Hey Enneagram World

I’d appreciate some help typing myself. I relate a lot to 9 and I think that’s my number, but I relate to so many others as well. I’ve taken the test many times and my results have included: 2, 4, 5, 6, 9 and my therapist thought I could be a 1. Is it a 9 thing to relate to so many different types? Also I’m an INFP lol. This picture is extremely aggravating. Intuitive bias NEEDS to stop. The idea that Intuitives are the only ones who are authentic, artistic, and intelligent is just simply false. To prove my point, here are some incredible Sensors that I know:

My mom (ESFJ): Bachelor’s degree in music education. Master’s degree in elementary education (to later become a teacher). Sings like an angel. Great eye for decorating and fashion. Doesn’t care what people think and doesn’t let others influence her decisions. Biggest influence in my life on not caring what people think. Knows English and grammatical technicalities like nobody’s business.

My Dad (ISTJ): Bachelor’s degree in Voice and Opera & in Radio and Television. Master’s degree in Theology. Doctorate in Leadership. Phenomenal singing voice (SO much volume and it doesn’t sound like he’s just yelling). One of the smartest people I know. Has taught me so much about writing AND math. M o r a l s !!

My brother (ISTP): Incredible drummer/musician. Can play any instrument he picks up like he’s been playing it for a long time. One of those people who is just naturally good at everything. Ask him about politics because he knows his Stuff. I have never met a more authentic person than him.

Reblog and brag on the amazing Sensors in your life! Let’s destroy the stereotypes that Sensors are inferior!

(P.S. This is not to put down intuitives, this is simply to prove that all types are equal.)

First of all, intelligent has two Ls. Ironic. Second, I’m an intuitive. It looks like we’re both basing our opinions on experience, which is actually a reliable thing. Can you please tell me what your point is?

@genaugolden As an ISTP who presented at an International Education Conference at age 14 and completed an Associate of Science with an emphasis in engineering a year later and I would like to like to disagree with your statement on ISTP’s lacking intellectual knowledge.

Additionally, categorizing an entire subsection of the human population based on a singular personality test created in 1943 as inherently intellectually lacking says a lot about your own personality. I’d rather not fan this flame any higher than necessary so feel free to draw your own conclusions on that point.

As an ENTP I can say this without hesitating, that the intuitive bias is complete horse shit. Some of the smartest people I’ve known have been sensors. As well as a good number of intelligent fictional characters.

There have been great artists, musicians, detectives, generals, scientists, statesmen, writers, actors, that have been sensors because the functions have nothing to do with intelligence.

My best man at my wedding is an ISFJ, multiple degrees, a teacher, coach, published author on subjects ranging from history to philosophy to science fiction to religion.

My older brother ESTJ, again multiple degrees, has quickly raised in the political ranks as he has pushed for increased school funding and support. Can just as easily survive in the political arena as he can if dumped in the woods (he’s an accomplished outdoorsman as well), can (and often will) lecture on history, space exploration, philosophy, wildlife.

My ESTP buddy who is so talented at music, computer programming and graphic design that he literally quits jobs because he gets bored and they come running back to him offering raises. I’ve seen it first hand multiple times.

Anyone who thinks MBTI is in anyway connected to intelligence and ability has missed the point entirely.

I don’t understand how some intuitives need to feel special so badly that they disrespect other people. Sensors are awesome and intelligent. Wtf.

Because deep down they know they aren’t any more special than anyone. They probably haven’t personally achieved anything. Humans are contrary and need to feel So Different but also need to feel accepted. Crappy MBTI sites that know as much about MBTI as my infant niece probably does only feed their egos by patting them on the back and making them think they’re so awesome they don’t need to grow and improve, which is what a GOOD MBTI resource should do.

Also yes, please please make that a new meme.

New thought: Not only does this post put down sensors, but it puts down intuitives that aren’t ENTJs or INTJs. So so ridiculous. The fact that some people genuinely think they are better than others blows my mind.

I would say that both Se and Si are detail-oriented, but they reveal that in different ways.

Si (standing for introverted sensing) is a more intrinsic function. They reveal their attention to detail by remember little things about their loved ones or even just small, seemingly insignificant things about everything (people, places, situations). They enjoy nostalgia and reminiscing, and like security/knowing what to expect.

Se (standing for extroverted sensing) is a more extrinsic function. They reveal this detail-oriented-ness by noticing small things in the moment and in their surroundings. They enjoy stimulating activities and usually enjoy the unexpected/spontaneity. They are commonly thrill seekers due to their need for physical stimulation.

If they could be summed up in two words they would be-Si: Inward, remembering Se: Outward, experiencing

If you think that some types are better than others or some functions are better than others, if you’re using MBTI as a justification for this kind of thinking instead of a way to be self-aware of bias and working to be better, you are doing MBTI wrong.
