The thing that surprised me the most when I first started receiving hate comments on this blog (and outside the blog as well), was how quick people assumed I was pretending to be a trans woman, despite the fact I never even claimed that outside of my name including the word "girl".

Anyways as much as I'd like to keep the haters guessing, I am a trans girl, and it's been a weird experience to have multiple people assume that because I don't agree with all their beliefs, that I must be some kind of agent of the transmascs hiding as a normal tumblr transfem, or that I'm a cis woman with no right to engage in this conversation. (which I also don't believe to be fair)
My gender has been both assumed and then placed into question just because of my opinions, by fellow trans people.
It's frankly really sad to see people so far up their own ass they actually pull this shit on their own community.
I think there's also a lot to be said about how many trans people of different kinds have beef with eachother?? Like we should be loving eachother and sharing spaces. There's so many great people you're missing out on just because you don't think you'll understand each other, but I think that we all have a lot we could learn if we just talked and loved each other more.

I had some very interesting insight from asks and comments that I want to share, because I couldn't possibly phrase it better than they already did:
Beyond giving my thanks to these two very tired people and their input, I wanna summarize my thoughts and rephrase some of what I said in my original post to highlight what I think is more important to understand:
While my post made the effort to explain how the terms explained aren't wrong and qualify as applying to transmasculine and non-binary people, what I most wanted people to take away from it was the fact that trying to use language to justify taking away words from a minority group is incredibly unkind and idiotic.
As anon argued, scrutinizing the roots of words is useless and obtuse. It can lead to a multitude of interpretations that, ultimately, don't really reflect what the word is being used for in actual conversation.
Using words to determine who is good and who is bad, without any kind of good faith, assumes language isn't flexible and eliminates nuance in discussion. The constant policing of language inside minority spaces takes away from productive conversations and funnels everyone's energy into a spiral of hatred and misunderstanding.
As (if I interpreted it correctly) llula pointed out, the term transmisogyny is also used by people to refer to the hatred of transfeminine people specifically. Yes, it's very ironic for people who deny transmisandry to then come around and accept that definition of transmisogyny. But more importantly:
THEY ARE NOT THE ONLY ONES TO USE THAT DEFINITION OF THE TERM.
As much as I think we occasionally have the duty to point out to people that their language includes words that are commonly used as genuine (EMPHASIS ON GENUINE) dog-whistles, and help them find alternatives, I think it's also our duty to understand that as long as the person is acting in good faith and we understand what they said, maybe that use of the word is completely okay!!
