[ Race and Albert switch bodies! I wrote these two parts back in December and havenāt gotten around to adding any more to it, so I thought Iād share it here on Tumblr. I hope you enjoy it! ]
Mornings were always slow for Race, but this morning felt particularly off.
Just something about it didnāt feel quite right. Being barely conscious for all of ten seconds, Race couldnāt place his finger on what exactly was different. If he could just crack his eyes openā¦
Shit, the effort of it all. Despite his struggles, Race managed to look around, honestly rather bleary-eyed, but he couldnāt deny the fact that this was not his bedroom.
The fuck? Whose room was this? Race leaned up more to see his surroundings better, only to disturb the other person in the bed beside him. He froze immediately ā he thought he was alone in here, but again, he was half-awake not even a whole minute ago.
Race debated lifting back the sheet or waiting until the other person did it themself, but didnāt have to decide as the latter became true.
To Raceās complete and utter surprise, the other person turned out to beā¦ Finch? Not Spot, not Raceās boyfriend, no ā but instead it was Finch, Albertās boyfriend.
Why the fuck are we in bed together?
āFinch?ā Race managed to say around his confusion. The man in question only hummed. āWhy am I at your house?ā
Getting no response, Race shook his friendās shoulder a bit frantically. Finch swatted at him, his eyes blinking open. Somehow he only appeared slightly annoyed at being woken up, not remotely concerned about Race being in bed with him.
What the hell?
āFinch.ā Race repeated, earning the wanted eye contact. āWhy am I in your bedroom?ā
āYou live here,ā Finch replied casually, moving to grab one of Raceās hands, who pulled it away hastily. Unsurprisingly, Finch looked taken aback at the reaction, but Race was still freaking out too much to apologize.
āNo, I donāt live here. I live next door,ā Race corrected. āSo why did I wake up here? Why are we in your bed together? Actually, why did Albert let this ā no, why did you let this happen?ā
Now it was Finchās turn to look utterly lost. He leaned up all the way to match Race, almost making a move to touch him again but decided against it.
āYouāre saying nonsense, sweetheart. Are you sick?ā
Sweetheart? Finch called Albert sweetheart, not Race. Was this some weird cheating situation? But then why wouldnāt Race be aware of it? Seems like something youād want to know about. Unless they got drunk and did it on a whim, except that Race didnāt feel hungover. And even drunk, he doesnāt think that all four of them (well, Spot doesnāt drink) would agree to literally cheating on each other.
āAl, are you okay?ā
Woah, no, something was very wrong today.
āDid you just call me Al?ā Race questioned, finally turning back to Finch beside him.
ā...Yeah?ā Finchās voice lilted up at the end as if he wasnāt sure he said the right thing.
āOkay, fuck, yeah thatās cool,ā Race mumbled to himself, standing and walking briskly to where he knew a bathroom mirror was. He left Finch scrambling to follow, his tone concerned in every call from behind.
In the bathroom, Race flicked on the light and looked at his reflection.
Albert was staring right back at him.
What the actual fuck?
Race dropped his head into his hands, taking deep breaths. After a few moments, he felt a gentle hand on his shoulder.
āWhatās wrong?ā Finch asked quietly, like he was afraid of hearing the answer.
āIām going to sound insane.ā Race couldnāt quite say it yet, but maybe he could put it off.
āJust tell me. Please?ā Carefully, Finch wrapped an arm over his shoulders. Race had the distant thought about how bizarre it was to be shorter than his friend; he was usually one inch taller, not three inches shorter. āI canāt help you unless you tell me whatās wrong.ā
Of course he was right. That didnāt mean Race really wanted to say what the issue was. Hell, how do you say something like this? āIām actually Race even though I still look like Albert and I donāt know what the fuck happened or how to fix itā? Yeah, real convincing.
Screw it.
āIām not Albert,ā Race admitted into his hands before lifting his head to see Finch in the mirror. āIām Race, actually. I donāt knowā¦ā He gestured at himself helplessly.
āRight, and Iām Spot.ā Finch chuckled, as if it was a joke.
āNo, Finch āā Race stepped out of his friendās hold to look him dead in the eye. āI swear Iām not kidding. Please tell me that you can tell the difference. Right?ā
āThat doesnāt make āā
āI know, I know it doesnāt make sense, just,ā Race took another breath. āTell me you believe me.ā
Finch noted the clear desperation, but still shook his head. āI canāt, Iām sorry.ā
Race all but slumped in place. āHow can I prove it? How can Iā¦ā he paused, an idea hitting him. āLetās go to my place and we can see Spot and Albert, okay? If Iām right, our boyfriends should be over there probably having the same weird ass morning like we are.ā
āBut youāre myā¦ and youāreā¦ā Finch struggled to comprehend the situation, and Race couldnāt blame him.
āIām not, though,ā Race said kindly. āFor some insane reason, I am Race currently stuck in Albertās body. Why? I donāt know. At the very least, can you humor me so we can head next door? I want to check on them.ā
Several tense seconds later, Finch nodded, and the pair went about getting dressed to go to Race and Spotās house. Race mentally prepared for the image of himself (his body) already over there and attempted to craft some kind of explanation. Unfortunately, nothing was really making sense, so Race needed Finch to start functioning properly again ā he might know what to do, but he was in no state to think about it right now. To be fair, Race could probably figure this out on his own, but the help would be appreciated.
Albert woke up first, stretching in bed before reaching over for his phone. Tapping it awake, he was blinded temporarily, blinking away the black dots in his eyes. There was a groan from beside him, and Albert apologized as he lazily entered his passcode.
It wasnāt working. He definitely didnāt change it recently, but whatever. Wasnāt there some fact that waking up and immediately looking at your phone was bad for you or something? Maybe he could learn from that today. Just before Albert put it back on the bedside table, the lock screen photo caught him by surprise.
That wasnāt Albertās lock screen. Again, he did not change it recently, and he wouldnāt have a picture of Race and Spot on it, either. Experimentally, he twisted the phone around ā wrong phone case ā in fact, it was Raceās phone case, which meant this was his phone.
Why was Raceās phone here?
Albert didnāt get a chance to ponder it. An arm draped itself over his torso, locking him in place, and four sleep-heavy words reached his ears: āGo back to sleepā¦ā
That wasnāt Finch.
Albert knew Finch never spoke right away in the mornings, so the fact that this other person said anything at all was jarring. He couldnāt decipher who it was yet ā they were practically buried under a blanket ā so Albert took the chance to survey the dark room.
Not long after, he realized he actually recognized this bedroom, just from a different view, usually. It was Spot and Raceās room.
If Albert was in their room, and thereās only one person in bed with him, whereās the other half of the couple? Why did he take one of their positions? Surely not willingly. No, he loves Finch and Race and Spot love each other ā and yet.
ā¦What happened last night?
āRacer.ā
Albert could only blink over at the voice, who now that theyād spoken again was definitely Spot. He cleared his throat before asking earnestly, āDo you even know who youāre with right now?ā
āMy love,ā Spot replied with a softness of tone never before heard by Albertās ears. It was eerily off putting, especially since it was directed at him, and not Race.
āNo,ā Albert told him, hoping that Spot would recognize his voice and maybe just kick him out of bed or something. It would be better than whatever was happening right now.
āYes.ā Spot said with the slightest hint of possessiveness, trying to shift closer to Albert.
It was at that moment Albert knew he needed to get out of there five minutes ago. Why did he entertain it for so long? This whole situation was super weird and being the awake one, Albert shouldāve just left already. He scrambled to his feet, feeling very unsteady, and used the mattress to keep himself upright.
He let his eyes fall shut briefly, feeling vaguely nauseous from standing so quickly. Maybe it was a hangover, too? But no, they didnāt drink last night, and truthfully, Albert did not recall coming over to this house last night, either.
āRace, are you āā Spot tried to say, reaching a hand out to Albert.
He took a couple steps away from the bed. āDo you even know who youāre talking to? Who you are looking at?ā
As intended, Albertās words got Spotās attention. His friend rubbed at his eyes and sat up against the pillows, appearing far too relaxed for Albertās liking.
Spot spoke deliberately. āIām talking to Race, and Iām looking at Race. Should I be saying something else?ā
Albert shook his head, huffing a humorless laugh. āIs this some kind of joke?ā
āNo, Iām being serious.ā Spotās brows furrowed, and he moved closer to Albert but didnāt try to touch him again. āAre you joking? Because you sound like you were expecting a different answer, love.ā
āDonāt call me that.ā Albert shut him down because what the hell. āIām Albert, and I donāt know what kind ofā¦ cheating thing is going on but I donāt want any part of it, okay? Whatever is going on between you and Race can stay between you guys ā donāt get me wrapped up in it.ā
Then Spot gave Albert the most confused look heād ever seen. It took a while for his voice to work again, and even then all he said was, āWhat?ā
āIām Albert,ā he repeated, motioning at himself. āCanāt you see that?ā
Spot slowly shook his head and Albert groaned. It shouldnāt be this hard to tell the difference between your blonde boyfriend and your redhead friend, but here they were. Albert was two seconds away from turning on a light when Spot stood up.
āCome with me,ā he said, heading for the bedroom door. Albert followed wordlessly; if it helped Spot then so be it, despite how convoluted this was starting to become. Ridiculousā¦ if he was more awake, heād be making fun of his friendās apparent blindness because how difficult can it be to tell the difference between ā
āHoly shit.ā
Spot turned on the bathroom light and they faced the mirror.
Race was reflected back where Albert currently stood.
āSo you get why I literally canāt see otherwise?ā Spot prompted eventually. āI genuinely donāt know if this was a planned joke with Albert today or if youāre being serious, even though it doesnāt make any sense.ā
āI am being so real right now, manā¦ā Albert muttered, lifting a hand to see Race in the mirror copying him.
āOkay, that sounds like something you would say to sound more like Al,ā Spot explained, leaning against the door frame. āDo you see where Iām coming from at least?ā
Albert nodded, somewhat sympathetic. āI guess.ā Spot threw a hand up in exasperation. āCan we go see them? Race and Finch, I mean. Race should be able toā¦ā
āCorroborate the little story youāre twisting? Yeah, Iām sure he could.ā
āNo, itās āā Albert brushed past Spot, going to find a pair of shoes. Any pair would work, so if he could just find some thatād be great. āHe woke up with my boyfriend so I swear if he did anything to Fi āā
Suddenly there was a loud knocking on the front door downstairs, cutting off whatever threats Albert was about to spout off. With the knocking came a shout:
āAlbert, open the goddamn door!ā
āThank fuck, he knows.ā Albert sighed in relief, heading down the steps quickly to greet Race and hopefully Finch, too.

Okay okay so I'm kinda knew (I've been working my way through for over a year but didnt really get into it until this month lol) I have watched all of the suckening! Ive watched the riptide one shot uhhhh i forget its name i meant to watch riptide but aw well XD and I'm over halfway through the first season of prime defenders! So i havent watched much but i love it so far!!!! Thank you for reaching out to me!!!!

The Suckening was one of the campaigns that I started but havenāt finished (not because I didnāt want to, I just got busy with college and havenāt gotten back to it lol). And Iāve watched all of Prime Defenders, and I hope you continue to enjoy it! Any favorite characters from either campaign?
Iāve also watched Apotheosis and Wonderlust, which are both great and I highly recommend them. Iām all caught up on Riptide (even survived The Hiatusā¢ļø š) and I would recommend it as well, but itās sooo long now so I totally understand how daunting that looks.

Yesss ehhehe i love all the characters tbh but the standouts for me are Arthur Bennett the weylin twins and dakota!!! (I clearly have a bias towards grizzly characters which is crazy because charlie is the one i had a bias towards before i watched the suckening because I've been watching him for years lmao)
Yesss i cant wait to watch those! Theres just so much ahhhh but my mutual had me with vampires lol and then i was sold on danny phantom (william wisp) but I've been trying to watch riptide on the side lol my plan is to really listen to it on the drive to my aunts (its 4 hours away so that like 3 episodes gives or take lol?)
Iāve been sorta intending to watch the Suckening when the spooky season rolls around for the vibes, but I just havenāt actually done it yet lol. But when I finally do, then yeah, we can talk about it :)

in another universe, katherine and sarah are lazily listening to music as they peacefully coexist. in another universe, kath is reapplying her lipstick, sarah is scrolling on her phone on their bed, when kath is finished, she will join sarah, kissing her to test if her lipstick is "transfer-proof", she isn't smooth but neither care. in another universe, they are walking home when it starts to rain, and they begin to dance, the rain wetting their clothes, soaking them to the bone. in another universe, they are sitting on kath's balcony under the moonlight, sarah pointing out the few constellations they can see, kath barely paying attention, choosing instead to watch the beautiful girl in front of her. in another universe, they are walking along the shore of some beach, shell hunting and bird watching, their shoes in one hand, the others hand in the other, basking in the setting sun as it lowered toward the horizon. in another universe, sarah is patiently waiting for kath to come back their bed, watching her finish scribbling in her notebook as late night inspiration had struck
but not in this universe, because in this universe, neither know the other exist. because one is on a screen, and the other is on a stage

Some things about this post since getting quite a few notes:
1. If you see this post, highly recommend taking it as an opportunity to set a timer for 15 minutes and switch over to ACTIVITY YOU ENJOY. if after those 15 minutes, you want to go back to scrolling, that's okay!
2. Huge shout out to this popping up in my notifs often, bc I do go back to activity.
3. I think there are times where scrolling is fine. Right now, for example, I'm being connected to a machine for two hours to donate plasma and platelets. Yes this is a brag but it is also a time where scrolling is one of the few things I can do. (Though I will probably also read or watch something on phone lol)
