qifrey as a character is so complex and deep and I love when I see people point out things that I didn't even know because I haven't yet watched the anime.
I love him so, so much, especially because he's so much more morally grey and complicated compared to other similar characters. Personally, I contrast him to Aizawa a lot, because they're so similar, even down to their problem child's basic origin story, but they as characters have little differences that make them so unique.
This point specifically is so intriguing to me. Again, I'm still manga-only.
We've seen Qifrey protect the girls in so many different ways, whether it's shielding them from the brimmed caps with his literal body, even when badly injured, or teaching them which mountain apples are safe to eat and which aren't.
this adds another layer to it. Just trusting that Qifrey will keep them safe from living threats (brimmed caps, the knights moralis, etc.) should be a given, because he's their guardian. The intensity and scale at which he does so are impressive, sure, but it's still expected.
If I were agott, clinging to qifrey that high in the sky, my brain would probably refuse to move at all. Where she simply lets him keep them from falling off the cliff, I would probably struggle and make it worse.
Qifrey doesn't look like he's that physically strong. His slender little twink self been a meme for years now because of it. agott's trust in him is so impressive, at least to me, because even though she probably knows that Qifrey may not be physically strong enough to catch her if she falls, he is quick and smart and good enough with magic to not necessarily need to.
She trusts that her safety is a priority, and she trusts that Qifrey is capable and skilled enough to ensure that safety, regardless of circumstance, regardless of appearance.
It just adds another layer to his complexity.
I will always be absolutely feral over this fandom, I think. Especially over Qifrey. I could rant about him for hours.
