ASPD Luke

No not scandalous "omg sociopath" Luke I mean actual "I struggle with learned emotions and feel a relief of emotional pressure when I do something destructive" Luke Normally he's acting pro-socially. Masking. Being sweet and innocent because that seems to get the best response out of his family. He's not crazy, he doesn't have strange thought patterns or delusions. He just struggles with compassion, shame, regret, empathy, etc. He does kind things, but not because he gets the same rush as the rest of us from doing something kind. He behaves well because it suits him and gets him what he wants, but he isn't particularly bothered when people are upset with him. And it fully recolors the Driftmark moment because of COURSE Luke didn't just stab him in the arm or push him over or throw something at him. Of COURSE Luke stabbed him in the most destructive place he could find. Because for him that is the ONLY release valve he's got when he's feeling so much pressure and so many emotions. And afterwards he feels this sense of euphoria. Not because he hurt Aemond, that's almost secondary, but because being that destructive was like a drug. All of the anxiety and pressure and anger was just replaced by this glow of positive feeling. And so of course Luke smirks at Aemond over the pig, because in that moment of HUGE amounts of pressure for him on one of the worst days of his life where so much is happening, Luke just needs that release of starting shit. Of destroying something. So he destroys Aemond's composure, and the dinner, and any chance of reconciliation. And he doesn't feel bad, he doesn't feel like he's done something wrong. He knows it, intellectually. But emotionally? He feels better than he has since Driftmark. And it all comes back to bite him in the ass at Storm's End, where he comes in fully masked and willing to work with everyone and be a good boy. And Aemond is having none of it.
