I reject "high school are the best years of your life".

I reject teaching teenagers and young adults that life is a 5-year timer on the clock that ends before 30.

I reject teaching teenagers and young adults that they're doomed and defined by a mistake and/or tragedy in their first years of life.

I reject young adults letting go of their hopes and dreams of finding and experiencing love after their first teen love ended badly.

life has this funny little habit of happening even when you feel like it's not.

a wise fictional character once said: in real life your history doesn't have to dictate your destiny.

and a real life wise man once said: it ain't no sin to be glad you're alive.

some stories can be used as inspiration for real life, others employ literary concepts that only make sense in literary narratives and that's it.

half of this fandom will go crazy over the doomed trope, the other half will see a more hopeful, realistic ending. it is what it is.

whatever you think of that, that's fine, as long as you know that doesn't define anything. as long as you know you're not doomed. and that's a wonderful beautiful realization to have and cherish.
