This is a silly post apocalypse setting my brother and I put together. We were talking about various post apocalypse settings, and he came up with the idea of a "post apocalypse sitcom" and we were trying to think of a mundane location but also something important to rebuilding society. It follows the lives of the workers of the last functioning library in the world called Last Alexandria. I was mostly drawing for fun but feel I crammed in one too many silly characters.
John Goodhill: The head librarian, he was just an ordinary office worker until the apocalypse occurred and by slow process of elimination became Last Alexandria's leader. An incredibly mild mannered man, he insists on maintaining the mundanity of the library despite all the strangeness both within and outside.
Simone "Shusher" Schuster: The oldest employee who became a zombie, normally it would make her feral but a lifetime of curation has made her used to her routines and continues her job in undeath, though has occasional lucid moments. While very shortsighted, she has keen hearing and her presence is known by shushes which serve as a means of echolocation and to quiet loud patrons.
Psychopedia Britannica aka "Britany": John's adopted daughter, she escaped from a super soldier program as a child. John rescued her and as she grew older, the genetic augmentations began to manifest, turning her into a powerhouse. Her main duty is to venture out into the wasteland for overdue books, but as the youngest member she also acts as the children's librarian.
Dewey.sys: A robot kiosk and shelving unit meant to aid patrons, while once a fairly simplistic AI, continuous operation has expanded his abilities and has gained sapience. He is hooked into the library's systems, including security, and will maintain his jovial persona even when violently evicting problem patrons.
Bookworms: A catchall term for the various mutated bugs that inhabit the library, when they eat discarded books they gain their knowledge and thus sapience. They live in the basement, attic, and walls of the library where it is rumored they have a whole thriving civilization. Few are capable of speech but are welcome helpers.
Libra: A strange alien that showed up as one of the early patrons at the library, he peruses the shelves within his miniature flying saucer. His mission is to learn as much about humanity as possible before they go extinct, but despite coming to the library for years he is still very ignorant.
Hellvetica: An extradimensional entity bound into the Liber Ignis or "Burning Book", she is a being of forbidden knowledge who when released will lead the world to ruin. Fortunately the world already fell, leaving her trapped. Left without purpose she has joined the library to help humanity recover so that she may destroy it herself.
