If your Dragons are Drunkards...

This may be useful for you. Also: tavern-owners, distillers, brewers, tavern-goers, lawmen, mercenaries, courtesans, etc. etc. etc. Have a list of the plants that can make alcohol in Sornieth.

Most of the items I have listed here are for use in wines, however, Sornieth does have a few wheat-like plants that produce grain. Grain is used to make stronger brews like vodka, whiskey, and rum. Wine and brandy need fermented fruit.

Please note that I am NOT an expert in malting in any way. Most of this has been gleaned from books, and as such is probably lacking in some areas. That being said, if you’d like to contact me about the malting process, I can link you to several good sources/share what I know.

FR plants you can make spirits out of:

Amaranth (a grain - used for stronger stuff like whiskey, gin, rum, and vodka)

So there you have it. I wanted to make a list like this for a long time, I may do a different one with the known recipes of Sornieth’s garnishes/sauces/food recipes when I find time.

Even More Flight Dividers

Why yes, I am working on these instead of other things I should be working on. They’re kind of soothing to put together. These ones have gradients (based on colour samples from spiral hatchling eyes) and drop shadows to make them extra fancy.

Since they’re gradients, I’m providing three colour codes for each; the first number is the lightest shade near the center, the second is a mid-range shade (taken from a little more than half way out to the tips), and the third is the darkest shade at the outer tips. I’d suggest the two darker colour codes as working best in most cases.

My original images are wider than Tumblr will display for in-line graphics (600 pixels, not 540) so I’ve also provided links to the full width versions for anyone who wants the slightly larger size.

Note - the originals of these (and other dividers I’ve posted) are not my work. They’re graphic rules found on the internet and modified to incorporate flight colours.

I was thinking about breedchanges, and it’s probably not an instantaneous process. and completely changing your very physical (and quite possibly mental) self into something entirely different must be terrifying. 

consider

-skydancers changing into other species, and being constantly suspicious/nervous around others because they can’t understand other’s feelings as well anymore 

-species that turn into bogsneaks or snappers going mad over their inability to fly, and feel crippled for the first weeks after their transformation 

-guardians turning into literally any other species and having an immediate and long lasting existential crisis because what’s the point of anything anymore? 

-dull coatls turning themselves into another species and moving to a clan full of said species, and being so overjoyed about their new found acceptance

-the sheer pain and weird stuff that must happen during a transformation. excessive weight loss with no appetite, or gorging and massive weight gain as they transform to species of different sizes. muscle growth and death, organs changing size. I know there’s magic and everything, but god. 

-mirror dragons changing and then panicking, because they’re going blind. without their heat vision, they feel very lost during hunts. 

-snappers not considering the fact that a breedchange will probably damage their near-perfect memory, and mourning the loss of memories with friends and mates long gone, because it’s too late to go back

-the differences in locomotion. how long does it take a once snapper to learn to fly like a spiral, even with a spiral’s body? 

-back to the physical change, we’re talking weight difference, organ changing, bone growth and restructuring. how long are dragons incapacitated by this? how many come close to death? or believe themselves to be safe and protect by their clan as they change, but a catastrophe strikes and they can’t even stand.
