[NEW MUSIC] Fjer - âAwesomeâ
As she continues to work towards her debut LP in 2018, Danish electro-soul singer/producer, Fjerâs new single âAwesomeâ is an infectious uptempo anthem for downtrodden ladies everywhere.
Shedding some light on the origins of the uplifting track, Fjer explains, âI wrote a note to my self almost two years ago that just said âAwesomeâ. I was feeling small and unappreciated and thought to myself, âYou have to remember that youâre awesomeâ. It took me a while but I finally sat down and  wrote a song about that feeling.â
Written, performed and produced by Fjer herself, the instantly memorable island-flavored track is brimming with overtones of empowerment and nudges aloof significant others to chime in with a welcome dose of positivity and encouragement.
âSometimes youâve just gotta tell a woman that sheâs awesome cause more than often, sheâs told or treated otherwise,â she notes. âThis song became a reminder â simple, but necessary.â
Enjoy!
Danish Singer/Producer, Fjer is back with the stunningly trippy visual for her latest single âWrong Timeâ. The psychedelically warped clip was directed by HalfManHalfMachine and features movement & choreography by NYCâs Roya Carreras.
Enjoy!

Lucy Camp returns with a gorgeous new visual for her emotionally powerful track, âThe Heart Diesâ. Taken from her new EP, Whispers (get it here), this cinematic piece is directed by Sean Finnegan and tracks the cyclical nature of self-discovery and outgrowing negative relationships. The synthwave-flavored epic was produced by Peter Anthony Red and signals a distinctive growth in her sound from 2016âs debut, Down Talk. Keep an eye out for more leaks soon.
Fjer is on a roll â with her last two singles (âBetterâ & Her Turnâ) featured on The Line of Best Fit, The 405, 2DopeBoyz, Spotify and H&Mâs editorial playlists, she returns with her heaviest single yet. According to the Danish singer/producer, âWrong Timeâ was âBorn out of that feeling of being in the wrong spot with the wrong person at the wrong time. It came out much angrier, raw and honest than most of my songs.â
Taken from her forthcoming debut LP on QUINTIC, Fjer layers âWrong Timeâ with bass-heavy breakbeats, a fresh assortment of sultry synths and warped feedback that explodes into a volcano of sound, sending the self-produced banger into the stratosphere.
Fjer has steadily been increasing her profile with every single release and âWrong Timeâ should only bolster her growing reputation as one of the hottest new songwriters on the come up. Please share, comment and enjoy!

Forward-thinking Danish electro-soul artist FJER, the moniker of New York- based Maja Barløse, returns with new single âBetterâ.
With a sound that calls to mind SIA and Banks laced with an upbeat, almost anthemic vibe, the singer/songwriter/producerâs raw emotional overtones mirror the introspective life reflections common to us all: both inclusive and yet isolated.
Produced by the Danish duo Nector, âBetterâ is an infectious alt R&B-flecked electronica pop gem that slides effortlessly between bassy beats and spacey lulls, showcasing FJER shimmering vocals to perfection. FJER explains how âthe song itself was in limbo for years until Nector boys breathed new life into itâ.
Having received support throughout the year from BBC Radio 1, 6 Music, The Fader, Stereogum, and Pigeons And Planes for work with the Danish Scandi-pop sensation KIll J, The duoâs production of âBetterâ further displays their commitment to creating a captivating sound and gives FJER the platform she deserves.
Speaking more about the origins of âBetterâ FJER explains how her approach to the track was âlike opening a time capsule to the pastâ, and explores the nuances of relationships changing over time. âI discovered that someone I was in an on/off relationship with hadn't changed one bit. There seemed to be this notion that we were just gonna pick things up were we left off - so it was written to remind them of how much âbetterâ we could've had it, had they chosen me.â
FJERâs last single âHer Turnâ was making the rounds after being selected for Spotifyâs Fresh Finds playlist with âBetterâ looking to further cement her position within the empowering female-fronted scene. With plans to return in 2017 with her debut album on indie label QUINTIC, we can only anticipate what is next for the Danish powerhouse.

New music and videos on the way from Fjer and Lucy Camp. Our 2017 schedule is mapped out. New site and merch coming soon.
QUINTIC continues itâs assault on 2016 with the latest offering from Denmarkâs triple-threat singer/songwriter/producer Fjer. The official music video for her sultry new single, âHer Turnâ was directed by Stine Thorbøll and inspired by the pixelated lo-fi visuals of Second Life. When paired, the video weaves a retro-heavy optical kaleidoscope to play alongside Fjerâs achingly sexy vocals and electro-soul production.
In other news, âHer Turnâ was recently selected for Spotifyâs Fresh Finds: Hiptronix playlist! Congrats to Fjer and the QUINTIC team! Now itâs your turn to watch & listen, share with a friend and let us know what you think. #quintic

QUINTICâs Lucy Camp continues to make waves with her futuristic feminist hip hop aesthetic (âSixteenâ has already garnered over 57k plays on YouTube). âBe Youâ is the second single released from her debut EP, Down Talk.
Produced by AJ Rice, âBe Youâ is a veritable clash of the titans, as Lucy tosses her magnificent flow into an aviation-grade turbine alongside labelmate Fjer (whoâs new single âHer Turnâ is making the rounds on Soundcloud) and QN5âs very own Tonedeff as he preps for the release of his Polymer album. The result is a silky blend of ethereal soundscapes, airy vocals and hyper-kinetic flows along a river of 808s. Donât miss out on this one and be sure to tell a friend you love it.

In 2014, Denmarkâs triple-threat singer/songwriter/producer Fjer was draped in old-timey housemaid attire and performing a conceptual stage show in support of her criminally slept-on Beautiful Home EP with her band. Since then sheâs been steadily working on her upcoming untitled debut album, but now sheâs back with a brand new look (ie. herself) and a brand new one-off single to whet your appetites for some Scandinavian-style electro-soul.
âHer Turnâ was written by Fjer and for the first time, relinquishes production duties to the capable ears of Lennart Rasmussen (formerly of Kill J). The songâs steely futuristic production serves as the perfect sound bed for Fjerâs sultry vocals dealing with the dual themes of embittered lovers and the fickle nature of the public eye. With limited opportunities for female artists, the question of âI know that itâs her turn, when will it be mine?â is a strong one. Is this a love song? Is it social commentary? Now itâs your turn to take a listen below and let us know what you think. #quintic

With her video for âSixteenâ currently cruising at just over 33K views in less than a month, 18-year-old Lucy Camp officially bursts onto the scene debut EP, Down Talk, which is now available over at @ Bandcamp.
This 5-track gut punch runs the gamut from darkwave to grime and serves up a healthy portion of juicy sub-bass, ethereal synths, gorgeous vocal samples provided by GrandRiggty & AJ Rice as well as the insanely intricate poetry courtesy of the San Jose artist herself. The sole feature on the project, âBe Youâ, features QUINTIC label-mate Fjer as well as QN5âs Tonedeff with a highly technical vocal performance performed with suave gusto. Itâs a stellar debut that will have you deeply excited for whatâs next. Be sure to tell a friend.
