i'm a grade 8 flautist and i play the piccolo (and the second i can get my hands on an alto or contrabass flute i want to try one)

i'm in two orchestras (one is significantly higher standard than the other) and a wind band

i'm not an expert on classical music (especially not the theory side) but i like it and i'm a nerd about so i'd say i'm qualified to run this blog

I love that, like. He KNOWS the audience want to clap and so he's using them as an extra instrument. He turns around and goes hey, stop, and hopes they understand conductor gestures and it works, and then he has clapping he can use when he wants

relistening to an old concert recording where i had to do a solo and genuinely sat up in bed grinning when i realised that i had done the accel right in the performance for probably the first time

#the conductor always fucked with the tempo during my solo making it way slower than recordings for some reason #then sped it back up for when the rest of the orchestra came in #and i always fucked it up #BUT I DIDN’T WHEN IT MATTERED #mod's music madness #not an id

#its up there as my favourite orchestral piece of all time #certainly one of my favourites that i've ever played #i relisten to the recording of my orchestra doing it every once in a while and i love it #there's a really good moment where the picc and the flute have a duet and it was my first time coming in after like a hundred bars ofrest #and it was honestly exhilarating getting it perfect #and i love reliving that feeling when i listen to it #and its just such a good piece of music i love love love dvorak so much #like i make fun of my clarinet friend who did the bass clarinet for this when we did it #for constantly playing the witch's motif whenever he gets his bass clarinet out #but honestly i can't blame him its such a banger #anyway #just relistened to it for like the dozenth time in a few days and needed to get these thoughts out #not an id

fighting for my life in the woodwind group chat because i dared to suggest that showing up thirty minutes early to rehearsal might be a bit much
