basically i want adler's android-ness to force the other 3 to contend with their humanity day-by-day

in canon he takes adler's android-ness in stride, like Okay sure. but i think when actively confronted with the little things that remind him that she's an android -- or, more like, things that make him FORGET that she's an android -- the questions nag at him, despite him wanting badly "not to care."

also i think about the line frm the atomos robotics database Every day about I-99 (adler): "’It did not just pass as human—it responds better than many humans I know already.’"

ISNT THAT CINEMA AS FUCK and i think that is SO true in district v especially. sooo many ppl lean on adler (subconsciously/inadvertently) just bc she has so much wisdom 2 share and is just a constant pillar for the LSPD and congruently the city as a whole. Life is so beautiful

remi is pretty disillusioned by the people around him, keeping a Very far arms-length distance from others so he won't get in trouble or get them into trouble, and when he finds himself relying on adler, trusting her, despite her not being human at all... begs More questions from him

i think he'd eventually come to the conclusion that oh what the hell, it doesn't matter about her past. what matters is the adler that i know in the present, no strings attached, what you see is what you get. and on that note i think he (headcanon ofc) would come to think the same for cortado and valentina, in regards to their pasts, and eventually, contending with his own tangled-up family situation..... eventually he can learn to let that go too, because what the hell sure

i dont rlly think regal wld be serious abt wanting remi to quit smoking. like yeah itd be good for his health and shit but he wouldnt force him.... on the other hand i think valentina wld pull random hijinks like stealing/hiding his cigs. But i wanted 2 include regal in text bc #partners for life

obviously chronic liar remington crocus has like 3 subtle hidden layered meanings, as follows:

1) "i wish i didn't have to succumb to such human vices like you" -> adler just drinks/smokes/etc for funsies and she doesnt have 2 worry abt addiction like remi does

2) "i wish i could just decide things on a whim like you" just snatching remi's cig out of his hand. he lets her. but it's like. adler is spontaneous like that all the time, saying "ok lets do it!" when someone suggests smth or "why dont we do it right now?" etc. shes a very wild drifting curious soul which is very different than remi who's grounded, pessimistic, sopping wet cat guy. (in addition, reminder that remi writes fantasy fiction...... it feels like adler might seem like a heroine right out of a novel, kind of encapsulating that 'free soul' that he might strive 2 write about in his books) feels like remi's one to deliberate or take the back seat on decisions especially if it's easier to sideline himself so i think the more he hangs around adler the more he'd become cognizant of it

3) Lastly, the most delusional: "must be nice. To be that cigarette on ur lips right now" LOOOOOOOOOL Omg so sorry. i dont reallythink remi would think that ACTIVELY but . like. can u imagine. JUST IMAGINE IT OK also no one gets 2 see adler's face let alone mouth so like It's a Possible Thought. Right guys? (gets pelted with rocks)

anyway i think 2799 is so sauce. 72 and 44 trail after remi like crazy so i think remi trailing after adler / at least admiring her frm a distance would be sauce Let the man pine a little

the existence of fateswap au begs the existence of 2799 partners-in-crime au. And so.

generally just based off the idea i made up that remi would narrate his thoughts like a novel... i haven't written a comic frm his pov so i feel like this is how you would tell its his point of view . the ripped scraps of paper and everythang... KYA!

especially i think if hes lowkey dissociated frm the situation (implied Killing someone) to kind of set himself apart frm the situation hes imagining it as one of his novels. something like that.

not certain of the exact circumstances of crocus working together w adler but probably something bad happens that wrongly implicates him of a crime and adler is there and instead of going to jail for life (the way that i headcanon his past partner got) she kinda swoops him outta there and now they're on the run

because i think she respects him (she does in canon but idk wat the circumstances wld be for this AU LMAOOO sorry i need 2 think abt it more), so it'd be a waste for someone like him to waste their life away in prison. something like that?? (<- didnt think too hard evidently)

also AU that she's not part of her gang (spectre) (iirc) and so theyre just doing random crime shit together. which i dont think he necessarily.... thinks badly of...... because he's not a cop anymore right so it doesnt matter to him. crocus voice NOT MY PROBLEM! but hes bad at it.

^ he was always told hes a bad cop (by his mother) (etc) but it's clear to most people in district v canon that he is a Good detective. so this is like his "first time" doing smth that hes Bad at.

i also wanted to get at the "choice" aspect: adler consciously CHOOSING to save crocus/run away with him. i think remi didn't get to choose a lot of things in his life, if ever, last time he tried to choose something (stick his nose in too far into business not meant for him, his partner got burned) and i think he's also not used to the feeling of Someone Else CHOOSING him. and taking care of him when he's down. he is not sure how to deal with this.

in addition: adler got to choose her family (her mother, her gang, etc.) meanwhile, remi was born into a family who doesn't care about him very much and vice versa. so also the concept of him 'choosing' a family is very new to him when to adler it comes easy as day

and adler is not easily swayed, of course, she made up her mind very matter-of-factly and so nothing remi says can really convince her to just leave him. not when he's like this, anyway.

is it not romantic as hell to say "you're MY personal liability"

"you're getting soap in my eyes" She is absolutely not. He is just tearing up and needs to make an excuse about it. She probably believes that lie though.

i think the image of them being on the run hopping frm shitty motel to shitty motel across the country is kinda #awesomesauce and i think he never really gets used to the crime aspect but adler doesn't mind either. he's still alive and kicking and she's good at it and this is what she does best, so she's doing what's in her power to keep him as safe as she can

notes (this might not make sense bc its 7am and i need sleep BAD)

for the record ofc 44's reasons for staying in los santos r way more complex - she signs off her last article with "the job's not done." it feels like despite the hurt & pain she did find a part of herself in los santos, and i find it fun that she decides to stay with the ghosts of her friends in the city, as a police officer, while 27 also returns to his ghosts - his family on the east coast.

44 seems like a very adaptable, resilient person who can easily acclimate to new environments, so i also think its interesting that she decides actively to stay, knowing full well that the people on the force that she was closest to are going.

in addition, valentina is a pretty soft, empathetic individual..... buying cars for ppl in attempt to lower carjacking rates, giving money to gangs bc she feels sorry for them, sticking around when she really doesn't have to (or should.) i think her developing empathy for the budding city is soooo sweet and so good and so she sticks around, regardless of the hurt or pain she experienced here

i think a big message that's carried in the district V lspd is: change is good, change is inevitable, but you are the one who carries the torch in making sure change is going the right way.

in 7299 that's shown pretty on-the-nose with adler leaving, cortado also going his own separate ways.

but i think crocus being entrenched in his family troubles, again, and valentina staying in one place (when it seems like she'd gain more by leaving) really adds another dimension to that message

like valentina is making the best of her situation, for the greater good of reforming the city...

and crocus is returning to the east coast now with cortado and blanks in tow, so now maybe things will be different, and they'll be good for once, and he'll have something to look forward to...

anyway i do think 44 is still PISSED ASF with him. 27 knows this so he doesnt ask abt her more volatile texts (abt hating him and hoping he'll be unhappy forever. see valentina final day)

imagine theres like a letter opener on the desk shes leaned up on LOL

i just quickly looked at an escape sim room and went off that LOL. i saw the butterfly displays and ran with it. butterflies ofc signifying metamorphosis/change/freedom, to an extent, and well. escape The Room. Valentina and Crocus r both trying to escape something. (themselves?) (LOL!!!) im reading so much into this guys.

but anyway i think the taxidermied butterflies r more symbolism of that captivity, that stock-still-ness that valentina and crocus are afraid of. i feel like lingering too long makes them anxious (crocus especially, bro is avoidant as all hell and WILL push everyone away frm him

also i like the detail of crocus JUST NOW asking valentina Oh yeah hahah so where did u go after all that . Like i think he really did want to ask but it was . really awkward before. LOL

i also think 44 is messing w him.. LOL.. bc obviously HE is not the reason shes staying in los santos. but she wants to fuck w him. like. yeah see look wat u did. and yknow what she did start smoking bc of him though so maybe he plays a bigger role in this than i thought but hey

i rlly do think abt ruze talking abt how remi is Very scared in lots of situations. hes not lying abt that. but he knows how to use it to his advantage... so same thing here as his anxiety in the VU. hes not playing it up but Yknow

also the butterflies turning purple w heart patternz was intentional...

and the room turning white. awesome!

do u ever think abt how crocus's fav color is purple and he was frustrated all throughout district v abt not finding purple things but Valentina Van Voughn is very purple. Ngl. Her eyes... (and also cortado's eyes, Incidentally)
