Mlp Redesigns: Rarity

Miss Rarity… she looks so super tiny in this big old canvas LOL! Normally I would put her somewhere more suited to her stature, but I wanted her to match the others- you can see them Here! All in all I changed her the least.

Design notes and comparisons under cut:

-Added AU/headcannon unicorn features- she’s a better example than Twi because of twilight’s alicorn status! Especially the nose.

-her tail curves up and over her back like the tail of a pug or a spitz-type dog.

-I think she’s really pale, enough that her skin shows through underneath as pink :3 not a true albino because if I remember right, true albino horses have a lot of health complications? I’m not sure. But an all-pale my little pony would certainly be a ‘rarity’! I imagine she dyes her mane and tail from white to purple as a form of self expression.

-To suit the ‘small, fancy dog’ image I was going for, I gave her a sweater. If I project a little maybe she’s always shivering without it. And, bonus, it protects her from sunburn! It would be strange if the fashion designer horse didn’t wear any clothes lol

-The sewing needle was added to her cutie mark mostly for my own fun. I know her cutie mark doesn’t really have anything to do with her job (ie, her gem locating talent vs her fashion design) and I do like that! But it felt so weird just leaving her with the three diamonds.

-her build is small, round, soft, and stout. Both for visual variety and because I find it very cute on her!

Rarity is super small. The smallest of everypony! I don’t think it would bother her; she has enough confidence for self love no matter what she looks like.

I want to have held you in my arms when all those sad memories you describe to me were still fresh wounds. I want my past to have been full of you, and full of meaningful memories with you. I want my past lives to have been spent with you, whether as two lovers, or two housecats cuddling by the fireplace on a snowy day, or two flowers that just happened to bloom on the same day, next to each other. I want to have consumed your existence and intertwined it with my own since my birth, never to be separated from you for a moment. I want to have loved you throughout it all, for all time.

Mlp Redesigns: Fluttershy

I drew Fluttershy last of all of all but I really really like her. The whole process just reminded me of how much I love all of the mane 6- g4 brought me a lot of joy throughout my life and I truly don’t have a least favorite. You can see the whole set of em Here!

Design notes and comparisons under cut:

-I added my AU/headcannon pegasus traits to her! Feathers, spurs/claws, etc

-her hoof feathering is very long and soft, so much so that it completely covers her hooves and gives her the appearance of having paws!

-She has long, silky tail feathers like a bird of paradise or something. They would probably be mildly moveable, used for emoting or body language.

-It doesn’t apply in her design very much, but my Fluttershy is a trans girl. I feel like I constantly see so much trans flutters art that I kinda forgot she’s not canonically trans-

-The dark pink streaks in her hair were originally meant to mimic antennae (for the breezies) but they looked a little too gravity-defying if they stood up like that so I left them as little raccoon-tails! Another nod to her critters, as well as a hint at some little internal life that wants to express herself in a bolder way.

-Her colors were left almost entirely alone, but I did bring the teal from her eyes down into the rest of her body for a little contrast

-cutie mark has paws on it now, cause I was never really sure what the butterflies were meant to represent? Except for the gentle vibe and the fact that butterflies are creatures haha. Also added some more pinks for variety

-She has a tiny peek of fang…. Cause she’s part vampire… just the tiniest leftover bit

Fluttershy is the tallest! Because the concept of ‘really tall character who constantly ducks their head to appear small and nonthreatening’ is one of my FAVORITES EVER! She’s the only one who really fits the bill for being shy enough to do that. Maybe Twilight would? But to be honest, Twi has some pretty decent self confidence given to her by her book knowledge.

Also, please do not listen to how people talk about cover letters on this site. Cover letters are important, and in many industries you can be damn sure they'll be read. And no, they're not 'fanfic about working in your office', or just re-stating the resume contents in a fancier guise. If you treat them like that, then of course they're not doing much for you. That makes you sound like a syncophantic windbag, and it's not doing anything else to help.

I was trained in the dark arts of the cover letter by my mother, who is a hiring manager. And her training has paid off: I've been consistently told my cover letters are excellent. Let me pass on the wisdom.

The job of a cover letter is to give a prospective employer strictly more information than is on the resume. This is where you take the resume contents and put them into context. You look at the job requirements (you are looking at the job requirements before applying, right?) and look at your resume and ask the question (in your head) "why would a person think this candidate would be good for this job?" and your cover letter is the answer to that question. If you don't answer that question, the hiring manager is going to have to do it themselves, and you have way more information to work with than they do.

This is especially important if you're moving from one industry to another, because then the relevant connections aren't obvious. It's also very important if you're overqualified, because then you can use the letter to say "I know it looks like this job would be too entry-level for me, but I'm interested to pursue it for reasons x, y, and z". You can also use this space to explain away something that might otherwise be disqualifying, like job-hopping or a long break in employment. The tone to strike here is always matter-of-fact and constrained to topic - don't go into detail about health stuff or personal tragedy, just tell them what they need to hear: that this period of your resume was affected by [bad thing] but that it's now in the past and you're looking forward to the next chapter. Remember, one of the things they're trying to learn is whether you'd be content in this role, or whether you'd be miserable and leave after 2 months, which would force them to do all the work of hiring again. You're trying to establish that you will fit right in and not cause problems. Knowing what drew you to this job in particular (and don't just say 'money', that's true for everyone) helps with that.

And the other mistake? Everyone writes cover letters that are too long. One page is fine. Two is the absolute maximum, and that's if you have a lot of specific things to say. It's a waste of your time and theirs to pad it out with fluff. Of my two most recent successful cover letters (i.e. jobs for which I was interviewed) one was 390 words and the other was 550. That's the length of this post. How long did it take me to write this post? About 15 minutes to write, 5 to proof and edit. That's how long you should be spending on a cover letter, maximum.

My interpretation of Fluttershy!

A child of a dragon and a Pegasus, Fluttershy has always stuck out in Cloudsdale like a sore thumb. Her peers bullied her relentlessly for her inability to do more than glide, and her appearance certainly didn’t help.

One day after a particularly bad run-in with her bullies, Fluttershy fled the skies for the world below, but crash-landed in the Everfree Forest. She was nursed back to health by the animals there, and leaned all sorts of healing techniques. She was able to hone them to an uncanny degree, and when Applejack ran into her escaping from some Timberwolves, she was able to not only scare off the wolves, but heal Applejack’s wounds.

The two became fast friends, and Applejack helped Fluttershy establish a small clinic on the edge of Ponyville. The townsfolk were initially just as wary of her as she was of them, but they realized quickly that the gentle giant was the finest healer around.

My interpretation of Celestia!

Now Queen Celestia (why only Princess 🤨?), she has ruled over Equestria for centuries. Her powers are beyond mortal comprehension, leading some to say that she is the sun itself made incarnate; her subjects both adore and fear her.

Long ago, she fought with her sister and scattered her remains in the sky to become stars. No one knows what caused this mortal battle, but 10 years ago, she bestowed her sister’s power upon her trusted protégée Twilight Sparkle—only to be betrayed when Twilight Sparkle began using these powers for selfish and cruel means.

This betrayal has changed the Queen, but only to the trained eye. She is serene and just in a way that makes one wonder if a burning fury lies just beneath the surface—only growing hotter the more it is denied.

Yes, the Alicorns are now gods! Because I love a pantheon narrative always✨

Reimagined Princess Cadence!! Her design is one of my absolute favourites so I didn’t change too much, just added a ‘true’ form to match her status as the ruler of the Crystal Empire.

I’m making a major change to her lore…she is now Twilight Sparkle’s older sister! I thought that would be far more interesting in the context of my reimagined MLP, explaining Twilight’s personality and goals… (Shining Armor lore to come, but he’s no longer related to Twilight, obviously…)

From the moment of her birth in the Crystal Empire, Cadence embodied love and light. She was pure of heart and a stubborn pacifist, working day and night to improve the lives of those around her. She was said to be touched by the light of the Crystal Heart itself, and destined for greatness, and her parents began to push her relentlessly toward her destiny.

Her parents trained her vigorously in politics, medicine, music, art—and eventually she became the first democratically elected leader of the Crystal Empire, just as they’d wanted. But all Cadence had wanted was to get to know her little sister, 15 years her junior. She was saddened to see Twilight pushed even harder than she was, and more so to see her grow resentful.

Queen Celestia recently granted her Alicorndom, but she struggles being the Deity of Love—quite literally cracking under the pressure.

My interpretation of the Cutie Mark Crusaders! They’re all sort of social outcasts in their own way…

Sweetie Belle, Rarity’s daughter, is a filly who shares her mother’s passion for fashion. She is very proud of her beautiful singing voice. Rarity is a bit overprotective of her and spoils her, making Sweetie Belle quite bossy. Because she’s one of the only unicorns in Ponyville, she is shunned by her peers.

Apple Bloom is Applejack’s younger sister who longs for adventure. She’s very rowdy, talkative, and curious, which often comes off as ‘too much’. She is interested in magic, monsters, and the unknown, usually getting her into trouble. Being bigger and rowdier than her schoolmates made her a social pariah.

Scootaloo, Rainbow Dash’s niece, is fostered by her aunt due to an unsafe home environment with her parents. Her rough upbringing has made her act quite naughty, even mean-spirited, but she has a tender heart under her tough exterior. She was often bullied for her “lack” of parents and her scars, making her act out.

However, these three fillies find friendship in one another and become much better for it—even if they always manage to get in trouble.

There’s the CMC! I always thought their episodes were so cute. “Bad Seed” gets stuck in my head so easily…

My interpretation of Queen Chrysalis! Less horse, more terrifying bug monster👍🏻

I don’t think I’d change much from canon for her and the Changelings, with the small exception that she was impersonate Shining Armor instead of Cadance. The kingdom already doesn’t trust him for being an Umbrum: what better way to prey on their distrust than to play into their fears?

“This Day” could sound really good in Josh Groban’s range… just saying 🤭

I think she’d be wholly focused on feeding her hive, thinking of ponies as a favourite snack rather than a threat. She sees herself and her Changelings far above them.

Conceptional gen 6 of My Little Pony that I’ve been thinking about since G5 ended.

I wanted to give my own take of a potential new generation f MLP that gives homage to the previous generation and I think G2 have so much potential to develop into a show. Generation 2 never got its own animated series despite having some very fun characters.

So what have I done and how does it differ from the original generation?

Well, in terms of lore I haven’t changed much since there isn’t a lot to find in the first place. The land is still called Ponyland and their village is called Friendship Gardens like in the original comics. The lack of details gives us the opportunity to develop it a lot ourselves.

What I have updated/changed is the ponies themselves. Pegasi have been added and unicorns are now more common than before. Cutie marks are more colorful to look less like stamps.

In the beginning I wanted to make the main characters a group of six. The plan was for Sky Skimmer and Morning Glory to join the main cast but i decided to only use the 'core four' in the end. Sundance acting like our protagonist with her curious personality.

Random ideas I’ve had so far:

- Dainty Dove and Proudfoot is Light Heart's parents

- Silver Swirl is the ruling queen of Ponyland, her daughter Diamond Glow 'Swirly' is next in line.

- Lady Moon Shadow is a powerful mage in the royal court

Morning Glory and Clever Clover have a son named Fleur

This took me so so long lol, please enjoy. Pony types details under the cut! I’ll post each design individually with my detailed thoughts tomorrow after I get some sleep.

Mainly I want to focus on the three pony types for now- pegasi, earth ponies, and unicorns. Alicorns will be a separate post !!!! Because I have a whole separate AU lore brewing for them

Pegasi (Rainbow Dash, Fluttershy):

-they have wings, duh, but also their hoof feathering is made of actual feathers!

-feathers also appear on the flanks and ears, sometimes including decorative long display feathers

-claws or spurs appear on wings and hind-legs, for hooking onto surfaces and grabbing when landing.

-generally they have thin, spindly builds with light bones for agility, but that’s not a law.

Earth ponies: (Pinkie Pie, Applejack):

-I gave them whiskers because I think that’s the cutest thing ever.

-Also short, perky bobtails- the hair can grow longer, but it gets in the way if you can’t fly or hold it up somehow! So most earth ponies wear it short.

-Maybe thick builds? I know most people make earth ponies strong but tbh I just wanted specifically Pinkie and Applejack to be pretty sturdy looking

Unicorns (Rarity, formerly Twilight Sparkle):

-‘classical’ unicorn tails with tufts at the end, they’re fun to draw :3

-I decided to give them distinctive goat-like noses and (kind of?) round g4 style faces. It gets lost in my art style though.

-hopefully the cloven hooves really help give them that classic vibe

Mlp Redesigns: Princess Mi Amore Cadenza

Gosh she took forever! This design will definitely need scaling down for bigger projects like comics, I definitely made her more complicated than strictly necessary. That’s kinda the point of my alicorn designs though- they’re larger than life, extra shiny, and more properly horse-shaped than the rest of my little(r) ponies.

Design notes and AU stuff under the cut:

-first off for her story- from what little scraps I’ve seen, the story for The Rise of Cadence comic fits well for what I had in mind! That said, I don’t know if I’m keeping the whole ‘she’s a descendant of a super extra special horse who lived a long time ago’ thing. BUT she was the first (and most successful) student of Celestia :]

-Her colors are based off of a blue peach-faced lovebird- because lovebirds- and also a littttle bit from an unused concept where she’s blue (thank you @ziguanaba for finding the image for me! I had no idea it existed previously and it was a fun inspiration :3)

-The crystal heart cutiemark is now a lock-and-key, with the key similarly being a stand-in for an arrow. I was trying to mash both the ‘heart pierced by Cupid’s arrow’ thing and those heart shaped locks with skeleton keys together

-her horn is also shaped like a key

-Crystal empire influence has spread to her mane and tail, making them all sparkly and pretty! Her original mane and tail had/has a sort of filigree design to it

I think she’s really cute btw…. Also I’m calling her CadEnce and not CadAnce because 1.Cadence makes me think of a heartbeat and like. Hearts. Heartbeat. Cute Valentine’s Day hearts AND 2.Cadance always reads to my brain as “Candace” like from Phineas and Ferb AND 3.if her full name uses “Cadenza” shouldn’t it have been “Cadence” anyway???

in this au, they all met due to working within the castle grounds.

in this au, celestia is queen, luna is still banished, and twilight is discouraged from making friends as it distracts her from her studies. she is celestia's heir and grew up in the castle.

Cowrie "Riri" Cuttlefish (she/him) [Captain 3] {22}

Genderfluid/bigender and "gay"

Slightly taller than the average inkling

Ran away from home after turning 14 to be a professional inksports player. Was really good at it, but her career got cut short after she took an arrow to the knee the Deepsea Metro incident. She's now a full-time DJ

Appears tough but is just a silly billy with resting bitch face, except she does take her job as Captain really seriously

Has a weird infatuation with Eight but refuses to acknowledge it because he feels that there's bad blood between them. He constantly evades the topic and avoids Eight where possible, which gives the entire rest of the NSS a headache and a half

Marie gave him the nickname "Riri" in a fit of frustration after getting him confused with Callie one too many times, unintentionally cracking his metaphorical egg in the process

His damaged eye is mostly blind and very sentistive to light, not to mention a little unsightly, so he keeps it covered by an eyepatch most of the time. A little insecure about it, but tries not to let it affect him too much

She was cerimoniously adopted by the Cuttlefish family, and she changed her name to theirs as soon as she was able to. Callie and Marie treat her like the "secret third Squid Sister" and were really involved in Riri's gender exploration

Weapon of Choice: Hero Shot, Custom Blaster

Venus "Ven" Takowasa (they/them) [New Agent 3] {16}

Agender, largely presents fem

Questioning (pretty sure they're ace) (they're also sapphic but they don't know that lol)

Short for an octoling, making them slightly smaller than Riri, but still growing (they'll grow far past Eight)

Salvages, fixes, and sells Octarian scrap they find around salmonid territory on the Splatlandian side of the cape (technically contraband)

Octavio's grandnephew who ran away to the Splatlands after hearing the Calamari Inkantation when they were 8. He doesn't recognize them after years of separation and Ven's transition, and Ven is too awkward/scared to say anything

Birthname is Tenor, they left it behind when they left the underground

Callie calls them "Ven-ven" and they pretend they hate it but everybody around them can tell they really like it

After Boomer was left behind by his school for being a runt, Ven found him alone and fed him. Boomer considers this a life debt and they see each other as family, though Boomer thinks he's secretly the one in charge (he's right)

Kind of (extremely) emotionally dependent on Boomer. Total show off with him but borderline inconsolable without

Would be a stretch to say that they look up to Riri, but they do kind of admire him from a distance. Secretly thinks they're better than her though

Abby Yarika (she/her) [Agent 4] {19}

Cisgender, but likes dressing a lil masc sometimes

Much shorter than the average inkling due to having an egg twin (still taller than Pearl, but not by much)

Grew up the oldest of 5 siblings. Kinda slipped through the cracks and has a lackluster relationship with her parents because of this. She looks to Callie and Marie for advice on basically everything

Is also Marie and Callie's (unapologetically) favorite agent, a title she wears with pride

Moved to Inkopolis for school. She's a biology major studying to become a biochemist, but she does a little ranked on the side to support her studies

Huge OTH fan, Pearl is her favorite (she and Eight have intense fangirl/fanboying sessions about which member is cooler)

Her "freckles" are a result of a mutation that causes her eyemask to "leak out" of where the coloration is supposed to be. Her twin sister doesn't have this mutation, and it's basically the only way to tell them apart

Likes to flaunt how good she is with every weapon class to Riri, calling him a one trick pony (he is in fact the "master of one" to Abby's "jack of all trades" and solos her in 1v1s everytime)

Used to have a small hero-worship crush on Marie when she was a kid but got over it. Under the false assumption that Marie doesn't know about this

Used to be a little stinker who played hooky all the time but Marie's casual snark and sense of responsibility is rubbing off on her

Weapon of Choice: Hero Dualies, Slosher

Eight Hozukida (he/him) [Agent 8] {20}

Transmasculine, transed his gender after escaping the Deepsea Metro (All octoling soldiers are girls? Nah)

Average octoling height which makes him taller than Riri

Aware of Riri's crush on him but is scared to do anything about it (the aformentioned questioning of sexuality and general lack of experience with romance, he doesn't know how to feel about her) He also tends to avoid Riri because of this, though not as intentionally, which drives the rest of the NSS up the wall

"Real" name is Peri, which he remembers post-SO, but he likes Eight better and goes by that instead. Also adopted a portmanteau of Pearl and Marina's last names

OTH's self-proclaimed biggest fan, his favorite is Marina but he would rather die than tell her to her face

Lived with Marina when she and Pearl lived seperately, briefly lived with Pearl after she and Marina moved in together, and now shares an apartment with Abby because he wants to be somewhat independent (and also get away from pearlina PDA)

Likes to help Abby with her labs as it gives him a much more positive association to the idea of "testing"

Not as involved with the "secret agent" side of the Splatoon as the others and is more of an honorary member, but will assist when needed.

What if supernatural creatures don’t exist anymore? What if they did once, but through the years, they slowly mixed in with humans?

You can see the blood of fairies in the way a ballet dancer hovers in mid air before he or she hits the ground. You can see it in the way that middle school girl never forgets when someone makes her a promise. You can see it in how that one little boy in the kindergarten class seems more comfortable in the forest on that field trip than the others.

You can see the blood of dryads in hikers who never trip over roots. You can see it in that suburban grandmother never lets any of her garden die. You can see it in that one kid who climbs a tree faster than his friends, barely looking at the branches as he goes.

You can see the blood of naiads in the way a professional swimmer seems to command the water to help them. You can see it in how a cross country runner needs a water break more often than his teammates. You can see it in the way that one girl in your class always has a water bottle on her desk.

You can see the blood of mermaids in a surfer who can be tossed around underwater for a long time without drowning. You can see it in a teenage boy who doesn’t have to pretend to be unbothered by the pressure when he races his friends to the bottom of a swimming pool. You can see it in the little girl who wades into every stream she sees on a hike without quite knowing why.

You can see the blood of sirens in people who never have a problem with getting people to date them. You can see it in that soprano who can hit notes most of her fellows can only dream of. You can see it in the camp counselor who all the straight girls have a crush on, who can play guitar and sing better than any of the others.

You can see the blood of shapeshifters in the way an actor adjusts their personality to become their character with scary accuracy. You can see it in the subconscious, barely noticeable changes a tween girl’s eyes make to match her outfit better. You can see it in the way you always lose that one friend in a crowd if you’re not careful, because he’s just too good at blending in.

People who carry the blood of werewolves don’t change with the full moon anymore, but you can still see it in the way your best friend always knows something is wrong, though even they don’t know they’re smelling the changes in your body chemistry. You can see it in the way that one guy always seems to eat more than the reasonable amount of red meat at an all-you-can-eat buffet. You can see it in the way that one werido never has a problem when the teacher turns off the lights before a PowerPoint presentation because her eyes adjust quicker and better than yours.

The blood of supernatural creatures may have mostly faded away. But if you look closely, you can still see it.

This is probably going to be an unpopular opinion, but here it goes anyways. A lot of you are making up people to be mad at.

Let's take sinners for example. There is a white guy with like 2 lines exclusively about hating minorities in this movie. His name is not Ray, it's Bert (I had to look that up on imdb), he is the kkk-vampire and not a single person on earth is writing self-insert fic about this guy. They are writing self-insert fic about the central antagonist, who is also a vampire. Girls like villains, what else is new.

And sure, maybe I am being to literal here, but yelling at people that they are liking a thing in the wrong way is just the fastest way to kill a fandom. The underlying things this post is pointing at are real and they do exist. Societal beauty standards center white people, a lot of (white) people have are harder time sympathising with people of color. But those things are not fandom problems. They are just general problems of living in white supremacist society and they show up in all facets of or society including fandom. But you are not gonna fix them by telling people they are somehow bad for liking the sexy vampire.

I really liked Sinners. But if I look at the top text posts for example 4 out of 10 are wank about how people are problematic or racist for the way they like the movie. And to be completely honest, I think that this atmosphere is also a huge factor in why Sinners fandom is not a big as it could be. Which is really fucking sad.

Where am I yelling about “ppl liking things the wrong way”?

Am I “making up a guy to be mad at” if by your own admission you are a fan of a character that fits the hypothetical scenario that I described in the original post? That you brought up, because I didn’t bring up Sinners (2025).

You admit that societal beauty standards favor white people (an odd thing to bring up), and in turn white people have a harder time sympathizing with people of color (a poor excuse for racism), and yet you think this doesn’t factor into fandom? You think white ppl, from the society that you acknowledge has racist biases, will somehow leave those same prejudices when engaging in fandom? You think that the “real world” is a completely separate vacuum from the art that leads to fandom?

“Girls like villains” a very strange, pointedly projective, and dismissive of the main point of the post: racism. You think women of color like racist villains? Or is it just white women? Because that’s what we’re talking about here: racist characters, specifically. With this line of thinking, you put forth that either the women in a fandom, Sinners (2025) by your example, a predominantly Black led piece of media which centers Black women as they’re integral to the story, should categorically like the “sexy vampire” despite the fact that he’s terrorizing Black people throughout the movie just because he’s the villain. Or you put forth that there are no women of color in the Sinners fandom, which would be an odd thing to think given the previous points.

You think that pointing out racism is “killing a fandom” as it brings up things you don’t want to think about, as is described by the original post, that hyperfixating on a racist white character in a piece of media is a reoccurring thing, and that when a Black person (me) or any other person of color points that out; you feel attacked which is clear from your long block of text you’ve added. You need to think about why you feel the need to go on the defensive for a fictional character that represents assimilation and entitlement to Black bodies (a fairly obvious reading of Remmick) and why it’s okay to like him above the rest of the Black cast.
