Y’all, when I tell you this piece of art is one of the best gifts I’ve ever received, I’m not joking or exaggerating. It tops the highly coveted and dearly loved pair of roller skates I got when I was about 9yrs old (they gave me a sense of freedom I didn’t really have and an escape from loneliness). They have held the premiere spot for decades. There are so many reasons this is my new favorite—besides the fact that it’s feline…a big cat…a beautiful bobcat (duh of course I love that 😻). Some of it I struggle to articulate because it’s deep emotions wrapped in experiences in my journey over the last year and the connection with the person who gave it to me. It’s a gift of being seen and loved. It means so much to me. Y’all, honestly, I’ve been sad, depressed and felt alone for so long that it’s actually shocking to me that my life can be any other way. But I’m realizing it is, and I’m starting to give a little bit of a shit about myself occasionally. So much has happened in the past month and not just the hair. (Camo inspired to purple, love it all) I have a new home, a new life. I cannot thank my absolute lifesaver of a best friend enough. Dude, I know you’ll see this and I want you to know how grateful I am. I could not have made all the changes for the better without the fuckton of support you’ve given me, including a place to live and flourish again. I think I’ve laughed and smiled more in the past month than possibly the entire year. I still have my demons and I indulge in some of my usual bullshit, and there’s some different shit to deal with on the daily (dude, you KNOW what I’m talking about), but I’ve made a major leap that I desperately needed to take. This is my new custom fit mouthguard for kickboxing. I designed it myself and love its unabashed ridiculousness. (Not to mention it is crazy comfortable and locks in place perfectly, thank you @mouthpieceguy ) But there’s also a backstory.... The cat, as some of you know, is Maxx. A cat I had several years ago that saved me from the very brink of ultimate self-destruction. As feisty as he was it’s only fitting that he be my kickboxing spirit animal.
