Isn't it fucking insane that so many people think that IQs are real. Like people genuinely believe you are born with one set level of intelligence that can be measured on a scale from 1 to ~200. As if intelligence wasn't extremely nuanced and completely subjective. And the fact that the majority of scientists that have advocated for IQ tests in the past have been eugenicists doesn't seem to concern anyone either

Btw, that idea that privilege makes you morally evil and suffering makes you morally good is just repackaged versions of the Christian concepts of the evils of luxury and the holiness of martyrdom. Hope this helps!

This is at the root of why some marginalized ppl who still hold some form of privilege (eg TME trans people, or white trans women [full disclosure I am a white trans woman]) freak the fuck out as if they’ve been mortally wounded when they are confronted with the fact that they hold some sliver of privilege. In their minds, they are marginalized, which means they always occupy the morally good “victim” position. So when they are confronted with a reminder of their privilege (even if is small) they feel like they are being told they are actually the oppressor and are thus morally evil and a bad person. But that’s not what having privilege means!!

But you can’t have a productive discussion with someone who is freaking out over what they perceive as a moral insult, so instead of having those productive discussions we end up having to deal with wounded egos of ppl who already have it a little easier than others.
