Abdul sent me an estimate on the monthly necessities his group needs to fundraise. If we could have donations mostly cover this every month, it'd mean that my money could support him more through emergencies. In the past I've been supporting them for stuff like rent and food on my own and then fundraising for emergencies but it's more stable to try it the other way around, because that would mean I could save up more for emergencies and wouldn't have to try to scrape together the money in a very short time frame.

This is not meant to sound hostile or vague anyone but this is bothering me. "Inshallah" means "if God wills it". If your intention is to say you hope the hips don't lie but whether the hips lie or not is up to God, then you say "Inshallah the hips don't lie" but if you're trying to say "wow, the hips don't lie" or something similar, which I think is what the op was getting at, then you say "Mashallah the hips don't lie" which means "God has willed it, the hips don't lie"

Unfortunately, I think the ship has sailed. As a black person, my issue with the "bastardizing" of AAVE isn't in the AAVE part so much as the "bastardizing" part. If non-black people were to use AAVE correctly, I would be willing to entertain the "sharing" vs "appropriating" conversation. However, as "woke" and "cancel" and "stan" have shown, I won't have to in the near future.

As such, I hope people learn the difference between "Inshallah" and "Mashallah" if only to keep these terms from becoming ground into unusability

Ahed Alanqar, who is verified #624 on GazaVetters, is a wonderful friend. It's clear within moments of speaking to him that he carries a deep compassion for everyone he meets, and everything around him. The world around him has not always returned this compassion. Before the war started, Ahed owned an aluminum manufacturing workshop with his father, and a house where he lived with his family, including three young daughters. Today, he is surviving off of donations.

Ahed is devoted to his daughters, and when he speaks with me about Iman, who is seven years old, I feel his love for her like it's my own. He told me, "I swear to you, I don't know the taste of sleep, and I stay up many nights thinking about this child and how I will help her." In his own words, his family is his whole life. Iman was injured on her way to a grocery store, when a house nearby was bombed. A large stone struck her feet, causing constant pain and difficulty walking. Iman requires an open reduction and internal fixation surgery on her feet — as Ahed describes it, this is a difficult and expensive surgery, which involves inserting metal plates to hold her bones together for a year until they heal. Because of the blockade and lack of resources in Gaza, Iman must be evacuated outside of Gaza for the procedure. This would be challenging under normal circumstances, but for Ahed's family right now, it won't be possible without donations. Teen’s organs failing & NO TREATMENT in >1 MONTH

19-year-old Khalil Al Habil's liver and kidneys are failing. Shrapnel damage from the bombardment that killed his baby brother Omar has gone mostly untreated due to a lack of funds and resources. The ill effects of this damage have progressed to the point that the organs are losing their ability to function. Khalil urgently needs 3 rounds of treatment to combat the effects of his deteriorating liver and kidneys.

We've paid off the first round of treatments but Khalil has two treatments that he still needs. The second costs about $1,250 usd, but we haven’t made much progress in more than a month and his condition is getting progressively worse. We need to meet this second goal ASAP!!!
