Quest Bars
I feel like I discovered these way too late in the game. I started my weightloss journey in September of 2013 and have now successfully lost 65 pounds as of Febuary 16, 2014. I've been restricting my carbs and controlling my calories as well as making sure I get tons of protein. Thats pretty much it. I've had a difficult time dealing with sweet tooth cravings and just pretty much just stopped eating sugary things cold turkey. I've been completely aware of the presence of quest bars, but wasn't 100 percent in the know of how "net carbs" worked. How can fiber take away carbs? Thats some gimic I wasn't going to fall for. Until I did additional research on the matter I totally thought it was some sales pitch. Theres actual science behind it, and science is something I totally trust it. So basicaly fiber is carbs, thats something I did not understand at first - and your body doesnt use carbs that come from fiber in the same way it uses carbs that come from sugar or from pasta for example, thus leaving you with net carbs. Having carbs is not a bad thing neccessarily, your body runs off carbs, but if you're not excercising daily like you should your body is storing those carbs into fat for use later - like when our ancestors used to hunt for food and went long periods without it - our bodys just havent gotten with the times of excess food galore. Anyways, now that you understand how net carbs work - now let me explain to you the amazement of Quest bars. So I searched high and low for the lowest prices on Quest bars and really found the best prices either on amazon.com or iherb.com - a nice lady who follows my instagram gave me her code to receive a discount on my first order on iherb.com which I gladly took advantage of. You can use it too: PFV312 will give you a $10.00 dollar discount off at least 40 dollars - or $5.00 off of 20 - totally cool right? That makes a box that normally retails at about 36 dollars only 21. Anyways, I've ordered off both because not all flavors are on amazon.com My favorite flavor of Quest bars has got to be double chocolate chunk - and I suggest for everyones first bar to try the chocolate flavors first before going off to the fruity types. Double chocolate chunk microwaved for a good 20-30 seconds will give you the most delicious protein cookie. You can't even believe its good for you. Most bars contain about 21 grams of protein and an average of 19 grams of fiber with a net carb between 3-5 which is totally cool. I also heard for every gram of fiber in a food you can deduct about 3 calories, which means an average of about 60 calories are deducted from a bar that generally contains about 180 leaving you with a totally low calorie and low bar breakfast or midday meal. I know, I know, health math is weird. It took me a while to understand it myself. My second favorite flavor is probably the Cookie Dough, but then again I haven't had the opportunity to try their Cookies and Cream flavor yet. Third place certainly goes to their brownie flavor. They also have a white chocolate rasberry flavor which I really do like because its one of the only flavors I'm totally cool with eating right out of the packaging. Flavors I really didn't care for are probably the more elaborate ones like cinnimon roll and strawberry cheesecake, they just aren't the same. Their mixed berries flavor was last on my list to try but was surprisingly tasty. All in all, I'm eating these bars to cure a sweet craving thats been raging inside for 6 months, so I'm totally going for anything chocolate and the rest I'm not really into repurchasing, so when I do repurchase I'm going to buy double chocolate chunk first, cookies and cream second, and cookie dough third. I hope you find this helpful! All products were purchased with my own money and all thoughts are my own, who knows, maybe you'll love the lemon flavored quest bar, but hey thats your thing not mine. We'll just agree to disagree.
Addicted
So life lately has been a bit better, I'm in demand at work, being highly recognized for my talent, dedication, and ideas. I just got back from an awesome road trip through California, Oregon and Washington as well.
Right now I'm addicted. They say you get one tattoo and you're hooked and that is very very true. I've been watching every tattoo related reality show, my favorite thus far being Ink Master on Hulu, LA Ink ( don't care for Miami Ink) and I've been planning out my next few tattoos.
I actually scheduled my second piece, and since my artist does her work by the hour, I plan on getting a few of my smaller ideas done while we're at it.
I'm a huge fan of WELL DONE tattoos - key word right there. I'm also a huge believer in the words: a cheap tattoo and good and a good tattoo ain't cheap. I always recommend people do their research, this is something that will be on your body for FOREVER, I mean unless you like scarring up your body with laser tattoo removal or a super dark coverup tattoo. Look at books, don't feel bad if you walk out of a shop, offending a mediocre artist is better then letting them practice on your body.
My Rules to tattoos
* No less then 5 years of tattoo experience and don't get tattooed by an apprentice
* If you see more bad work then good work, run.
* Go to an artist that specializes in the style of tattoo that you want. (color, black and white, japanese, american traditional, watercolor, ect, realism, ect)
*think twice about those hipster tattoos - infinity signs, birds flying, dandelions, owls, sunflowers - yeah those may be popular right now, but so was chinese symbols and tribal ten years ago.
*not ever tattoo has to have a personal meaning, but every tattoo should be specific to you. How terrible would it be to do a quick google search and see 50 of the same tattoos on other people on the first page.
*rule of thumb is don't tattoo the hands, neck, or the face as one of your first tattoos.
*rule of me, I don't care, I like small finger tattoos haha. But full hand tattoos before you have a sleeve is just plain weird looking.
* I personally think you should wait till you're in your twenties to start getting tattoos, that gives you a few years experience in the work world, that way you can know what you can get away with and what you cannot. Tattooing a brain on your head is not going to go well in the work field.
*Last but not least, do it because you want to, don't let others sway you from being you, nor let others make you feel like you should have a tattoo.
You're going to be ugly when you're old whether you have tattoos or not, so create memories, make your body a canvas of all your life experiences.
Luscious Lashes
Thick, long, beautiful natural lashes is what every woman wants, you buy loads of different mascaras every year hoping to achieve the impossible, the look of fake lashes without wearing fake lashes.
I was contacted by a company called Measurable Difference, their goal is to provide products that work, products that show a "measurable difference" They asked me to review their lash product line and show all of you the results. I received these products as compensation for this review and all opinions are mine and mine alone. They are completely honest and I'm not being paid for a favorable review.
I received three products, a mascara, a brow gel, and then a clear liner that is used to grow your lashes. I've tried all three products out, but in order to know the long term affects of these products I will have to come back for an update in a month or so.
Damnation Hair Review
I love the look of dreadlocks, and found this Etsy seller through searches, she seemed to have decent prices and good quality items as well as a pretty good turn around for the custom products, so I decided to shell out the cash and went for a full head of dreads.
I should have took the initial warnings and ran, but no, I wanted what I wanted and I decided to give this etsy seller a chance. First things first, communication with this seller was awful. AWFUL, horrendous, lacking, non existent and any comparable word to describe just plain bad. When you send someone a large amount of money, the comfort of getting email updates mean everything.
She does not accept paypal, and I'm not stupid enough to put my card information anywhere else. I went out of my way to buy a prepaid Visa card and pay the extra costs for getting that card just to buy from her. It was pretty frustrating, but again, I want what I want so I'll pay for it.
Its always fun when you can score a free lipstick at MAC - I always take advantage of the fact you can return 6 empties for a free lipstick. I went there with my 6 empties in a plastic baggie to be greeted by a lovely MAC makeup artist - he and I had a great conversation about hair, and how I should start trying out more bold lipsticks. He showed me this extraordinarily dark purple black color and I quickly declined his suggestion. I don't think I could pull that off in the summer at least haha...
So they were all out of my favorite color 'Fleshpot' so I ended up getting the typical 'Myth' nude lipstick - but thats not all! I decided to have a little fun and was contemplating an orange, coral or purple lipstick - by recommendation of my new friend - I decided to go with Nicki Minajs' Viva Glam Nicki 2.
I'm not a fan at all of her music or her attitude, but I'm certainly a fan of the lipstick haha! Its very bright and bold, but pale enough that I feel comfortable wearing it outside of my typical nude.
Thank you for posting your review of the ring you bought on shadora. I found that website and have been looking at it for weeks, unsure if it was actually trustworthy. So thank you! I shall shop :D
Oh not a problem! I really think the ring is gorgeous! Very nice quality!
Do you still use the makeup you got on mawcosmetics? I'm thinking about purchasing the naked palette (I know it's not real) but I want something to carry in my travel makeup bag. Is it worth the money? How pigmented are they and how much fall out do they have?
I threw mine away it started to smell awful. Don't purchase from them! Buy drugstore if you can't afford the real thing. All their makeup is really gross!
These are some pretty sick custom True Blood plugs from Shameless plugs. You can choose any image you'd like and the owner really works with you to make sure they are exactly how you'd like. They sell for 27 dollars on their website for the double flares which is what I generally wear. I feel that the customer service is top notch, he really cares about his customers and wants to make sure the item you are buying are exactly how you want them to look. The only negatives I can say is I'm used to wearing organic wood plugs, so these are obviously quite a bit heavier, an the double flares are quite a bit bigger then I'm used to. I do feel that the prices are a bit high for steel tunnel plugs, but that's just my opinion. I do feel they are really well made though. Check out shameless plugs and get you some custom plugs of your choice!
Too Face Primed and Poreless
So last you heard from me, I was completely dissing the Urban Decay face primer - so I was on the search for a good primer. I went to Sephora to pick up a few new items and at check out the lady gave me a receipt and a goodie bag full of all sorts of deluxe size samples. In the bag was a fairly decent size of the Too Faced Primed and Poreless - I had been wanting to try this so I was stoked to find it in there.
The actual formulation is a fair skin toned color - this is different from other primers I've tried that were just clear - when I put it on my skin I needed hardly any, so this little sample would last a good two weeks of use if I stretched it. It made my skin feel unbelievable soft and evened out my complexion which I didn't expect it to do at all. I noticed my foundation went on a lot easier and stayed on looking flawless all day. This primer gets a thumbs up from me! Gonna still test out the Smash Box primer and let you know which one gets my vote, so far so great!
How to ELIMINATE breakage!
If you're experiencing breakage due to bleaching or coloring your hair, most likely, this will be your holy grail hair product. Last year I had bleached my hair platinum, everything was perfect and my hair was as healthy as platinum hair could possibly be, until one faithful day where my hair dreams turned into a mullet nightmare. I stupidly let my bleaching over process while doing my roots, and I started experiencing terrible breakage. My beautiful A-line hair cut, turned into a dreaded mullet, and I was forced to dye my hair a dark brown just so I wouldn't have to bleach it anymore.
For months I spent a big dime on hair products that promised help with breakage and nothing worked. One day, a nice lady at Sallys recommended ( after about 4 months of searching) this product called Aphogee "Two-Step Protein Treatment" It was literally 3 dollars and I didn't expect any results. Instantly I noticed my hair being stronger and a lot less breakage after using it, it rebuilds the protein in your hair that was lost from bleaching, and unlike those fancy expensive products I've bought, it focuses much more on actually working then smelling pretty and making your hair so shiny you think its healthy ( this stuff smells AWFUL, but it works;])
If you're experiencing anything like I was, save your hair and use this product! Do it no more then once a month to prevent breakage even more.
P.S - I no longer have a mullet, just nice long-er stronger hair. :D
NOT WORTH THE HYPE!
Hello all, thought I'd start this month off with some helpful tips of what products to avoid, these are either products I hate or just don't feel are worth the money.
My BIGGEST fail lately is Urban Decays Face Primer - this stuff SUCKS. It doesn't do anything for my skin at ALL, does NOT help my makeup stay on longer AT ALL - not only that, but it smells AWFUL. I bought two of these from the Urban Decay website when they were on offer - FAIL.
Shisedo Loose Face Powder - this powder is near $40 bucks, what a rip off!! It doesn't do ANYTHING better for my makeup that my $3 dollar NYC powder can't do better.
Urban Decay Pocket Rocket - these were also on offer when I was purchasing the primer - the smell like caramel and feet. SO GROSS - plus they are super goopy. Only good thing is the half dress man on the tube.
Urban Decay 24/7 eyeliners - I DON'T get what these 24/7 liners are all hyped up about - Milani has better liners for a 1/4 of the price. Not worth the price.
Tarte Amazonian Clay Blushes - AGAIN - I don't understand the hype - these don't last any longer than any other blush I use and I really don't care for the colors in the collection - sure could stand to be more unique.
L'oreal 24 hour Eyeshadow - maybe this is just me - and most likely its just due to me being stubborn - I'm addicted to my Urban Decay eyeshadows ( Yes, I've been hating on the company a bit in this post, but their eyeshadows are bomb) - I just don't use the colors, I don't see whats so wonderful about the product, and it just didn't look good on my eyes at all when I wore them.
Now lets add a little LIGHT to this post. A few products you SHOULD check out.
Urban Decays Eyeshadows - I stick to neutrals most of the time, but Urban Decay sure knows how to kick brown up 10 notches. They have some of the most beautiful shades and most pigmented colors. The palletes are REALLY worth it when you can get them, Naked Pallete doesn't have all the really pretty highlights I love and browns I love - weirdly enough. My secret loves are "X" "SWF" and "Roach"
Kat Von D Foundation - I HATE her concealer its SO thick and just too much to me, but her foundation, its like heaven sent. Its quite possibly one of the best foundations I've ever used.
NYC loose Powder - this is like 3 dollars and is seriously the best loose powder I've ever used. It has no scent, its really light, and it doesn't give me a white cast on my face or change the color of my foundation.
Makeup Forever Smokey Lash - This IS my holy grail mascara - and I really could give a shit less about how my lashed look - but when I started using this, I could REALLY tell a difference and I never thought I would. People started complimenting me on my lashes all the time, it went from being my least cared about product, to my most favorite.
Mac Mineralize Skin Finish - I don't think you can go wrong with an MSF - perfect for highlighting and lasts forever.
Mac Lipsticks - DON'T waste your money on other high end lipsticks, this is your one stop shop to any lip color you could possibly need.
Favorite MAC Lipsticks!
It may not come to you as a surprise - I love my nude lips - and NO other cosmetic company has a better selection of nude lipsticks than MAC. I buy all my MAC Cosmetic products from MacCosmetics.com as there is no MAC Counter near my area. Its always kind of concerning when purchasing a lip color online because I am very particular about what colors I like the wear on my lips - so I thought this might help a few of you out!!
I have quite light skin - usually the second lightest yellow toned foundation in most every brand - if that helps - I like my lips to be close to the lightness of my skin, but NOT skin toned. I don't want them to blend in completely, just want them to be a light nude.
I've tried pretty much every nude other than Crem'd nude on the Mac website - my absolute favorite lipstick from Mac was a limited edition color called Beauty - which was a very pale baby pink - unfortunately I left it in my pants pocket one day and it got washed in the washer -_- - To replace this color I tried out "Pretty Please" - Pretty Please is not pigmented AT ALL, but over something like Macs Lip Erase, its a pretty close match.
My favorite NUDE lipstick would have to be "Flesh Pot" Its not the dreaded white nude lips on my ( but someone with a darker skin tone then me, it could be) Its the perfect light warm toned nude and I absolutely love it. Its really creamy and really pigmented.
My favorite pink toned nude would be Mac's "Myth" - this color is infamous and well known - for a reason for sure!!! Its really pretty and a mix of my two other fav's - the best of both worlds for sure!! - as for other nudes, I've learned to stick with these - staying away from limited addition for sure as well because that will only end in me falling for a color I can't get again. Haha.
What are YOUR favorite nude or pale pink lipsticks?
Black Friday Shopping?? Cyber Monday??
Hey Suga! Did any of you all score some sweet deals for Black Friday - and who's excited for Cyber Monday? I'll be honest, I'm not one to fight the crowds on Black Friday, but shopping deals from the convenience of my own home on Cyber Monday, I'd say yes to that!
I'll keep all you posted on any sweet deals I find - in the meantime lets talk about some of my fave's I've found recently.
Recent Faves
Mac's lipstick in MYTH - this is a pretty awesome nude I've been wearing a lot. It completely kicked my OCC habit when they got rid of my favorite liptar - this color is a lot warmer and a loooot more moisturizing - with the added benefit of NOT looking cracky on my lips like my OCC liptars do.
and the BIGGEST winner as of late is NYX's Matte Bronzers - I seriously have bought every high end bronzer there was, Lorac, Urban Decay, Mac, Tarte, and none of them were as good as this bronzer - I bought all three shades. Amazing, and it was seriously only 7.99 at Ulta. I will never use another bronzer.
I went from using Shiseido $40 dollar powder to using ELF's HD powder which is a shocking $6 bucks!! And the best part? ITS BETTER!! It make my face SO soft and has a really natural look to it.
Its always AWESOME when you find everyday deals like that, its much nicer to be able to keep some cash in my pockets and get great quality stuff too.
In other news, I've been ordering quite a few pairs of plugs from all over the place, I got these AMAZING Buddha plugs made of all organic materials, they are BEAUTIFUL but were so expensive (I've been wanting them for months)
I think they're absolutely gorgeous! I'll be getting a new order in soon from a website I couldn't find a lot of news on - the prices were amazing, so I'll let you know quality wise and all the news once it arrives. It is wholesale so you have to spend at least $100 dollars, but I got over 17 pairs for that price and they all would retail at least 30 bucks a pair on any other website. I'll keep ya'll updated!!!

Oofos RAVE and GIVEAWAY!!
So.. I'm not even kidding when I say these are the most comfortable shoes I have ever tried on. There is a lot of explanation behind the technology of these OOfoam flip flops, but I just want to give my opinion on how I actually feel about them.
So the first time I tried these on, I was seriously surprised - I thought these would be just like any normal flipflop with a slight cushion on the sole, but the entire shoe is a cushion. My feet never hurt when I'm wearing these no matter how far I walk or run ( YES you can run in these) The flip flop itself somehow absorbs like 30 percent of the shock of when you're just doing normal day to day stuff. I actually feel like there is a bounce in my step when I wear these and I've been wearing them every single day. I personally prefer the black ones as I feel they look the most normal, but you can totally go for the fuchsia Tangerine or Mocha if thats what you like.
Bottom line: I will FOREVER repurchase and wear these shoes, I kid you not.
Now, who wants a pair for themselves?! Yes, I will be giving away a pair of YOUR choice of Oofos just because I love them THAT much and really want to share how amazing these are with someone super lucky - just go to http://www.Oofos.com and pick which color and style you'd like the win
They come in two styles - the Thong style of flip flop, or the Slide style - The slide only comes in Mocha and Black.

Candii Blossom Cosmetics
I was contacted by the owner of Candii Blossom Cosmetics to do a review on a few items from her shop. Candii Blossom Cosmetics mostly specializes in mineral eyeshadows and has quite a few unique collections of eyeshadows and also some really pretty lip glosses as well. She also sells some really different jewelry pieces too.
I haven't gotten a chance with such a busy schedule lately to try out all the colors she sent, as some of them are quite bright and exciting and not so good for every day work makeup - but the shadows I did try were quite pretty. I really loved the brown shades I received, somber and brownie - these are the shades I have used the most - they do appear more metallic in the pictures, but they are quite lovely for a quite basic brown eye with a bit of shimmer, although not so noticeable once actually on the eye.
My FAVORITE shadow that I received so far has to be Jose & Lime - this is a multi use shade, with a base or primer it appears more goldy or slightly yellowish, but without primer or a base, its a really pretty iridescent highlight that isn't too in your face but really pretty.
Like I mentioned earlier, she also has quite a few unique pieces of jewelry, my favorite one that I received is this royal blue ribbon and faux pearl adjustable bracelet, its really cool because I can wear it around my wrist, or higher up on my arm when I throw on a few different bracelets. It really like the ruffled look of it. I don't see these on the site at the moment, but hopefully she gets more in soon so you can check them out.
She also has a few lip glosses, her lip glosses are pretty pigmented as long as its a darker shade - I'm not a HUGE lip gloss person, but these aren't sticky and like I said, are pretty pigmented if you choose the right shade - you really just need to read the description of each shade, she has some that are really pigmented and others that are meant to just add a nice iridescence or glitter.
If you'd like to check out all the stuff I mentioned, just go to http://www.artfire.com/ext/shop/studio/CandiiBlossomCosmetics Thanks for reading, and thank you Candii Blossom Cosmetics.
