When jokes go too far

"Rape jokes aren't funny" "Aww come on don't be "that" girl, it's just a joke" "No I am going to be that girl. Because maybe if it wasn't for those jokes I wouldn't of been raped at 13. Maybe if it wasn't for those jokes I wouldn't of starved myself at 14. Maybe if it wasn't for those jokes I wouldn't of tried to commit suicide at 15. Maybe if it wasn't for those jokes I wouldn't of torn up my family at 16. Maybe if it wasn't for those jokes I wouldn't be the broken girl I am at 18. Maybe if it wasn't for those jokes i wouldn't of hated myself, hated my body and hated my life. Maybe if it wasn't for those jokes I wouldn't for been laughed at while bleeding, curled up on the floor. Maybe if it wasn't for those jokes I wouldn't of been threatened to be killed if I told anyone. Maybe if it wasn't for those jokes I wouldn't have panic attacks every time I see something that reminds me of him. Maybe if it wasn't for those jokes I wouldn't have scars all over my body. Maybe if it wasn't for those jokes I wouldn't live in constant fear of what happened to me to happen to another helpless little girl. So I am going to be "that" girl because some people take the oh so funny jokes too far and it's my job to protect other young girls from experiencing what it's like to be the pun in the joke"
