This is your random American Christmas Day reminder that if you (general you) celebrate major holidays like Christmas, Thanksgiving, Easter, etc, and you have family members who work retail and you hate that they have to work on these holidays instead of being with their families....

.....that means that you (general you) need to, full stop:

If you are going out and buying all of the fixings for a thanksgiving or christmas dinner, or last minute christmas presents on Thanksgiving day or Christmas day, you are directly, *directly* contributing to that store being open and forcing its employees to work on this day.

You can apologize to the teenage cashier all you want about "oh, sorry you have to work today" or "Oh, it's so unfair you're here working" --

-- that doesn't change the fact that you, being there, spending money at this store, is the reason that store is open on these major holidays and forcing employees to work them.

If you are shopping retail stores on major holidays, you are directly informing the CEOs that its profitable to stay open on major holidays.

if you want the underpaid retail employees (who often are not even getting holiday pay bonuses!) to be able to actually spend the full day at home with their families or friends, you need to stop shopping on major holidays, and get all of your friends and family to do so as well.

Rally your local community into not shopping on major holidays.

If the store is open, pretend it's not.

If you need a cup of sugar or milk, pop over to your neighbors like in the old days and ask if they've got some, and bring some cookies or another treat with you as a neighborly bribe/thank you gift.

Even if they don't have whatever ingredient you're after on hand to spare, give them a holiday treat and a happy holidays on your way to the next house.

Foster a sense of community, and neighbors helping neighbors.

Please, as someone who's worked retail for years, if you want people to stop working holidays, then you need to make it unprofitable for a store to be open; make that grocery store a ghost town so it costs more to keep the lights on for the day than is made in profit.

If you're still gonna go shopping on holidays, instead of apologizing to the workers for "making you work today", bring a genuine smile to those stressed out, underpaid workers by handing out factory-sealed candy bars or other treats that are fully labeled with the ingredients (in case of allergies/safety concerns). Even just a chocolate bar can make someone's day!

anyways:

TL;DR: If you don't want retail workers to have to work on major holidays, you need to personally stop shopping on major holidays, and do what you can to get your local community to stop as well.

I dont really care if you use the term bisexual or pansexual, but what i DO care about is that you understand that bisexuality at NO stage in history was EVER trans-exclusionary. Bisexuality has always included trans folks, and non-binary folks, and the entire spectrum of gender between male and female, as well as Definitively Gender and agender. It has ALWAYS meant "attraction to more than one gender." It has NEVER meant "attraction to cis men and women only."

So, pan, bi, use whichever label you will. But do NOT buy into the recent-years innacurate concept that bisexuality is attraction to cis men and women only, because thats literally never been the case.

So literally its just......

bi colours = "same gender, opposite gender, and other genders"

pan colours = "men, women, and nb people."

Those two things are...... not all that different to each other.

The purple has always, literally since the flag was created, meant "more genders."

And bisexuality included "more genders" in the definition before the bi flag was created, too. Thats why they included the purple bar in the first place, because it was reflective of bisexual people's attraction to and relationship with gender.

If you feel that pansexual suits you better, or you like the pan flag more, then thats fine -- but don't spread the misconception that bisexuality is remotely exclusionary. Because its literally never been.

daisy choosing to drive home after her every semblance of choice was torn away from her, reclaiming her autonomy to calm herself down after. and then she’s forced to choose between plowing through some poor woman that runs toward the car or veering away and driving head on at an oncoming car—a choice between destroying someone and then moving on like it never mattered at all, or putting herself in the way of a brutal collision that could very well ruin her life. (which deeply emulates the choice she faces between jay and tom after the plaza)

and nick. he never drives in the novel. not once. his old dodge sits there stagnant and he never takes anything into his own hands. he is constantly driven around, moved from place to place, and he just sits there and observes. the only time he makes choices that have any weight at all is with jay and even there he downplays the significance or influence of them. he so desperately wishes he could say he was an innocent bystander in what happened and he weaves it into the way he illustrates control and choice

ponyboy and chet were the first two to use the app and they both use it religiously

after they found out that both of them are super active on it, they forced soda onto it

and then after that, the three of them made paul, darry, cherry, and marcia get on it

and then it eventually just continued spreading through the group

the only two that held out were dally and bob; dally because he's doesn't actually really likes movies that much (which is embarrassing with the amount of time he spends at the drive in and the movies), and then bob because he did not want anything to do with whatever app chet and pony of all people wanted everyone to get

eventually bob downloaded it for 'completely unrelated reasons' (definitely had nothing to do with the fact that he felt left out being one of the only 2 without it)

and then dally finally relented and downloaded it; he set up a profile and a top 4 but he does not log anything (when he does actually watch something) unless he's watching with johnny and pony and then they make him log it (he just marks it as watched without any stars or reviews or anything)

melvin and sergei share an account because they always watch movies together and they swear it’s really cool that they share an account. they’re trying to become one of those super popular accounts that people follow because they’re invested in their takes on movies (their only followers are the group)
