I could hardly find any information online, so based off of some experiments and research, I made this chart for anyone who plans to trade fossils!  

You can get an infinite resource of Bird and Dino (Sword) or Fish and Drake (Shield) by spending Watts at the Digging Duo in the wild area, but you're more likely to get your versions fossils with the other versions being very rare; however you can attach your fossil to a Pokemon and trade it with someone who’s also willing to trade their fossil, and then restore them via the lady on Route 6!
