The Princess Diaries: Mia Thermopolis [INFP]
OFFICIAL TYPING by Charity / The Mod
Functional Order: Fi-Ne-Si-Te
Judging Functional Axis:
Introverted Feeling (Fi) / Extroverted Thinking (Te)
Mia admits that “If I stopped thinking about myself,” she could do some good in the world. It’s a process of overcoming her own feelings about her dad, her mom lying to her, her grandmother “ignoring me for fifteen years,” and her fear of becoming a process, to find her calling. She’s out of sync with the emotions around her and wrapped up in her thoughts. She tends to be absorbed in her own mental world, unaware of whether her behavior is appropriate to the situation or not – and becomes nervous and flustered when she must talk to the press, so she rambles everything that comes into her head (inferior Te).
Perceiving Functional Axis:
Extroverted Intuition (Ne) / Introverted Sensing (Si)
She’s a bit of a dreamer, always imagining a different way her world could be (that it’s her and not Lana kissing the cute senior), but also kind of stuck in her ways. Mia has a little fear going into situations in which she has no experience; she doesn’t want to move away from home, leave her school, or face the very real threat of ruling a country one day. But, she can change her mind on a dime – after deciding not to accept her destiny, she finds a letter from her dad that changes her mind. She comes to accept and love her grandmother after a few weeks of “princess lessons.” She forgives her mom, and her best friend for “being a jerk.” She’s considerably better at sports that don’t involve being aware of where the ball is at all times.
Hogwarts House: Hufflepuff
House Traits: hard work, patience, loyalty, and fair play.
Mia is shy and reserved, but also warm and kind. She hates being invisible, but also does not love undue attention from the press or anyone else. She opens up more once she finds her purpose as a princess, but retains her spunk, creativity, and sense of humor. She’s very good at getting her grandmother to try new things and have “some fun.”
Enneagram Core: 9w8
Tritype: 9w8 2w3 6w7
Mia hates anything that disrupts her calm – she loathes speech class because it makes her anxious. She wants to avoid talking to the press. She doesn’t like it when others are upset with her, and tries to maintain the calm. Mia has a calm, quiet, unassuming presence at school, but she also has a steely under-edge. When Lily oversteps her boundaries and will not shut up about her hair and “selling out,” Mia tells her off! She asserts herself with her mother and her grandmother, telling them she doesn’t appreciate being lied to or ignored for fifteen years. Much of her quest is to find love – she likes it when people are drawn to her, because of her new appearance, and tries to respond to them in awkward but sweet ways. Mia is family-oriented, and cautious of the unknown – she does not want to change up her life that much, but also has a playful, likable outer energy and sends mixed signals to the men in her life.
Fun fact: in the books, Mia takes an MBTI test and is indeed typed as INFP.
hash browns will be served at my wedding
The most INFP thing I have ever said out loud:
“I just want to throw a party where I can just… apologize to all my friends for everything I’ve ever done unintentionally to them.”

This is not to say people with a different dominant function don’t have the qualities written for other functions, these are just some qualities I have found consistently in people with those functions. (: There is also so much more to a function than just these words, and each word is manifested differently in different stacks. Feel free to share your opinion without hate!
Nine: Wow, I thought this would be easy peasy lemon squeezy, but it’s just difficult difficult lemon difficult.
Crush: *Talks to someone*
Me: I lost them. They’re clearly in love with that person. How did this happen?
