Early Development Sketches for Klaus by Pascal Campion
relapsing into some major bubbline feelings
“he cried as if his heart would break”
Made something for my favorite moment in Comet In Moominland! At this point in the story the gang has already faced all kinds of crazy, progressively more life threatening situations as they try to reach home before the Comet hits the earth, and throughout it all Snufkin has remained the most calm, carefree, and rational. He’s usually responsible for the quick thinking to get them out of each situation and also for keeping everyone’s spirits up with his wacky stories!!
But then they reach where the sea should have been only to find that it’s been dried up completely. Seeing the ocean just gone after everything turns out to be Snufkin’s breaking point. He loves the sea and everything it represents to him (freedom, adventure, peace, wonder, basically his life philosophy personified). and while he was able to weather everything else the Comet threw at them, he can’t seem to bare this. He surprises everyone when he bursts into tears.
The group’s moral support character/field guide falling apart super highlights exactly how dire the situation/threat of the Comet has become, and how not one soul will be left unaffected by its impact. I love Tove Jansson.
(i love the sea too, snufkin lol)

Running on Air by eleventy7 (aka @tinyhistory)
[useless technical shinfo: I used a bastardised version of a long and short stitch, stem stitch and french knots, silk and cotton blend fabric, 22 different shades of thread and 30cm hoops! it took me about 80 hours in total]
I’m wondering what to even write for this, like, is it even worth it? Am I gonna open my mouth to be met with a “Yeah, we know”? Because I know you know - you knew from the landscapes and the quote.
Anyway, I decided that if I was going to embroider my favourite fics, I’d have to start here. I remember reading ROA for the first time (pre returning to fandom tumblr, pre joining the drarry discord server) and sobbing silently into my pillow for hours trying not to wake up my husband or the pup. A couple of weeks later I sat in front of my therapist and said “look, I’m gonna have to talk to you about this piece of fanfiction I read” because it had touched me so deeply that I couldn’t go on without talking about it.
Running on Air is a beautifully written, intricately built plot and it’s worth a read and a re-read and a re-read again, like… until the end of times. I am forever indebted to eleventy7 for its existence, I am so incredibly emotionally attached to these landscapes and it was wonderful getting to stitch them with my own wee fingers.
(while I’m here, I’d like to publicly express my undying love and gratitude to my darling @dracopottermalfoy for being the loveliest cheerleader, you’re a star)
over the garden wall, down the harvest stair
oh no
Draco opens his mouth but the cliffs are crumbling, falling away like sandcastles, and the terrifying darkness of the storm-wild waves reaches up to eclipse Harry.
He wakes with a painful rush of adrenaline, a cry half-buried in his throat.
