I was thinking abt all the possible bagginshield everyone lives au endings and ofc I'll eat them all up equally but my personal two cents are:

1. Realistic ending (based on character development and basic fantasy story formulas) - thorin's quest is victorious and he becomes king. he gets everything he fought for so it's a happy ending. meanwhile bilbo also stays in erebor, following his development of someone who just wanted to stay at home into an adventurer who went beyond his comfort zone realizing that home isn't just a place but it could be the people you learned to love along the journey

2. kinda unrealistic but a favorite of mine - both bilbo and thorin retire in the shire. there's something so damn adorable about thorin learning to live the simple way hobbits do, especially after a life of hardship and expectations of being a leader. bilbo being smug bc he's the supposed confirmed bachelor who somehow bagged himself a hot dwarf. also the idea of them living in a home that bilbo's father made for his mother sounds so romantic.

3. extremely self indulgent like it's probs unrealistic but I'd want to explore this option and I'm curious how this would work - they do not stay in erebor or even the shire but either become traveling adventurers (esp w bilbo wanting to become an adventurer ever since he was a kid) who help other people out OR they retire in a cottage somewhere in the woods near settlements but isolated enough for them to have their own space peacefully
