"My most recent assignment at the Academy as I work towards completing my thesis and pursuit the Doctorate I have received my fellowship for was a challenge that I eventually enjoyed. I was instructed to find subjects whom I did not know personally. While it was terrifying initially given the invasive nature of staring at individuals for hours attempting to convey them to the page I found myself... inspired by them, considering in some way that doing this allowed me to try and understand who they were as they took shape on my canvases. I found myself writing their stories in my mind, and attempting to convey not only what I saw but all they did not show me of themselves. My love affair with the medium continues as I find new and more nuanced ways to enjoy the communication that is unspoken in illustration. That what is so captivating about this challenge is the efforts we make as artists to understand who it is we paint as we do it. Learning more with every stroke of the pen who they are and who they show us. Charcoal, and parchment, paint and canvas all whispering their secrets to us who try to capture a sliver of the person there waiting to be revealed. I hope only that when I share these pieces with their subjects they feel a modicum of my awe and respect, my gratitude for letting me see them in a frozen moment, and that they know I wished to do each and every one of them Justice. -Cavello" TLDR: (Okay silly IC post over; I just wanted him to have a reason to make art while I was, Cava had to wax poetic about how much he loves art like always <3. Easily the only thing he might love as much as @erathir-violys . THANK YOU ALL FOR THE AMAZING ART FIGHT THIS YEAR!!! I hope you all feel the things my dramatic artist describes much more articulately above. @handhourgalleries @orfeoarte @tamalas-art @pyran-xi @kjetll @chortanator-blog @gaallo @dragonsiblings @yamasakihaku @imperfect-masterpieces @lurinoodle @thegreencount and so so so many more who made this year amazing and fun @artfight )
