as a person of colour, and of the lgbt+ community, i think that people should understand what this word may have meant to people who went through struggles, so that we could live in a better place.

because, to them, this word isn’t playful. it’s not a term that you describe in a positive light.

it’s a slur. it means weird, unnatural, bizarre etc. it’s derogatory.

and i doubt those people, wherever they may be, would want to see a world that they worked so hard to make better, call them things that they tried so hard to destroy.

this isn’t about what we call ourselves now.
