not saying I put an extraneous amount of thought into this but if I had only the sesame street puppets at my disposal in a time of war, I would, without a doubt, sacrifice elmo even for the smallest bit of distraction and I would put big bird as an ambulance driver to keep him off the front lines
people who want to argue for the bioessentialization of mental illness (the idea that mental illness is a medical condition, a pathology in the brain, rather than a response to environment) will sometimes say that they have no trauma or environmental “risk” factors, or that so-and-so they know had a happy childhood and no scary experiences, etc, so they must have Feels Bad For No Reason Disease. there’s such a frantic denial in this, such a burying of one’s head in the sand. an invalidation of suffering.
the world we live in is simply hostile to human life, and all animal life, and plant life, and planetary life. global capitalism has made the world a nightmare for most of its residents–not in the same ways or to the same degrees, but a disconnected, precarious, displacing, overworked, alienated, dying place nonetheless. no one is protected from this fact, whether they have the critical consciousness to identify it or not.
Harry for Saturday Night Live 2019.
capitalism is like. resting is a waste of time. eating is a waste of time. sleeping is a waste of time. playing is a waste of time. living is a waste of time. you must prove your worth to live here and everything else is a waste. and we’re taught not to question it.
i will eat my meals and take my naps and sit on benches and i will stop to do nothing and i will cherish those moments.

THIS PICTURE JUST MADE MY LIFE.
The funniest part about the “bad apple” flavor of cop apologia is that the cops disagree
Every time a pig kills an unarmed innocent person and has any kind of trial or review, the defense is always that he’s a good man, he was doing his job perfectly, the entire institution of the police stands behind him and his actions, and the murder of innocent people is an unavoidable consequence of the existence of police, if not an intentional aspect of their job description. They literally tell everyone that innocent people will continue to be killed as long as cops exist and there’s nothing that can be done to stop them, and then they expect you to be okay with that
Cops want to make it very clear to you that if you condemn one cop, you condemn all cops. Maybe you should trust them
All Cops Are Bad Apples
cowboys are frequently secretly fond of each other 🤠💘
[ID: a black and white relief print of two cowboys stylized like a vintage comic illustration. the cowboy on the left is lying on his stomach with his hands resting on his chin and looking up at the other cowboy, who is serenading him with an acoustic guitar. behind them in the night sky are stars and a crescent moon. printed text on the bottom reads “cowboys are frequently secretly fond of each other.” End ID.]
