Hey Throners! I’m super excited for another great/agonizing/awesome/dragontastic season of Game of Thrones!

To get us excited, I found this awesome image created by a fellow enthusiast. It’s sooooo good because it’s sooooo true. 

Some of these people are still alive and we’ll get to see their games this season. But I can’t wait for their plans to blow up in their faces. It’s going to be harder with the undead but Cersei - I hope Khaleesi feeds her to one of the dragons!

Or, maybe Jon Snow kills them all and lives happily ever after. A girl can dream...

TWD Finale Theories - Who dies?

Everyone - including yours truly - is in a tizzy about the finale on Sunday. I’m excited - we’re finally at war but I’m a little weary. I know we’re going to lose a few people we love. And the last time I prepared myself to lose someone we loved - we lost two of the best. Brutally. Throw up still comes up my mouth when I think of Negan bashing their heads in. 

I think we’ll lose Sasha for sure. Rosita? Maybe cause she has a death wish. But I know, without a doubt, we’ll lose a core member too. It’s not Rick because it’s not his time yet. It’s not Michonne because we’re still seeing her grow as a character. As much as I hate to say this - I wonder if we’re gearing up to to lose our precious Daryl. 

I know. It’s terrible. It’s a terrible terrible terrible theory and I hope to god it’s wrong. But Daryl is going through personal stuff - he blames himself for Glenn. I think his guilt will make him go hard during the war and with so many feelings bursting out of him, I think he’ll make a mistake and someone will get him. Someone will shoot or stab him. 

He’ll live just long enough for Carol to come to him and tell him she loves him. I have never in my life wanted to be more wrong. 

I just wonder - with all of the growth we’ve seen characters go through this season - Daryl has sort of turned inside himself. He feels guilty for his friend’s death, he’s more mad and harder than ever. That makes him badass but where does he go from here? Is there more growth or will he always be the mad badass sidekick? 

The other theory I just saw on FB is that we’re losing more than one core member. Someone mentioned we may be losing the entire right side of the Sunday Dinner table. 

Holy Smokes! That’s a lot of dying and a lot of crying. I guess we’re just going to have to watch with a lot of wine and tissues!!!

TWD: Something they need

This episode had so many great moments. It also had a few fishy ones. Let’s get to it!

- Uh oh. Aaron’s boyfriend Eric joined them on the journey to Oceanside. He even spoke a few lines. Poor guy. I don’t know even know what he said but it just sealed his fate. He’s not making it out of this season! (Sidenote: Now that we know Jesus is up for grabs - maybe after mourning Eric - Aaron will move on to cuter things.)

- I’m a little shocked and sad that they didn’t show us the damage that Sasha did. Negan references it but I feel like we should have seen it. We know Sasha isn’t going to make it so I would have liked to see her go all G.I. Jane on the Sanctuary. That would have made her death worth it. I wonder what else they have on store for her. 

- I have a soft spot for Negan. He’s hot. He’s charming. I love love love to hate him. But I have to say, he made me love him just a little bit more in this episode when he killed Rapey Davey. I think it showed us a little of who Negan was before the  outbreak. He is vehemently against it and killed Davey on the spot. On the other hand, though, he has all of these wives who he uses. And he’s okay with using them for sex. That’s the complexity of Negan. There’s a little good but still a lot of bad. 

- My favorite lines of the night - I’m here to protect the pregnant lady. I don’t need a pregnant lady to protect me. MAGGGGIIIIEEEEEEE! Help me! (Sidenote: how preggers is Maggie supposed to be because she’s not showing at all?)

- Also, Gregory, please go find your balls. Are you packing a bag to go see Simon so that you can get some balls? 

- The survivors made it to Oceanside and Tara is trying to get Natania to listen. I’m trying to listen to what she’s saying but the only thing I’m thinking about is how much this lady looks like the Terminus lady. What if they were sisters torn apart by the outbreak?! What if the whole story of the Saviors killing their husbands, brothers, etc. was just a story? What if they are secretly eating the males the way they did at Terminus? I know! I couldn’t stop thinking about it either. 

- The takeover of Oceanside is brilliant. Bombs go off outside of the village and the guys guide them to one place. And then the walkers come and they all worked together. Awesomesauce. I really dug the way they worked together. I hope some of these ladies join our friends. I also hope next week goes as smoothly as this did. 

- Also, if you are living in a man-less village  and the first man faces you see are Daryl, Aaron and Jesus....don’t you sort of feel like you’ve died and gone to Heaven? I would love to be a part of that man sandwich. 

How is Negan going to use Sasha? He’s not going to have her join his team - he hasn’t broken her yet - so what exactly is he doing? Is he just using her as a hostage? I also still do not want to believe that Eugene is Negan. He can still be faking right? I mean, he still loves his friends...he wouldn’t just switch teams like that....although Negan treats him like a contributor and a leader. Rick and team never did that. They just sort of tolerated him. So maybe he did switch. I just hate that idea. 

Other tidbits:

- Loved Tara giving Rachel the finger. I don’t remember why but that kid deserves it. 

- Carl giving Enid the truth - that he thinks about those he has killed and those he hasn’t killed often - is progressing their relationship nicely. By this time next season, he might get to third base - while on rollarskates. 

- Daryl lunging at Dwight. Yes. I can’t forget Easy Street either! He must at least get one punch in. Please, Rick, pretty please!

I can’t believe we’re FINALLY headed to WAR. I can’t wait!!! Who do you think kills Negan? I would love for it to be one of our strong women to carry on the strong women theme. Maybe Carol or Maggie. Or maybe even Enid. THAT would be awesome. 

Also, besides Sasha and Aaron’s boyfriend, who else do you think dies?

TWD: Bury me here...with cobbler

We are one step closer to seeing the war, people! Morgan’s other self came back yesterday and in turn Badass Carol is back and the King now understands that he must fight. Rise up people! Rise up! Here are my thoughts for a surprisingly good episode (especially without Richonne or Daryl). 

- One melon. That can’t be good. 

- OMG. We’re opening to black?! This makes me nervous. The Sopranos taught me that nothing good comes about during the black fade. In this case, Carol is having a nightmare, which the reality of what happened is probably worse of what she was dreaming about. She knows Daryl lied and needs Morgan to confirm it. 

- She killed the walkers with a street sign! It gives new meaning to street signs. 

- I’m not going to lie. I’m not a fan of Morgan but I like how controlled he is (well for now anyway) and how he offers to go with her to Alexandria so that she can hear the truth. “That’s between you and Daryl.” Because obviously there is a her and Daryl (#Caryl for life!)

- Uh oh. Ben is being clingy. He wants to “learn” from Carol. I wonder if that’s a ruse for just walking her home to keep an eye on her for the King. 

- “Shiva likes you.” “That’s what I’m afraid of.” “I think I just pissed myself.” LOL. I like Nabela already. 

- Oh no. More Ben bonding with Morgan. I have a bad feeling about this. 

- Jerry’s eating cobbler! He is all of us not wanting to put his cobbler down. I rewound it several times but I didn’t catch what he said. But the five seconds the camera was on Jerry - it made my day. Smiles all around!

- More bonding. More teasing about the girl he likes. This isn’t good. 

- As soon as the count was off, I understood Richard’s play. And that sealed the deal for Ben. That sucks. And they hit Jerry! Poor Jerry...

- When is someone going to kill the longhaired guy? He needs to die. Soon. 

- On the way to meet his parents, Ben said to Morgan, “To injure an opponent is to injure oneself.” I think he said that cuz he knew that Morgan would be angry. Maybe he tried to diffuse the anger by reminding him of his words. The student became the master. May the force be with you, Ben. We’ll watch out for your little bro. 

- OMG. Morgan killed Richard with his bare hands! Flashes of his son, his wife and the killer used to be kept popping up. I didn’t see this coming. I mean, I love that he killed Richard, but I didn’t connect that Morgan would see Ben as his son. When he was at Alexandria, he was around Carl but I didn’t feel him care for Carl like a son. Anyhow, now Morgan is pissed that Ben is dead and Richard is to blame. Bye Richard. Don’t let the big ass door to hell hit you on the way out. 

- Richard got his wish. Morgan buried him next to Katy’s backpack. And we’re getting ready for war. Morgan told Carol the truth. Now she knows Glenn, Abraham, Olivia and Spencer are dead. She’s sad. She’s pissed. And now she’s ready. She leaves Morgan at the shack of personal revelation and goes to the Kingdom to help them get ready to fight. The King acknowledges that cold hard fact but, in true king fashion, says they don’t have to start getting ready right at that moment. It’s about healing from the death and trying to plant new crops. 

- I really liked this episode. It had a lot of witty one liners and also killed Richard. It also brought Badass Carol back, which I know she doesn’t fully want to be but her strength will help others. And maybe less of the survivors will die at the hands of the Saviors. Maybe it’s Carol who kills Negan. Afterall, Carol is our Wonder Woman.

TWD: Richonne Finally go on a Date

It’s about time! Sunday’s episode of The Walking Dead found our favorite leaders getting their flirt on, looking for thangs, hooking up and doing what they do best - killing walkers. 

This episode was wonderful in so many ways. After some really emotional moments, seeing Rick and Michonne flirting, kissing and laughing put a smile on my face (though that sentence makes me sound like a pervert - I promise I am not). It reminds us that the show is more than just zombies. It’s about relationships and how the living interact with each other AND the dead. 

Michonne has been such a strength to our group. An equal partner to Rick, the voice of reason, a natural protector of her loved ones and a positive role model for the group.  Michonne is our Queen Bee. From the moment we met her, she stood fierce with two walker pets and she never once backed down. Like the others, she was deeply affected by the deaths of their group but she somehow always kept it together. More than that, she was ready to fight Negan and take back their lives. 

What this episode did so beautifully was showcase the OTHER side of her. We’ve seen glimpses of her vulnerability- when she left the prison by herself and was tracking Rick and Carl and when her BFF Andrea took her own life - when she thought Rick was dead, she said so much without saying anything. 

Rick tried to address it with his speech at the end. “You’ll be okay. This isn’t about us anymore. It’s about the future. Building a future for Judith and Maggie and Glenn’s baby.” Rick worries about the future. He can’t sleep. He thinks about it all of the time when they’re not flirting, doing it or killing walkers. Art this point, if anything happens to Rick, I think knowing that Carl, Michonne, Daryl, and Maggie are there to help take care of the little ones makes it easier for him to let go. 

Overall, I loved this episode. The other part that I loved were the unique walker kills. My favorite was the soldier stuck in the car. I am not ashamed to say that I rewound that entire scene. His foot being ripped off, then his bottom half...LOL. Awesome. 

(Sidenote: As cool as those carnival walkers were, my all-time favorite walker is still the well walker from season two. He’s like a grown up chubby monster version of the Pillsbury Dough Boy).

TWD: I love Pickles and Eugene

Oh boy. After such a touchy feely episode last week, you knew they were going to change it up and give us something else this week. We got comedy, betrayal, love, grossness and a look into the genius that is Eugene. I watched the episode twice because I was on the edge on whether or not Eugene is a dick. He is not. 

Eugene is brain not muscles. His way of surviving is being the smartest guy in the room and spouting things that you don’t know about that sound smart. When he is meeting with Negan and being led around by the Savior, he looks like he’s one step away from crying. He’s tense and emotional. When he spouts off his original story (the one he told Abraham but we know that is a lie), it’s him trying to survive again. It does the trick, his backstory, PHD and tip for stretching the life cycle of the walkers on the wall earned him a spot on the leadership team. (side note: that was an awesome clip of the insides falling out of the zombie. It looked like someone puked up intestines and coke. LOL). 

Negan’s wives called him a coward. He said that was a correct assessment. All a ruse. Eugene saying he is utterly Negan is him surviving until a plan can come together. In his heart, I think he knows that Rick and team will fight the Saviors and I think he’s just waiting for a sign, which is why he made the kill pills for the wives but didn’t give it to them. He knew they were for Negan but needs to wait to use them until he somehow finds out what the survivors are going to do. The private smile on his face - was an acknowledgement that he won this small battle - and his excitement that Negan believed his lie. He lived to survive another day!

Other thoughts for this episode: 

- I can’t believe they played East Street. I feel like I just got that out of my head and then Eugene pressed play. It doesn’t seem like Easy Street would be the kind of song to break Eugene. If he were to get a song, I’m thinking something from Marilyn Manson would drive him nuts. 

- “Welcome home, haircut.” LOL

- I would demand lobster and pickles as well. Maybe pizza also. And spaghetti. And chocolate. I would never make it in the zombie apocalypse. 

- Dwight has always been an asshole to me. But I have to admit that I felt terrible for him for a hot minute in this episode. Sherry’s letter tugged at the heart strings. “I loved who you were. I’m sorry I made you into who you are.” And then the fact that he remembered the beer and pretzels....I wanted to hug him. Do you think he can become that man again? I mean, Rick has done some pretty terrible things but we still love him and think he’s a good man. Not that Dwight is a good man but maybe he’ll somehow make up for the fact that he’s a toolbag and help our survivors. 

- Maybe not. Him setting up the poor doctor without flinching makes me believe he’s going to continue to be an asshole. 

- Poor Doctor Carson. Scared to death of the hot iron, so he confesses to something he didn’t do, and ends up burning to death instead. That was harsh. 

- What happens when they really need a doctor later? Can Haircut really fake it till he makes it?

- I feel like the video game is significant somehow but I’m not familiar with it. Anyone have a thought on it? 

- Negan had a good point. Rick and team didn’t use Eugene’s talents as much as they should have. He made the bullet for Rosita and I think tried to put a radio together...but why couldn’t he come up with the metal walker thing before? Rick and team could have used it as part of their army. Sort of like the creature that the other group had last week. 

- It’s interesting how Negan rewards people. He rewarded Eugene with a “sexless” night with three of his wives. And I think he previously tried to reward Dwight with a sexy night with one of his wives except for Sherry. I wonder if the peanut gallery is allowed to fraternize on its own. Can any of the saviors hook up with each other? Or, has Negan put in a no hooking up rule? 

- This was an awkward moment. What do you say to the guy whose junk you bit?

TWD: New Best Friends

They should have just called this the Valentine’s Day episode of The Walking Dead because it had sooooo many feels. Two of our favorite couples were highlighted, Jerry had some awesome moments, Rick went into the dollar store version of the Thunderdome and Shiva fell in love with Daryl like we all did. Love is in the air people! 

I know I should start with Rick. But I can’t. Not when we finally got the moment we’ve been thinking about all season. And even before we got that emotional lovey dovey moment, we got to see Daryl find out that Carol’s still around AND that Richard wants to frame her for killing Saviors (strike one - Dick). 

When Richard started talking about the “woman in the house,” I bet most of you were screaming at the TV like me, “SAY HER NAME!” The more Richard described her and the situation, you could see all of the emotions on Daryl’s face - surprise she’s still around, happy that she’s okay, proud that Richard describes her as tougher than the both of them and then anger that Richard wants her to get the blame for the ambush. I could almost see him thinking - “OH Hell no.”

Then we got to see him kick Richard’s ass and tell him to leave her alone. My heart was fluttering. 

Then when we finally get back to Carol’s cottage, we see it’s because her new suitor has come a knocking. Or, rather, his minions tripped her wire, so she opened the door. Carol doesn’t exude warmth - she now gives the “I don’t care” persona and tough as nails perception. That attitude must be why King Ezekial likes her so much and keeps coming. She sends them away with a very tiny smile and gets cobbler from Jerry (more on Jerry later). 

Then we hear a knock. I assume it’s the King coming back to give her more fruit or to ask her a random question to spend more time with her. But no. The second she opened the door, you saw her face go from surprise to happiness with a hint of sadness. Her tears were already threatening to spill from her eyes. And when we panned to Daryl, I sucked in my breathe and gasped. I totally thought they would make us wait another episode before we got this moment. 

In this episode, Daryl proves he loves her twice. When he threatened old Richard boy and when he decided to lie to her and tell her that everyone is ok. He knew that if he told her that Glenn and Abraham were savagely beaten in front of the group, she would resort to her old ways and join the fight. In doing this, she’ll lose herself,she’ll be angry and she might even start hating him and the rest of the group. Lying to her was the right thing to do. They need her skills, yes, but they need her heart more. 

I personally think this is the nature of their life now. You to need to fight back and protect yours. From the dead and the living. There might be good people in the world but, at this point, there are more bad. I think she’ll come around. Something will give her the nudge she needs. 

Meanwhile, our other couple gets a little shook. Rick is pushed down a pile of trash and into the dollar store version of the Thunderdome. Two things enter and one thing leaves. I don’t know how that group created the scary metal head guy with spike sticking through him but if they can do more of those - that would be an awesome army against the Saviors! 

After Rick killed said scary guy and made the deal with bang girl (later introed as Jadis), he came out limping and bleeding right into the arms of his girl. I love that they showed PDA. They are strong apart but stronger together. I love them and am still kicking myself that I didn’t see this relationship coming. 

Other thoughts: 

- Jerry! He is one of my favorite characters. His smile, his laugh, his words...everything about him is awesome. I bet you even his cobbler was awesome too. Having him around helps fill a little of the hole that Abraham left in the comedic portion of the show. With Jerry though, he’s more jolly than Abraham was. I’m not sure if we’ll get the same sort of gems like Mother Dick but we’ll see. For now, I just enjoy when Jerry is on screen. He makes me smile. 

- Obviously, Shiva is all of us. Seeing Daryl bond with her supports the idea that no living creature can deny what a hottie Norman is. LOL. Unwashed, hair everywhere, muscles gleaming....swoon. 

- Father Gabriel - ok, so you’re not the ass that I thought you were. You didn’t steal all the food and run. But there is still something about you. Even though Rick now counts you as a friend - you’re still in frenemy mode with me, mister. And put a shirt on. It’s weird to see you in a tank top. 

- Rosita - Someone needs to slap her on the side of the head. I understand she’s angry. I understand she’s ready to fight but she needs to get with the program instead of making things worse. They need to be smart about things, they need to make sure that all of them are 100% before they start the war. 

- I don’t trust anyone with misguided bangs. I’m talking to you Jadis! I don’t know if this partnership is going to work out. I hope so, because we need the numbers, but those bangs tell me differently.

TWD Return: Rise up and smile

I’ve now watched the Walking Dead “The Rock in the Road” twice and am ready to spill my thoughts on the good, the bad, and the ugly. 

- Although it pains me to say it, I don’t think Father Gabriel stole their food and weapons and hightailed it out of there. He did that once and has felt guilty about it ever since. Instead, I think he went to go hide it from the Saviors. Why did he do it at night while he was on watch? I think he’s trying to do it in secret. But when you’re on watch - you freaking watch. UGH. What if they were attacked? No one’s there to sound the alarm. Even when he’s trying to do good, he still finds ways to annoy. 

- During the break, I sort of forgot what an ass Gregory was. But the gang’s meeting with him - the second he opened his dumb mouth - I remembered. 

- Oh snap! He called them Margaret and Ricky. Someone punch him in the face! Preferably, Daryl so that we can see his muscles. 

- Gregory was a bust but Enid did her thang and recruited a few Hilltop folks who know they owe Maggie and Sasha for saving their lives. They’re ready to fight! 

- The look that Carl and Enid exchange leads me to believe that love is still alive in their little teen hearts.

- Jesus’ hair is long and flowy, I want to run my fingers through it.

- MORGAN! A mini-family reunion in the Kingdom. YAY. 

- Why does everyone forget to mention that the King has a tiger pet? It’s not normal to have a tiger pet. Ever. Real life, fake life, zombie life. That should be the first thing out of their mouths…

- Rosita just listed everyone the Saviors killed. The look on Morgan’s face mirrored everybody else’s face - sadness and anger. But prob more sadness than anger. 

- King Ezekiel asks Morgan what he thinks. (me shouting at the screen - MAN UP MORGAN! BE ANGRY THAT YOUR FRIENDS ARE DEAD! DO THE RIGHT THING AND TELL HIM TO JOIN FORCES WITH ALEXANDRIA!!!!) Of course, Morgan says what we don’t want him to say. 

- Carol! (Me shouting at the screen again) - your boyfriend is at the Kingdom!! He’s so close - go get him! (Caryl forever!) Sadly, her run in with Benjamin only serves the purpose to get her on our screen, convey the message that the King likes Carol and will continue to check up on her and that Benjamin will probably not live past this season. His “there are so few of us so we should share things” thought is good in theory but not when you’re living in a “dog eat dog” world. 

- “We both had sex with the same dead guy. That don’t make us friends.” - Rosita

- We just got the team back together!!! Rick wants Daryl to stay. Daryl doesn’t want to hide. Rick basically tell Daryl to use his strengths and “stare him into submission or whatever it takes.” yes, I’ll have one of those please. 

- DYNOMITE. literally. I’m not sure how wise it is to steal live explosives but their lives are on the line. Everyone steals some and starts loading up the car. Rosita redeemed herself a bit from the whole "shooting at Neegan and missing" thing when she declared there was one she didn’t like and she put it back. 

- Now THAT’S how you kill walkers!

- Simon and Gregory are both competing for the award for biggest deucebag. Simon’s destruction of everything is making him a great contender.  

- Aaron and his boyfriend are having words. We’ve seen his boyfriend before but from the little that I can recall, he doesn’t say much. So the fact that they are focusing on this relationship means one of them won’t make it through to next season. I’m not in love with Aaron but I think he has heart. And we’re losing people with heart (I love you Glenn), so I’m hoping it’s the boyfriend. 

- The group is using their tracking skills. The come to the boat where they think Father Gabriel went. Suddenly, there are people and guns. Lots of angry looking people and guns. 

- Rick smiles and it’s creepy as F*%K. 

- I don’t know who they are and I don’t know why he’s smiling. What I DO know is that this is gearing up to be one HELL of a showdown. RISE UP KIDS! RISE UP!

TWD: The Underdogs

My Facebook and Tumblr feeds are jam packed with The Walking Dead memes and images. There’s a lot of Daryl, Rick, Glenn and Maggie, Michonne and Negan. Once in a while Carl, Carol, Abraham, Jesus and Rosita are featured. But almost never do I see some of the underdogs. So, while we’re still waiting for Feb 12 to get here, I thought I’d share images of our underdogs in action. 

EUGENE: The dumbest smart man on earth

When we met him a few seasons ago, he was an odd scientist with a fantastic mullet who was being led to D.C. by Rosita and Eugene to help fix the world. He said he knew how what caused the epidemic and how to reverse it. He stuck to his story until he ran into our group of survivors and realized he wanted to stay with them. So he sabotaged the bus, almost gets them killed, and gets knocked out by Abraham when he finally tells the truth. 

Eugene is eccentric and styling with his throwback hairdo. He protected himself in the apocalypse the only way he knew how - by using his brain. When the truth came out, he realized he needed to learn how to protect himself and slowly but surely he learned and his confidence started growing. He is a survivor. This underdog made a surprisingly brave move when Dwight had him, Daryl and Rosita captive. (For some reason, when I replay this scene, I always hear the words - Sic balls, Chopper. I believe that’s a line from Stand by Me. Am I right?)

FATHER GABRIEL: The creepiest elf on earth

I’m not shy about my feelings for Father Gabriel. He’s annoying - probably the most annoying person in the group right now - and I’m not sure he adds any value to the survivors. He claims to be a man of religion but when his flock came to the church for sanctuary when the epidemic spread, he cowered behind closed doors and let them all die. Maybe I haven’t gotten over that and just can’t see him as a man of faith. Even though he stays in the church, even though he has tried to make amends, even though he is on Rick’s side and has tried to guide Rick, Rosita and others who seek help. Apparently, I hold a grudge. 

This underdog stepped up earlier this season. His quick thinking of digging a grave and telling Negan Maggie passed may have saved Maggie, Rick and the baby! So though I detest him, I will give him props for his quick thinking and action. If we see more of that, maybe I’ll have a better taste in my mouth for him. His first exchange with Negan will always make me giggle.  

BETH: The sweetest babysitter and designated singer 

When we were introduced to Beth at Hershel’s farm, the jury was out on her. I immediately liked Maggie but didn’t really warm to Beth. I’m not sure why. But once we got to the prison, we saw more of her personality. She tried helping - she carried a gun when she needed to, babysat when she needed to, and was uber polite to everyone. And she sang! Don’t get me started about the singing. 

Why is she an underdog you ask? I guess when you’re standing next to Andrea, Lori, Carol and Maggie, you automatically look like an underdog. (Though Carol’s Wonder Woman transformation didn’t happen until after the farm and after she realized she lost Sophia. Then she became a force to be reckon with.)

My favorite Beth stepping up scene was the time she spent with Daryl after the prison. She got to know him and she got to know herself. She became stronger.  

OK. I sort of miss the singing.

The People’s Choice: TWD

Cheers to The Walking Dead for winning The People’s Choice Award for Favorite Cable Sci-Fi Fantasy TV Show. In honor of this win, I’m blogging out some of my favorite moments from the show. 

Rick + Daryl = Bros before hoes and walkers (season 7)

This scene made this season almost not that terrible. Our survivors were scattered, Daryl was tortured, two of our boys died....it was a lot to take in. But this hug made it all worth it and renewed our faith that we’re not done. We’re going to get strong and KILL NEGAN. 

Glenn + Maggie = I’ll find you in this lifetime and next (season 4)

Love. Once you find it, you don’t want to let go, especially in the zombie apocalypse. So, after the prison fight, Glenn used the force or sheer will that gave him faith that Maggie was alive. He blindly kept going...until he saw her sign for Terminus. He and Tara ran faster and tried harder and the rest is history. 

Sasha + Tyreese: We are family! I got my sister and me! (season 5)

Another touching scene after the prison went up in flames was when our favorite sibling team - Sasha and Tyreese - reunited. 

Rick + Michonne = Hugging with their mouths and it’s super hot! (season 6)

In my mind, they were partners - besties - but once they became besties with benefits - I saw the light! Of Course this works. They were meant to be - I guess i was more focused on willing Daryl and Carol. When we going to get that, Greg?!

Hershel + Beth + Maggie = Family love (season 2)

When I think of Hershel, I think of a strong, faithful man who always gives his girls hugs. When they were at the farm - it was farther and few in between - but after the farm when Maggie went on runs or Beth took care of Judith, you could tell see that he was the proud papa. He became the proud papa of the survival group and it broke my heart when he was murdered by the one-eyed Tyrant. 

Rick + Carl + Lori = The one that started it all (season 1)

He woke up and was thrust into a weird unknown world. He believed everyone he loved was dead. This moment here was when we discovered TWD is more than just a zombie show. It’s one with heart that touches on family, humanity, love, lust, lost, ethics and everything else in between.

Law & Order SVU: The breakup no one cried about

Last night’s Law & Order SVU was an interesting one and I’m going to skip the case of the week hubbub and go straight to the juicy part. 

For a few episodes now, we’ve seen our gal Benson struggle with life - the sadness and guilt of seeing someone in her squad get killed, the chaos of having to juggle the job and taking care of little Noah, and shooting a retired officer who became obsessed with a rape victim he saved previously (last week). But now we realize that it was more than that. She’s struggling with a life with Tucker. 

For the record, I like Olivia and I want her to be happy in a relationship. I just wish that relationship was with someone beautiful and charming and smart. Like Rafael Barba. (BARSON FOREVER!)

But I digress. Last night, we see Olivia avoiding Ed’s calls and being guarded and vague when he stalked her in the office. He assumes it’s because she killed a copy last week and that she’s stressed out about the kidnapping case, which struck a cord with her AND Rollins. She sort of admits that he’s right but, by the end of the show, she tells him that they’re in different stages in life. He’s ready to retire and live a more peaceful and fun life. She, in my opinion, is just getting started. She’s been a detective for a really long time and now as a Sergeant, she’s kicking ass with her detectives and helping people who really need it. She wants to continue helping people and, most likely, become a captain. She had a great mentor in Cragen and it’s time for her to mentor others. Her job as well as little Noah is all she has time for right now. 

Honestly, I just never warmed to the idea of those two together. My sister who is a diehard fan berates me for cheering for the breakup. But I’ve been a huge SVU fan for years and can tell you that I’ve seen ALLLLLLL of the episodes. Multiple times. For someone who will re-watch old episodes, it’s hard to see Tucker in a light other than the asshole from IAB or the dickhead who has tried to bust some of our favorite officers - Stabler, Amaro, Rollins - even Benson herself. I guess I just can’t flip that switch. 

But now that that relationship is donzo, I’m hoping Dick Wolf will do us a solid and have Olivia spend more time with Rafael. Some of my favorite scenes are when they are together - fighting and collaborating. Barba, being the gentleman he is, will not make a move on her. They’ll just start getting closer.....

Feeling the Feels in 2016

It’s that time of year again - everything is in re-runs and TWD is on hiatus. So, with this end of year break, I wanted to share a few TV things that made me feel the feels this year. 

Hold the door. People often say that you don’t know what you have until it’s gone. In this case, I didn’t realize how much I loved Hodor. I liked seeing his smiles and his giant body carrying little and then not so little Bran around. His one word communication style somehow changed from annoying to comforting. This year, however, we learned what Hodor is saying and where it stemmed from. This moment from Game of Thrones simultaneously broke my heart and instilled a heated hatred for Bran. (Blasphemy - I know. I’m a huge Stark supporter. But damn it, Bran. You messed up!)

He got dogged. I don’t have a high tolerance for buttholes. I hate them in fact. Negan, of course, is one of them. Cute to look at but he tore out our hearts when he slaughtered Glenn and Abraham. I can’t wait to see him die. But since we’ve got to wait until next year for that...I’m going to share how excited I was to see Ramsay Bolton die. By his own dog! LIke Negan, he loved toying with people - he repeatedly abused and raped Sansa, killed his own father, murdered his day old baby brother and step mother, toyed with Jon Snow and killed the youngest Stark brother (albeit he was not the smartest boy - why did he not ZIGZAG?! - but he was so close to reuniting with his family). I cheered loudly when Ramsay died. Revenge felt pretty sweet in that moment. 

Eye Love You. I talked about this at length in another blog post, so I’m not going to hash it out again. But I was crushed when Negan killed Glenn. I gasped, I screamed and then cried when Glenn used his last breath to tell Maggie that he’ll find her. Again. Sobbed like a baby. I don’t read the comics but I hope their baby makes it so their love can continue on. 

Get it girl. I do a lot of shippin when I watch TV. Daryl and Carol, Rick and Michonne, Daenerys Targaryen and Jorah Mormont and Detective Benson and ADA Barba, Those are the top of my couples board. But one couple that I totally ship finally solidified their relationship and moved in together. Seeing her finally admit that she loved him was awesome. Detective Lindsey and Detective Halstead with Chicago PD - welcome to coupledom. I’m so excited to see where your live-in situation takes you! Swoooooooon.

TWD: Either your heart’s beating or it isn’t

And if you weren’t crying or feeling the feels by the end of the episode, your heart isn’t beating. You are a cold hearted person with no soul - sort of like Negan. 

This fall finale was super-sized and it was intense. I don’t even know if I can wrap my mind around all that happened, so here are a few thoughts that randomly popped up as I watched.  

1. Maggie is like Negan but in a more pure way. She doesn’t demand things, she’s respected so she just gets it. That apple is hers Gregory. 

2. I kept hoping that Carl would jump up from the tub and stick the knife in Negan’s throat. Death by shaving. (p.s. why did he shave? Even though he was an asshole, he was a hot asshole). 

3. It’s spaghetti Saturday! That’s my favorite day. I literally inhale spaghetti and wine. 

 4. The dinner table is awkward. I bet Olivia is secretly thinking about how things might be less awkward if she had taken Negan’s offer to sleep with him. 

5. Spencer is getting his flirt on while he is covered in blood and Eugene is watching. Again. He’ll take it where he can get it - he doesn’t care. Sexy time, flirty time - he’ll watch it all. 

6. The like/hate relationship between Carol and Morgan is cute. (But I’m not shipping that. I’m still Carol/Daryl all the way!)

7. Swimming walkers, bobbing walkers, walkers everywhere in the water. I can only image how wrinkly their skin is. I’m in the shower for 10 minutes and I come out looking like Betty White. 

8. This isn’t the time for a snack, Daryl. Someone can walk in any minute. 

9. Oh Aaron. You are such a sweetheart. I like you. I hope you are around longer. And maybe we’ll get to know your boyfriend a little bit more. 

10. Michonne an carry herself better than Carl but will this red-haired chick take her to the compound and then she’s going to try to shoot her way out? 

11. My mother always told me that lying is bad. Even when you do it to help someone or protect them. It becomes a negative thing and you’re left with bad juju. In this case, why did Sasha lie about Jesus? She could have just said he left the day before. She didn’t say where he was...so why did it matter? 

12. The face Carol gave Richard after his speech about rising up against the Saviors and making the mistake of assuming she is new to fighting. 

13. I still don’t trust you Father Gabriel. I don’t want to agree with Negan but you really ARE creepy as shit. 

14. Carol doesn’t want anymore visitors. She’s the only one in the zombie apocalypse that wants to be alone. 

15. Whatever you’re going to do Spencer. Don’t. It’s going to end badly for you because you’re a brat. 

16. Poor Fat Joey. He just wanted to eat his snack. 

17. Daddy’s home and he’s upset that Negan’s at his house. 

18. Aaron! Why the EFF would you bring the note with you?! 

19. OMG Spencer. Negan likes badasses (like Carl’s rambo move). Not backstabbers You spineless, traitor, you deserve to be...OMG. Bloody guts everywhere! I’m not eating sausage anytime soon. 

20. Why did they only make ONE bullet? If he could make one, why didn’t they make a whole bunch?! And how could she miss? Why didn’t she just step closer to him? 

21. Olivia! I didn’t see that coming. 

22. “I brought him safe and sound and fed him spaghetti.” LOL

23. Oh boy. Eugene is not going to take Easy Street well. He’s going to crumble. He has already just pissed himself - look at his face. 

24. Rick and Michonne hugging and committing to fighting together. We basically just witnessed their wedding vows. I love them.

 By far, the best part of this episode is when they family reunited. Did you see that Michonne and Rick were holding hands when the gate opened? The embrace between Rick and Maggie got me emotional. But when Daryl stepped out of the house, I lost it. The look on their faces, the way Rick and Daryl (brothers from another mother) communicate without saying a word and the massive but intimate bear hug....it was wonderful. It made all of the other nonsense worth it. 

Then Maggie and Michonne, Daryl and Tara, Sasha and MIchonne all had wonderful moments. Then our tween couple Enid and Carl exchanged cutesy lovey dovey glances - even frenemies Sasha and Rosita shared a moment. And Jesus watched over all of them. I love that symbolism. 

It’s been a slow road to get here but now some of our strongest heroes are together again. We’re missing two - Glenn and Abraham - and they’re presence will be felt throughout the rest of the series but we’re moving on and fightin. Not just for the family but for other communities too. 

It looks like next season all of the slower parts of this season will pay off. We’ll get war and we’ll win. NO DOUBT.

Negan is that hot boy in class...

He’s hot. He’s charming. He’s charismatic. And when he smiles, everyone in the room sort of swoons, including the teacher. 

But he lives by his own rules, comes and goes when he pleases and enlists the others to do what he wants. All because he can. 

When he speaks to you and compliments the shirt you’re wearing, you never really know if he means it or if he’s just saying it so that you will do his homework. I admit, I fell for a few charmers in my day and helped them with their homework. And by helped, I mean I did their homework for them. Freakin sweet talkers. 

On Sunday’s episode, Negan toyed with Carl. He explained the system and gave him the tour. He called Carl a badass, scolded him when Carl displayed a little nervousness and questioned if he was going to kill him. The most surprising part is that when Carl started to cry when Negan was breaking his balls about his bloody hole of an eye, Negan softened a bit. He said he sometimes forgets that the man with big brass balls in front of him (who killed two of his men) is really just a kid. 

Now, was he being genuine or was he being manipulative? I can’t tell. Part of me, wants to believe that he’s not all psycho. That there is some sort of humanity in him. But the other side of me thinks he is a complete psycho. He ordered the Saviors to kill anyone over 10 at the all-girl camp, he took the wife of one of his top guys, he decided he didn’t want just one wife and created his own personal brothel in which girls in the zombie apocalypse are wearing tiny black dresses like they’re going clubbing. 

But then we got to see two things. One of the best things ever - his interaction with Olivia. From making her cry to making a pass at her - it was awesome. 

I totally ship them now. They aren’t at the top of the list - Daryl and Carol have that honor - but Olivia and Negan just beat out Carl and Enid. After the slap and he said he was 50% more into it, you KNOW that she thought about it. Ten bucks says she’s thinking about it heavily while she’s making the lemonade. Wondering about what it would be like to be with the homecoming king. 

The other surprise was when Negan met Judith. His smile seemed genuine and the way he was careful with her when he picked her up and cuddled her on the porch...I know he instantly thought about how this is the best way to hurt Rick but I think the other part was that it warmed his icy little heart. 

The episode ended with Negan on the porch with Judith and Carl. He likes them both and knows this is how he’s going to control and hurt Rick. He’s going to use them as pawns, manipulate them and manipulate Rick. I just pray that he doesn’t hurt either of them. That would be terrible. 

Other tidbits:

- Our girls were on fire. Michonne trapped a savior and is on her way to Negan and Rosita got a bullet. I fully believe Negan will be brought down by one of our ladies. They’re out for blood. 

- Spencer is a deuce. 

- I still don’t trust Father Gabriel. He really does have a freaky ass smile. 

-  Daryl is going to escape! I wonder if he’ll hum Easy Street on the way out. 

- The iron....the dude’s skin was stuck to the iron. It was sizzling and pulled away from his face like hot cheese on a pizza. I leave you with this image.

TWD: Who run the world? Girls!

Before I go into my thoughts about Sunday’s episode of The Walking Dead, I want to chat about the show in general. Word has it that ratings for the show have steadily declined after the premiere. Fans threatened to jump ship when they found out who Negan killed and it seems some were true to their word after seeing the brutal murder of Glenn and Abraham. Others have taken to social media and their blogs to complain about the series. 

Let me put this in to perspective: this is a show about zombies. Zombies that eat your body like it’s a Thanksgiving turkey. There is going to be violence, blood, guts and gore everywhere. And if you don’t like the violence or gore, DON’T watch a show called The Walking Dead. 

Our group is one of just many groups trying to survive - trying to build a life in this new assholish world where they have to worry about the dead AND the living. There are a lot of good survivors out there that want to help mankind like Hershel and King Ezekiel and then there are really terrible people like the Govenor and Negan. No one is safe in this show. Everyone will lose a limb at one point, will be terribly hurt or die. Even Rick will die. That’s just the nature of the show.  (Although I admit that Daryl is my favorite character. If he dies, I will be upset but not enough to stop watching because the revenge killing for his death will be EPIC). 

I’m a fan through and through. I have been since Day 1 when our hero woke up in the hospital bed. But...I can understand why fans are frustrated. I was frustrated last night. The premiere set the stage for a stressful season, then we have shifted from place to place - King Ezekiel, the Saviors neighborhood, then we saw the Saviors come to Alexnadria and then we hung out at the Hilltop community, which left us with a cliffhanger of one-eyed Carl and everyone’s newest crush Jesus hitching a secret ride in Negan’s truck. What happened?! I was so excited for last night but then we got a huge helping of Tara. Not that I don’t like Tara, I do, but we didn’t need to introduce a new focus. We already had three different pieces of the story that we’re trying to put together...I can only assume this was another key piece of the story. I didn’t love it but I get it. 

What I did love was that this episode continued the strong female theme. Tara has transformed before our eyes, much like I assume Enid will. Tara was sheltered - shut in an apartment with her father, sister and niece - the Govenor brought them out and then she lost everyone. She volunteered to fight the prison, watched the horror unfold and then hooked up with Glenn. That’s when she started to blossom. She helped Glenn find Maggie, she learned to kill the walkers, she increased her skill with the guns, she protected the wall at Alexandria and then helped kill some Saviors at the outpost. Now, she’s sneaking around like a ninja, punching someone in the face with their own gun and making jokes about working on a fishing boat. She’s smart, strong and can hold her own. 

Much like the community she just happened upon. Where are all the dudes? Dead. Negan killed every man and boy above 10 years old. WTF. What an evil asshole. Apparently, Negan wasn’t joking when he talked about having it all. His reach is wide and that’s scary as hell. Scary enough for these ladies to pick up from where they were with just the clothes on their backs to run away from him. I’m going to enjoy it when someone kills Negan. At this point, I don’t care who it is. I just want him dead and I want him to suffer. Just like Ramsay....

Tara got back to Alexiandria, sporting new sunglasses, on her own.  I totally forgot that she didn’t know about Dr. Denise. That was heartbreaking but kudos to Tara for keeping her promise and not spilling the beans about the she village. Rosita is too angry about things (rightfully so) so she would have straight out gone to the village and tried to steal all their guns. Hopefully, Tara tells Rick about the she village and he can come up with a plan that unites she village with the Hilltop and the Kingdom for a large army to kill the Saviors.

TWD: Go Getters Gettin’ It Done

“This is our home now, so you’ll have to call me by name. Not Marsha. Not dear. Not honey. Maggie. Maggie Rhee.”

Maggie Freaking Rhee!!

At that very moment, I realized that she’s not a victim. She watched as her husband’s head was bashed in. Her father was beheaded in front of her. Her sister was murdered and she watched Daryl carry her lifeless body out from the hospital. She’s sad, she’s emotional but she refuses to be broken. In Sunday’s episode, she showcased her strength, even when she’s weak and recovering from pain. She drove a tractor into walkers and crushed a car. 

My favorite, though, is when she punched Gregory. He had it coming - the little coward. That’s for stealing Glenn’s/Hershel’s watch and for trying to hand the gals over to the Saviors. 

So far, these last few episodes have reminded us that we’ve got some badass bitches in our group and it looks like it’s going to be up to them to help bring the family back together. The ladies can hold their own - they’ve fought continuously along side of Rick, Daryl, Abraham and Glenn - but I think this season is nicely spotlighting how strong they really are. 

Our guys are broken. We just lost two of our strongest - Daryl is being tortured  and Rick...he’s not seeing Lori just yet but that might not be too far away. He’s really down the rabbit hole and I don’t know if we can get him out of it. 

Let’s break it down: 

Maggie - or the next leader of the Hilltop as Jesus suggests - stepped up last night. Sasha did as well by safely bringing her to the Hilltop but also asking Jesus to find the location of the Saviors. I think a revenge plan is slowly coming together in her head...hopefully, it involves cutting Negan’s bitchnuts. 

In the last episode, Rosita was confronted by Dwight and Negan and though she did what was told, the hard look on her face could rival Michael Phelps mean face at the Olympics. 

Then Rosita attacked/killed walkers just to get their guns. Now she’s got a gun that only Spencer knows about and she’s banking on the fact that Eugene aka “the smartest man on the planet” can make her a bullet. What is she going to do with said bullet? Kill. Get it girl. 

Michonne has always been fierce. And though I made fun of her sniper shooting that didn’t go well for her last week, the fact that she wants to turn her weakness into a strength speaks volumes. She doesn’t want this life and even though she told Rick she would try...something is brewing in her head. She’s going to practice harder and get better so when the time comes - she’s ready. 

One of our original badass girls hasn’t been doing a lot except for flirting a little with the King. I miss her. But she is a survivor. Always has been. Always will be. 

Carol has all sorts of power inside her - as evident when she singlehandedly saved the group in Terminus - but she’s struggling with the idea of killing people for those she loves. I don’t think there’s an issue of killing walkers - just people - though I wonder if her perception would change when she finds out about Glenn and Abraham and the position the group is in now.

On the flip side, it’s important to note that Enid also displayed a little power in this episode. She finally gave in and told Carl she cared for him and they had their first date. Rollerskating!!! She’s still trying to find her way and discover her power but now that she’s with Maggie and Sasha - she’s got two really great mentors who will show her how it’s done. 

The power of women, the power of love and the power of family that binds them together - this is how we’re going to defeat Negan. It might not be next week or the week after that. But we’ll do it and I have no doubt that our ladies will play a big role in his takedown.

TWD: When Negan comes knocking

The emotions that The Walking Dead puts you through is inane. You cry. You scream. You’re scared Negan is going to kill Daryl. Sometimes, after watching an episode I need a shot and a hug. This is one of those times. 

Negan: I’m trying really hard to hate him but damn it - I find him charming. That smile can melt any icy heart and his charisma would make anyone forget that he’s a psycho (a funny one at that). His best line last night - “I’m not taking any of the food but I can’t be the only one to notice that you got a fat lady in charge of keeping track of the rations.”

Negan also nailed his assessment of Father Gabriel after seeing him for a second. He said what the audience has wanted to say to Father Gabriel for several seasons now. “You are creepy as shit. Sneaking up on me wearing that collar and that freaky ass smile.”  Yes! He IS creepy and though he did the group a solid yesterday, I still don’t trust him. 

Michonne: Oh honey. You’re a terrible sniper. I know you’re practicing but damn. Let’s stick to our strengths. 

Daryl: My poor boy was back in Alexandria but this wasn’t the happy reunion we were all hoping for. Negan paraded him through the town as a “worker” who couldn’t be talked to or even looked at. Rick tried to save his bro at the end and asked Negan to let him stay. Negan, being the jolly unhinged psycho he is, said no but then offered to change his mind if Daryl pleaded his case. You know our boy better than that - he wasn’t going to plead. He’s in such a dark place right now - he blames himself for Glenn’s death and now Maggie. I couldn’t tell if he knew if they were faking her death or not. If he didn’t pick up on it, then he will blame himself for her death as well. 

Dwight: Whatever small sliver of sympathy I had for D3 (Dick Deucebag Dwight) or the Daryl Wannabe was completely destroyed. He’s a dick and he likes being a dick. (Speaking of dick, Negan’s graphic goodbye to Rick was surprising. It shouldn’t be but it was.)

Rick: Rick is still so emotionally drained. I’m not sure how much more our hero can take. He looks like shit and I have no doubt that he feels like it too. He dropped a bombshell last night - I think we all sort of knew but never said out loud. When he was trying to tell Michonne that this was their life now - trying to survive and not fight - he stripped off everything and became the most vulnerable he has ever been. He told her the truth. He is not Judith’s father but he loves her like his own. Shane (SHANNNNNNE!) was the father and he ain’t even mad about it. He wants to live a long life to protect little Judith and teach her how to protect herself. Just as he did with Carl. Just like Daryl last week, I’m yearning to give Rick a big ass bear hug. 

Speaking of Carl, way to be an ass. He watch as Abraham’s and Glenn’s heads were smashed into pieces but he still wants to threaten Negan’s men. Negan points out that he has a set of big balls but they’re stupid ones. If you’re going to survive, you need to be smart about it and that just wasn’t smart. He’s going to get himself or others killed. That’s for sure. 

Other thoughts: 

- Father Gabriel’s little “I believe in you” speech is like nails on a chalkboard. And his odd attempt at showing their progress - “We are friends now but it wasn’t always that way.” Understatement of the year. I don’t even know if we can call them friends now. 

- Spencer - I forgot he was even in the show. I thought he died last season. Oh well, I wonder what his role will be in all of this. I was just glad he didn’t snitch on Rosita. 

- Rosita’s a force to be reckon with. The way she killed those walkers for a gun - never doubt a woman’s broken heart. She’s preparing to avenge Abraham! Hopefully, Eugene can make her some bullets. 

- Burning the mattresses because you don’t need them but don’t want Alexandria to have them is also a dick move. I can’t wait for the Saviors to go down!
