My name is Rain, I go by they/them pronouns, and I consider myself an agender lesbian. I'm fluent in Dutch, near-fluent in English, and I can hold conversations in a couple of other languages. I'm ethnically Jewish but not really religious. I've been diagnosed with autism and ADHD, among other things.
On this blog, I'll post mainly stuff related to fandoms I'd rather not have on my main, like Sonic the Hedgehog, Bluey, and Kirby. I might also post my cat Koda. I won't post NSFW or anything gory or too violent here. This blog is also not a place for politics or fandom discourse, as I'd like to keep this a positive space. I try my best to tag common triggers.
I post art sometimes, even if it's not very good. I do a lot of symmetrical stuff and I do reuse my own lines. I'm both physically and visually disabled. 3D shapes and perspective are hard for me to grasp, and moving my hands the way I want them to is tricky, so I've kinda hit my skill ceiling.
I don't have a specific DNI, mostly because I just don't wanna bother with that stuff, and I'm not about to scroll through someone's whole blog when they interact with me. If I don't like someone or the stuff they post about, I just block 'em and move on.

Anyways, here's my ponysona Snugglebug! They're a mule who became an alicorn. They used to be a unicorn mule before they ascended to alicornhood, but their horn didn't work in those days so they had no magic.
Age: discovered at five years old, currently eighteen
Aura the Hedgehog is the genetically engineered daughter of Sonic and Shadow. She was created as part of Project Shine by a group of scientists who had each lost loved ones to Dr. Eggman. Originally designated S.C.I.O.N. (Synthetic Chaos-Infused Organic Nullifier), she was conceived using the knowledge from Project Shadow to create the ultimate living weapon. Her mission was to assassinate Eggman and, once that was accomplished, eliminate her own biological parents so her creators could use her immense power to dictate the world's fate without their interference.
The project came to an abrupt end when Aura's predecessor, who was considered a failure due to aging much more rapidly than expected, escaped his cell and went on a rampage. He destroyed the laboratory and killed everyone inside. In the chaos, one of the scientists managed to hide Aura before succumbing to his injuries. Only she survived the massacre.
Aura had a shard of a lab-grown Chaos Emerald implanted in her heart as soon as the embryo that became her began to form said organ. Her heart fused together with the fake Chaos Emerald, meaning Chaos Energy literally courses through her veins. Because of this, she is capable of feats beyond what even her fathers can do, but using the artificial Chaos Energy rather than a real Chaos Emerald leaves her physically drained and in terrible pain for days afterward.
Five years after her creation, Sonic and Tails discovered Aura when one of Tails' inventions detected an enormous outburst of Chaos Energy deep within an isolated jungle, far from civilization. Following the signal, they uncovered the recently-abandoned laboratory where they found Aura passed out from hunger and dehydration.
When Sonic learned that his and Shadow's DNA had been used to create a deeply traumatized five-year-old child, he sought Shadow out immediately. Neither wanted to leave Aura's side, and so they moved in together and raised her as co-parents despite their longstanding differences, wanting to give her the normal, loving childhood she (and both of them) had been denied.
It was Shadow who gave her the name Aura. He didn't want her to be named Scion or Shine, because he didn't want her name to have any ties to the lab where she was made.
Now an adult, Aura often comes across as intimidating because of her quiet, intense demeanor. In reality, she is painfully shy and struggles to express herself. She is selectively mute, speaking only on rare occasions, even with those she loves and trusts most.
Aura's best friend is Nightlight (he/him), her emotional support Chao. When she was still a child, Vanilla and Cream gifted her his egg, and the two have been inseparable ever since, even having their own simple sign langauge that only they understand. Nightlight hates that he comes across as cute to others, and acts grumpy with everyone except Aura.

Okay so yesterday I had two thoughts (yes total it was really hot outside okay).
Aww, why does Sonic get a cute little buddy but not Shadow? That's no fair >:(
Wow so many people who make fankids for Shadow name them Maria, that's so cute
So anyways...
One day, Shadow learned of a blonde, blue-eyed orphaned baby named Maria, and he crumbled. Of course he had to adopt her. What else did you expect him to do?
Having Maria meant Shadow had to slow down. A lot. But figuring out how to live a somewhat normal life, taking care of a little kid and running a household, that all has been really good for him.
In a lot of ways, Maria is to Shadow what Tails is to Sonic. She's not just a daughter but also a loyal little buddy who would do anything for Shadow. Besides, it's only fair that Shadow gets a cute yellow flying fox, too, if Sonic does. But since I didn't want her to be too similar to Tails in appearance, I made her the bat species called flying fox rather than another literal flying fox.
Maria is silly, very energetic, and kind of ditzy. But she has a lot of heart, and she's brave, selfless, and kind. Maria likes bright colors, rainbows, bugs, going to the playground, and anything loud, fast, or sparkly. She loves her papa very deeply but does have a habit of wandering off when Shadow's not paying attention because she wants to have an adventure. Seriously, if this was my kid, I'd probably put her on a leash.
Maria is also very, very sensitive to things touching her body. She has to have the tags removed from her clothes before she can wear them, and she refuses to wear shoes at all. Thankfully, she can fly, so there's no risk of her stepping on something sharp. She loves to fidget with her bracelets, and Shadow thinks that's her stimming.
Sometimes, it can be hard for Shadow to see Maria for who she is and not think of the Maria he knew in the past. But then she will do something crazy to remind him how totally different they are.

Another character from the AU! Maverick is the adopted son of Rouge the Bat and Wave the Swallow. He was abandoned at an orphanage when he was a baby. No one there realized he was a griffin. They all thought he was just a bird that had something wrong with him.
The orphanage he was in was run-down, and the caretakers were overworked and routinely took out their frustrations on the children. This manifested as both physical and verbal abuse, as well as punishments like having to skip meals. Being perceived as malformed, Maverick became an easy target, and he bore the brunt of the abuse.
When he was 5 years old, Maverick decided to run away. He fell down a cliff, and his leg got injured. By sheer luck, Wave found him, and she treated his leg. When Maverick told her where he was from, she refused to take him back there and took him home instead.
When Rouge learned of their new surprise kid, she was mad at first, but she got attached quickly and didn't want to take him back to that place. She made it her personal mission after that to get the orphanage shut down, get all the orphans somewhere safe, and make her and Wave's adoption of Maverick legal. Thankfully, she succeeded in all these things.
Maverick only learned he was a griffin a few years later when he was 8. He told Wave then that he wished he was a normal bird like her and not a weird one, and Wave was just like, "Kiddo, what on earth are you talking about? You're a griffin, not a bird."
Growing up the way he did, Maverick became very insecure and desperate to prove himself worthy of everyone's attention. Because of this, he sometimes does stupid things that he thinks will earn him admiration, so Rouge has to keep a close eye on him.
Okay I went to comic con yesterday and while I was there I saw this whole group cosplaying as the eeveelutions on the catwalk and that was so awesome, I really loved their cosplays! I'm hoping to take my little sister next year and cosplay as Bluey and Bingo together, or maybe Sonic and Tails :3
