Back when you were in the Akademiya Lantern Rite intrigued you. I mean everyone wants to go to Liyue to celebrate it and you are no exception. Sadly when you had proposed such an idea to Zandik he refused.. āWhy would I waste time?ā he would say. But that's fine! Now that he is a harbinger(And a high up one as well..) Surely he would finally go to the Lantern Rite with you right? ..Right?
Wrong. He refused again. Though it was much more logical then simply telling you that it was a stupid idea. āWith my status it simply wouldn't be possible. It would just ruin the entire thing if I am caughtā He said. You did have to admit it was a good reason.. If you had brought a harbinger to Lantern Rite then it would cause panic.. For whatever reason you were determined this year. After not going for years because you wanted to go with Dottore first you refused to take no as an answer!
āWell.. I am sure a man of your intellect is surely able to find a loophole. Perhaps even change your appearance?ā
If he were to decline again it would imply he wasn't able to..
You truly were irritating at times.
āOh wow! This is even better than I expected! Just look at the colors, oh and the decorations!ā
You said eating whatever Liyue cuisine you had gotten your hands on. The frown on Dottore's face was evident as he followed you around. He really didn't like being surrounded by people or the bright lights. Yet here he was in his disguise. āI can not understand how you can find this entertaining.ā He said looking around.
āIs it such a crime that I wanted to spend more time with you? I mean you have been cooped up in your lab more than usual lately.ā Plus this was somewhere you wanted to go since the Akademiya. You hadn't gone because of your studies and you really wanted to go with Dottore as well so of course you were enjoying simply being in his presence.
āIt feels like a normal amount to me,ā he replied.
You merely chuckled before something else captured your attention. āWe should light a lantern!ā You said grabbing Dottoreās hand leading him toward the booth. You took out your pouch of mora and paid for a lantern before leading Dottore back to a not so open and a not so lit up space to light it.
āI could have bought it for you there isn't a need for you to spend any moraā He said watching as he was handed the lantern he had to admit the sight of your face illuminated by the lantern was a pretty sight. Though he just looked back down at the lantern in his hands.
āItās fine, I don't mind!ā You then took Dottore's hands into your own, allowing you both to release it together. The two of you were rather quiet after that. Luckily it was a comfortable silence and wasn't too awkward. Until you broke it of course. āThank you.ā
It caught Dottore's attention and his gaze fell back onto you. āFor what?ā He really didn't see this as something that would cause you to thank him.
āFor coming with me of course. I have wanted to come here for years, I know I have been annoyed with it as well, and yet you finally agreed to come. I really am grateful for that.ā You confessed slightly fiddling with your hands. You knew that your constant asking of the Lantern Rite was probably annoying to him and yet here you both were. Dottore remained quiet for a few more seconds before speaking.
āOh please you shouldn't thank me for something like this. It isn't that bad, you are just overthinking.ā He huffed, crossing his arms as you smiled. Dottore didn't like being away from his work, he didn't like being around large numbers of people and he didn't like how bright everything was. But there was something he liked.
