Welcome, I write things! Sometimes! Most times I half write things and leave the viewer guessing for the rest of their life!

Hello, I'm Jess (or Clara, whichever way you swing it).

Housekeeping: - This is a queer friendly space. I am one of the alphabet mafia (not the FBI, the other one with the colourful flags) and all my fics (hopefully) reflect that. - I write sporadically, and sometimes I forget to finish them. - Most of my fics I write to correct canon (ily) or to expand on something I didn't like/wished they did more of. So! You get fics like Quiet Birds which is a Criminal Minds reader insert which explores early season Hotch/Hayley's relationship (would recommend you stop reading after part 3 though, because whenever I go to add to this universe I end up finding myself at a dead end). OR Jess Garza, a Criminal Minds OC that's just having fun being bi with the team (I say having fun, she's all sadness and light mushed together) (She has an AO3 and a blog!). - If it's not finished, I may finish it. Ignore that it's not been updated in 2 years. Jess, Mia and Saskia do not live rent free inside my brain, their rent is writing fanfics.

I know Tumblr is full of posts about the virtues of commenting on AO3 fics and such. But like. It works.

I just knocked out 8.5k words in one single day for a chapter update because of one reader leaving one of the most absurdly endearing comments I’ve ever gotten. That is unheard of levels of productivity for me.

But also. I got a LOT of comments on my most recent fic, most of them from people whose work I love and have (enthusiastically!) commented on myself. I can’t confirm it, but I think some of them left a comment for me because I left a comment for them.

That was never my intention as an avid commenter (I started reading/commenting way before I started writing), and I certainly don’t want anyone to think it’s tit for tat. But I think it’s a cool bonus!

I’m finding the comments under this post actually really enlightening and useful as someone born in the 2000s. Some of these things i just never would have thought to consider - the plan B example comes to mind, and definitely not blue m&ms lol.

I’m currently dealing with the double whammy of being both Gen Z and not-American when it comes to writing accurate 90s America, so if anyone would like to add in the comments anything that is a (slightly less-obvious) tell that a fic writer is non-American as well that would be so so helpful!

While Im on this train of this show getting my blood pressure up: did they go back and watch their previous seasons before they wrote this show? Did they look at their current political climate before writing these episodes? What the heck are they going for with Elias (who is fun, Zach is doing a phenomenal job, but fun isn't a good unsub)? Why did we spend more time on the impact of Luke's grief than JJ's? WHY WAS JJ SO ISOLATED IN HER GRIEF?? NO ONE HUGGED HER?? THE MAIN POINT OF "hey are you ok?" Was EMILY OFFERING TO GET HER SMASHED?? why oh why did Tara PROPOSE in QUANTICO?!?!?!?!?!? work is NOT THAT IMPORTANT DO NOT PROPOSE TO YOUR SPOUSE IN YOUR WORK PLACE (PLANNED TOO!!). Don't even get me started on the current political landscape in the US and how the whole show turns away from it for the sake of keeping the audience. And DO NOT get me started on Rossi constantly saying evil is genetic.

Tara Lewis saying "one of our own went into WITSEC, it's safe" drives me crazy did not one BAU member bring up Hayley??? Did we forget?? If I were to break into this show and ask then theyd be like "oh but she broke protocol and walked away" YEAH CAUSE FOYET MANIPULATED THE SYSTEM this show stg I'd rather disappear on my own Gideon Style than go somewhere the BAU says is safe.

before we start posting that july is gay wrath month let’s consider that july is disability pride month first and foremost. the “be gay do crimes” memes can wait

before this post breaches containment and people start going “why not both hehehe” i want you to seriously consider the very long history of disabled people’s existence being pushed aside and/or seen as secondary. i promise you it’s not going to hurt to hold onto the memes and give disabled people space for visibility and celebration.

i say this as a disabled trans person whose trans identity is made front-and-center to the (mainly cis) people who know i’m trans but my identity as a disabled person is brushed off by the very same people.
