Before his sacrifice to Mannimarco, Cynares fought for the Ebonheart Pact. The room was always alight when old Cyn was there, laughter never failing to erupt from the soldiers who surrounded him. Back home, he had a wife who he loved more than anything. Whenever he was home, he would bring her gifts, cards, flowers... anything she desired. The kind of love where you want it to be life-long; where you have children—or in Cynares's case, want to—and love one another until you're grey... Returning one night from deployment, Cynares walked in on his wife having an affair. He panicked, believing the stranger's a threat, and attempted to attack him. Taunted for this and incredibly distraught, he tossed down his wedding ring and fled into the wilderness. The Worm Cult subsequently captured him, though he refused to go down. He fought relentlessly, slaying several of Mannimarco's men, only finding himself bound in chains when his flame burnt out. Even on the altar, he battled against the necromancer: Cyn failed to recognise he was fighting for nothing. Eventually, he weakened, his body half-singed. The next time he opened his eyes, he was imprisoned in Coldharbour.
