Neo-Gotham descent lore:
Bruce Wayne hangs up the cape due to unknown circumstances. A few of his proteges attempt to fill the space, but none of them quite take to the Batman mantle.
Gotham sees an uptick in crime. Other heroes do their best to keep an eye out, but the world is large and they all have their responsibilities.
Several vigilantes pop up in the wake of Batman's absence. One such is a former criminal by the nickname "Stitches".
Several of these vigilantes go rogue and become murderers in their own right. Politicians begin a crack down on vigilante justice, with cops doing more to stop the vigilantes than the criminals.
Organized crime increases, making deals with corporations to protect assets. Powers Tech is one such company.
A number of outwardly terrible Mayors make things worse, and then there's the charismatic bastards. They make everyone believe they're great, only to set the world on fire behind everyone's back. Gotham begins new infrastructure projects to "push them into the future" and provide jobs for the tanking economy. Job loss is due to a steep increase in AI usage.
This just covers up a ton of corruption and creates the eventual tier system where everyone at street level were the poorest and those in their glitzy penthouses were the richest.
At street level, poor kids try to grasp at some amount of control. The Joker becomes an icon of anarchy, the only way to show the Man who's boss. It devolves from there.
AI tech is the norm and cybernetic implants become popular from the low levels to the rich. Anyone who can get an implant has an edge on everyone else. Black market implants cause severe medical complications no one wants to talk about because they're the same things the rich people are using.
(Brother Eye takes advantage of this later on)
Powers Tech forces a merger with Wayne Enterprises and reduces many of Wayne's rehabilitation projects.

With that said I'm thinking about... Complications. What if there's certain like maintenance that's gotta be done on cybernetic components that he usually gets every 3 months or so because of how he even got them. And what if in modern day cause they haven't gotten that far yet whatever is usually done can't be taken care of and Terry starts to show a decline. Idk what that would look like but consider... 👁️

"whm??--" Barry mumbled, as he in the middle of enjoying his fourth club sandwich. A much needed refuel after zooming around the world for anyone who needed assistance. "How accurate is it?" Terry said after a beat, forcing himself to straighten and make eye contact. Or as much eye contact as he could behind the lenses. "If I said I needed ya to go back to a specific date, is that possible, or is there more to it than that?"
