Why Tumblr Needs to Freak The Fuck Out About The UK Situation:

Our government is bringing in policies that have literally resulted in the deaths of disabled people nationwide.  10,600 disabled people died in the last financial year due to benefits cuts, or withdrawals, and their being forced to work.  A mother got away with killing her autistic children. She herself was mentally ill, but a lot of media is suggesting her children made her depressed + were a burden. Because our media is shit. See below.  Many cases such as this are present, where disabled people have their benefits taken away. Then die.  Britain’s welfare cuts are effecting the disabled massively.

Our BBC is 80% right wing and people in the BBC have links with UKIP. This leads to anti-semitism, islamophobia, homophobia and sexism that is perpetuated by media. 

Our government is punishing poor people.  It is also perpetuating that poor people are a drain upon the economy, whilst MPs and Bankers get paid expenses for things such as hotels, breakfast, and travel. Oh and they spent 235k on wine for their Christmas Party. And 5bn of public money on leaflets with skewed statistics. George Osborne is cutting welfare. None of these “austerity measures” have worked thus far, and they just keep on cutting. Cities that are already poverty stricken are being further reduced. My city is one of the poorest in the UK and it has been further affected by cuts. Also worth noting it’s got one of the highest POC/immigrant rates in the country. Coincidence? No, it’s just racism.

Our NHS is failing the chronically ill.  And people with learning disabilities. (x) Several people have died because of incorrect medicines prescribed.  The NHS is also failing mentally ill people (x) (x) (x) Our Private care sector is riddled with abuse. (sorry for the Daily Mail article)

Ariana Miyamoto, The First Black Miss Universe Japan 2015

Miyamoto says she entered the competition after a mixed race friend committed suicide because of the teasing she received. So the backlash she’s received is nothing new and will fuel her fight to end racial prejudice.

“I was prepared for the criticism. I’d be lying to say it didn’t hurt at all. I’m Japanese — I stand up and bow when I answer the phone. But that criticism did give me extra motivation,” she told AFP in an interview.

“I didn’t feel any added pressure because the reason I took part in the pageant was my friend’s death. My goal was to raise awareness of racial discrimination,” added Miyamoto, who was bullied as a schoolgirl growing up in the port town of Sasebo, near Nagasaki.

“Now I have a great platform to deliver that message as the first Black Miss Universe Japan. It’s always hard to be the first, so in that respect what Naomi Campbell did was really amazing.”

“I used to get bullied as a kid but I’ve got mentally stronger, to protect myself,” said the model.

“When I was small I stood out and always felt I had to fit in with everyone. I’d try not to bring attention to myself, but now I say what I feel. I do things my own way.”

“I want to start a revolution,” Miyamoto added with a laugh. “I can’t change things overnight but in 100-200 years there will be very few pure Japanese left, so we have to start changing the way we think.”
