes, and heavy grown forestry surrounding the edge of the town, and charming small town folk chatting up tourists at every hot spot. But underneath, the town harbours a tragedy from October 12th, 1987 - high school student Crawford Long snapped after years of abuse, torment, humiliation and ridicule and murdered nine of his fellow classmates before he ran into the woods of Cedar Falls disappearing for thirty years. Townsfolk swear he still lives to this day and seeks further vengeance, while others say that policemen gunned him down after his tyrant rampage. One thing is for sure, something ominous still hides in the shadows of CEDAR FALLS, PENNSYLVANIA.

Charlie: I mean, it's not a bad code word to be honest.
Charlie: but nah, the movie. It's been sooo long since I've watched it.

Charlie: Session 9 at my place in 20.
Charlie: Are you in or are you in?
The Hardly Boys>Charlie and Jesse
Jesse was happy to give up on the Parker conversation. “Newspaper, Charlie. I learn everything working on the paper.” He started putting up more books, grateful for the change of subject. The more they talked about the murders, the more he was guaranteed to be anxious all night. “Does it matter- it’s not like we hung out with him or anything back home? I barely recognized him the first day in class when we sat next to each other. And Casey-” Jesse heaved a sigh and shook his head.
“Casey is on the paper. He’s older and super hot and a swimmer with the biggest biceps and for some odd reason he’s super into me. He found me one night snooping around looking for some answers about Professor Parker on campus and I dunno. We had a moment. And honestly I thought that it would all be over when he was caught but he’s still texting me and trying to be all cute and stuff.” Jesse turned back to Charlie, happy to finally be talking about this stuff with him. It felt like the two of them never really got the chance nowadays. “And so it’s choice time. Do I tell Casey to back off or do I cool it with Adam? You know what I want to do more than anything- go back to Woodsboro where the only boy problems I had were how to hide my crush on Robbie.”
“Yeah, you and I never really hung out with him, but you know that he’s tight with Robbie right?” Charlie had always wondered how that friendship really came to be seeing as though Robbie and Adam always seemed like complete opposites. “I’m happy for you that you are into him, but I have to be honest here,” he said, his fingers brushing across the bookends as they walked down another aisle. “I’ve always picked up weird vibes from that kid. And I can never tell why that is, but he always seems on edge or high alert when we have any sort of interaction.” He shrugged it off, not looking to upset Jesse at all. “Eh, it’s probably nothing. He probably just doesn’t like the long-haired freak best-friend of his best-friend, because I’m so threatening you know,” he stated, his words heavy with sarcasm.
Charlie nodded as Jesse went on to explain this new Casey stranger. “A swimmer, eh? So a meathead. Just how you like them,” he joked, his eyebrows flicking upward. “Nah, but honestly. Trust your gut on that one. Is Adam reciprocating your interest in him? Cuz if not, then fuck that. This isn’t middle school anymore and he’s not some geeky, curly-headed fuck.” Somehow conversations with Jesse, his brother from another mother, almost always put Charlie in a good mood, and today was no different. It was exactly what he needed after the long, arduous week he had to get through. He turned to face Jesse and nudged his shoulder. “How was I surviving without my daily dose of the Jesse Grayson soap opera?”
text: Jill and Charlie
Jill: Hey you. How are you holding up?
Charlie: I'm doing alright actually now that everything is starting to settle down.
Charlie: How have you been? Haven't heard from you in a bit.
The Hardly Boys>Charlie and Jesse
“That he was a crazy perv who hooked up with multiple students.” Jesse said, jumping on the card and skidding slowly for a few feet. He didn’t want to mention that Jill was one of the unfortunate girls caught in his crossfire. Maybe that was why he went after Kirby- maybe she knew too. “And No. Real life isn’t a movie-” Jesse turned back to Charlie. “And I know coming from Woodsboro, that’s totally garbage to say, but I dunno- maybe he was just stupid and slipped up before he could finish the job?” He turned back to putting the books up, trying his best to play the denial game with Parker. If anything, it was enough to keep his head together.
“But I’m with you on the climax. Who knows- maybe you and Kirby are the climax. You swooped in and saved the girl before anything could happen.” Jesse started walking the cart further down the stacks, digging deeper into his own thoughts. “The thing that really gets me is you. I mean- don’t get me wrong, you’re my hero and all that, but …. Why did he call you? Sure he killed Isaac who was loosely related to the Nina story but…” Jesse shook his head and the threads started to unravel. “And for that fact- why Will? He seemed firmly planted on the bologna pony from what I can tell. Are we supposed to believe that Nina and Will were still having a thing?”
Jesse stopped the cart again. “Wait. No. My brain needs to stop and leave well enough alone. Kirby is safe and you’re safe and the only problem I need to worry about is the Casey vs Adam debate.” Off Charlie’s look, he broke into a heaved sigh. No matter how much he wanted to push the mystery of Professor Parker from his mind, he couldn’t.
“I didn’t swoop in and save anything. He wanted me right where I ended up. That’s why I don’t get any of this shit. All of a sudden, within hours, they found a bunch of evidence to corroborate him being the killer? It’s just so fucking sloppy… and not horror movie worthy in the slightest.” Charlie stopped rambling just before Jesse started rambling, and he listed intently all the while. The truth was, Charlie had no idea what Jesse was even talking about. He stopped in his tracks, then put his hands up to halt the conversation. “I don’t even know these people. None of them. Who are they and how do you know any of this extra information? Ugh I need to start hanging out with girls more.” He tossed the book back into the cart as his brain started to overflow with questions. “I have absolutely no clue how any of this is connected and why the fuck the mask was even a part of it. It’s tripping me out, and I haven’t even smoked in the last couple of days.” He let out a deep breath before continuing. “Let’s stop. This is hurting my brain too.”
“Okay, and why didn’t I know that the Adam you were talking about was Woodsboro Adam? And who is Casey? Jesse, help me out. I’m drowning in information overload here.” It was bumming Charlie out that he was so clueless about almost everything going on in his life. He wanted to just go back to his happy place, which was on the couch, smoking and vegging out to shitty Netflix movies.
The Hardly Boys>Charlie and Jesse
Jesse slid a large book into the bookshelf, squeezing it into a small gap between the rest of the True Crime novels. “It’s crazy, there’s been a huge uptake in true crime and serial killer books.” Jesse said, pushing the cart further down the aisle with Charlie. It was another late night at the library and Jesse had practically begged his friend to come keep him company until he was finished with his shift. “With Parker’s arrest it’s like people are trying to make sense of it. We’ve had seven letters to the editor who swear they’ve diagnosed him. How many psychology students do you think are going to do their Senior Thesis on him this year?”
Jesse looked over at Charlie with an inquisitive look. Sure, he was being a little callous about a man who would more than likely spend the rest of his life in prison- but one of his best friends nearly died at his hand. Jesse wasn’t exactly feeling charitable when it came to sympathy for the man. “I wonder if they’re going to make a movie about this. Call me jaded but I feel like it’s practically guaranteed when there’s dead teenagers and a masked killer. I mean, I’m assuming he was masked- judging from hometown history.”
“I mean, it’s not all that crazy. If Robbie could ever get past the first chapter of a book, I’m sure he’d be in the same boat,” he said, a smirk forming on his face. “But it’s been nothing but horror, horror, horror over at our place. I mean.. It’s usually mostly horror, but I’m talking ridiculous amounts of gore lately. I can’t get the kid to tone it down.” In spite of recent events, Charlie really wasn’t phased at all by it. Horror movies were a comfort to him if anything. He stuffed his hands in his pockets as he watched Jesse place book after book on the shelves. Hanging out with Jesse was also a comfort that Charlie had definitely been needing as of late. “I guess I understand the interest. If my girlfriend wouldn’t have been a factor, I probably would have been cracking open a book too. Normally all this massacre shit gets me goin’.”
Charlie had yet to wrap his brain around any of the new information that had been flooding the media lately. And as for Professor Parker, he was just some random guy without any ties to them, at least none that Charlie was currently aware of. “Yeah he had the mask and everything, man. He made sure I saw it when he Skyped me,” he said as he grabbed a worn Stephen King novel from Jesse’s cart and started mindlessly thumbing through the pages. “There really wasn’t any sort of climax though. Horror movies need a good build and then a breakdown, maybe a bait and switch, and this story is seriously missing any of that. It’s no Stab. Just try-hard copycat bullshit…” He trailed off before something clicked in his brain. “Bait and switch? You don’t think...” he said, shaking his head to his own question. “How much did you know about this guy?”
Flesh and Bone
Charlie was trying to piece together his own thoughts as Kirby continued to rant on and on about how the entire thing was her fault and no one else’s. He was completely thrown, stunned by the fact that Kirby would blame herself for something like that happening to her. He smoothed his hand against her arm before he made his argument. “No, Kirby. Stop. None of this is your fault,” he asserted, before letting out a deep breath. “I never told you about the call I got the night of Stab-A-Thon. It was 100% obvious what was happening now that I look back on it. If I wasn’t such a drunk, oblivious idiot that night, I could maybe have prevented any of this from happening. I don’t know how, but maybe I could have...” He shook his head as he trailed off, still trying to fathom the current situation they had both found themselves in. “I think we can just agree to disagree on this one.”
He was able to relax after a short time, finally allowing his rigid limbs to melt around Kirby and his brain to be consumed with only thoughts of her. He had been so distracted by his own shock and fear that he hardly had any time to appreciate the fact that this little blonde fireball was now his. He nuzzled his cheek against her hair, a sly smile forming on his face as she spoke. “You’re going to get us both in trouble if you keep talking like that, Kirby Reed.”
Flesh and Bone
“God, I thought I was all out of these.” She remarked sarcastically as she used her free hand to rub her eyes, too embarrassed to look back at Charlie and see how heartbroken he looked, how much he had to suffer too to get them both here, how she felt like she was at fault, how she wanted to move past this burden and be happy together, because they were supposed to finally be happy together and she knew they were on a rotten way to start. She looked down at her lap, and scanned her bandaged arm, the one where her attempted killer carved a number onto her, and her brows knotted together while she triggered her memory, “You really came to rescue me? You could have ended up like me, you know, that was a really dumb and brave stunt for you to pull.” Her lips started trembling when he confessed to how scared he was and she felt far worse, for how much worry and stress they both had to go through.
She looked back over and took a breath, “I was scared too. He carved a four onto my arm, and when I saw that I knew he meant I was supposed to be the fourth one to bite the dust. End scene for me, I was really scared.” She looked around the empty room, apart from the two of them, “I know that they called my parents, but does everybody back at school know what happened, or where I am? How long have you been here? You look pretty rough, not bad rough, sexy rough, but you do still look pretty rough shape,” She made a face, her lame attempt to be cute and funny all the while she knew how fake that all was. “Here, come lay next to me.”
The longer Charlie looked at Kirby, the harder it was to keep his cool. Charlie had dealt with anxiety his whole life, but hadn’t been this close to the edge in a long time. The elephant that was sitting on his chest just seemed to grow even bigger in size when Kirby started to tear up. He let out the breath he had been holding the entire time she was speaking, then closed his eyes and shook his head. “You’re not dumb, Kirby,” he said, his tone light. He opened his eyes, fixing his gaze to hers. “I’m the dumb one, definitely. I was so sure I was walking right into some sort of trap. But I physically couldn’t leave you out there, didn’t even hesitate.” His shoulders rose then dropped before his eyes spotted the bandage that currently covered the number carved into her arm, and the elephant grew in size once more.
He was so conscious of his own ragged breathing that Kirby’s words started to blur together. “Oh uh. Um,” he stuttered, shaking his head once more in an attempt to gain a little composure and recall the words she was uttering. “Uh yeah, you know Robbie. He’s like a 7th grade girl when it comes to this kind of shit,” he finally replied, his mouth cracking into a half smile as he thought of his best friend and his big mouth. Charlie nodded as he stood up, more than happy to oblige to Kirby’s request, then carefully made his way over and sunk down into the tiny hospital bed. He was very cautious of hurting her as he tucked his arm under her head, allowing her to rest on his chest. A few moments of silence passed before he spoke up. “So.. sexy huh?” he said in an effort to lighten the mood.

Robbie: Fuck man, well they messed with the wrong girl then, I mean she had to fight you off for four years.
Robbie: I know, I keep getting clips and photos and stuff sent to my twitter.
Robbie: My fans even want me to do a live stream with her about her attack.
Charlie: Where the hell are people getting clips?
Charlie: I'll talk to you later alright? I'm all fucked up right now and I'm trying to keep my cool.
text; charlie and robbie
Robbie: Just trying to ease the pain the way I know how.
Robbie: So do you know when she gets to come back to us?
Charlie: I know, man.
Charlie: Not really sure yet. She got her head bashed pretty hard, so they're watching that pretty closely.
Charlie: He was wearing the fucking mask, Robbie.
text; charlie and robbie
Robbie: Hey man.. she awake yet? Send my love, hugs, sloppy kiss on the cheek, honk her boob? Whatever you have to do so long as shes okay now.
Charlie: Thanks for the much needed laugh, but fuck off.
Charlie: She's good, she just woke up.
Flesh and Bone
Charlie took her to see a doctor after she finally felt like she was safe enough to pass out and not wake up dead. When she woke up, her eyes automatically shut as the harsh florescent lights shone overhead above her, and her hand worked as a shield until her eyes adjusted. There was a nurse next to her, who talked her down, let her know that her parents were called and they were on a flight to come over to see her, the police wanted her report on what happened but so far her alleged attacker was found and arrested, she should let herself rest for now, and get lots of sleep and to call whenever she needed her. Her nurse then nodded off, “And he refused to leave until you woke up,” her nurse smiled and turned to leave the room. Kirby looked over, and there was a stool pulled all the way over to her bed and Charlie was the one sitting there, his arms crossed and strewn over her lap while he was sound asleep. “Oh, Charlie,” She murmured, her heart both broken and put back together.
Were they on day two or three now, that was hard to keep track while she was abducted and had no way to tell time, but she guessed there was no way possible she was out for more than two days. She felt better now that she was here, and she had no more faucets to cry anymore, or any more lungs left to scream. She was here, and all that mattered. She pushed his hair back to get a better look at his face, and his brows were knitted together while he was asleep, a bad dream or a bad sleep. She combed his hair back some more until he came back too, “Charlie, hey, Charlie.”
Flashback images from the night whirled around Charlie’s brain as he slept - the all-too-familiar mask, the dark forest, Kirby bloodied and strapped to the tree. When he woke, he wasn’t sure if the entire night was all just a lousy nightmare. Soon after opening his eyes, he realized it was all very real as a battered and bruised Kirby looked down at him. He gave her a small, sad smile as his sleepy eyes battled with the harsh light. “You’re awake,” he managed to croak out, sitting up slowly and scooting closer to her. He winced as he sat up, his head pounding from a combination of the light overhead and the stress from the night. As he looked down at her, hurt filled his heart all over again. He knew that if he was in rough shape right now, she was 100 times worse.
He grabbed the hand that was just combing through his hair with both hands, and rubbed the top of it with his thumb. “They tried to kick me out, because I’m not family,” he said, forcing a smirk to form on his lips, but let it drop soon after. “How are you feeling?” He bit the inside of his bottom lip to stop it from quivering. “I was so fucking scared, Kirby.”
Flesh and Bone
After the video chat went black, Charlie clicked his phone off and grabbed his keys as he raced out to his car. His heart was trying to pound its way out of his chest, all the hairs on his body felt as if they were standing on end, and he was running off of pure adrenaline at this point. The entire trip down the dark, lonely highway was all a blur, with nothing going on in Charlie’s brain except absolute fear, dread, and overwhelming anxiety. He gripped the steering wheel as if he was trying to break it, then slammed his left fist against it to release some of the emotion welling up inside him. This wasn’t how things were supposed to play out. They were together now, things were supposed to be warm and fuzzy now. But in the blink of an eye, he was hauling ass to an abandoned casino in order to find out whether his girlfriend of one whole day, his dream girl of four years, was dead or alive.
He couldn’t get out of the car fast enough after slamming it into park. He ran around to the back of the building where the treeline was, but all he could see was pure darkness. He pulled his phone light out, then started into the trees, trying to keep a keen eye out for any movement. “Kirby?!” he yelled, hoping to hear a response, but he didn’t. The only sounds he could make out were the wind rushing through the tree branches and the crunches and snaps his footsteps made as he trudged through the thick forest. He flashed his light to the left, letting his eyes adjust on the ropes tied around a large trunk and lock of blonde hair that was being blown by the wind. His eyes widened as he circled around to the other side of the tree.
“Fuck,” he said, his eyes pricking with tears. She was in terrible shape, but the rise of her chest signaled that she was still breathing. He let out a choked up breath, relieved. He placed a hand on Kirby’s cheek in an attempt to rouse her a little more. His voice was as sweet and calming as he could muster. “Kirby, it’s me, it’s Charlie.” His eyes darted to the ropes that were binding her to the tree. “I’m gonna get you out of here, okay?” He started loosening the ropes, putting his arm out to wrap around her torso as she dropped down to the ground. “I got you, I got you,” he cooed, his lips trembling, before scooping her limp body up into his arms and starting toward the car.
Phone call from Unknown || Charlie
Charlie: -accepts video chat request-
Unknown: -the picture is black, muffling heard and then moans and small cries. a flashlight beams onto the white mask with black eyes before the camera turns around directing into Kirby's battered bloody face. a step away to see her strapped to a tree, a knife comes into the picture and slides playfully against the side of her cheek. as Kirby groans against the dull of the blade, the camera moves far away to show Kirby tightly in place. the camera and flashlight are set down and the dark cloaked figure is seen moving back towards Kirby wielding the bowie knife. she is heard pleading and struggling as the masked figure comes closer, a hand reaching for her one arm that is completely bare of rope. turning to make sure the camera got a good view, the masked one pressed the blade down into Kirby's forearm. as blood pours from Kirby's arm, she howls a blood curdling cry into the night. carving down and horizontally, Kirby screams and kicks the best she can against the pain. finally drawing the final line down, whatever being carved completely is concealed by dark blood.-
Charlie: Nononono. Please stop, PLEASE fucking stop. I'll do whatever you want me to do. Just don't hurt her anymore.
