Crispy bacon, caramelized onions, and the deep flavors of dark beer come together in this delicious Bacon and Beer Jam. It's a flexible condiment that gives your favorite foods a hint of sweetness and smoke. Spread it over burgers and sandwiches, or serve it as a tasty snack with cheese and crackers.
Ingredients: 1 lb 450g bacon, chopped. 1 large onion, finely chopped. 3 cloves garlic, minced. 1/2 cup brown sugar. 1/2 cup maple syrup. 12 oz 355ml dark beer. 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar. 1/4 tsp red pepper flakes adjust to taste. Salt and black pepper to taste.
Instructions: In a large skillet, cook the chopped bacon over medium-high heat until it becomes crispy. Remove the bacon and place it on paper towels to drain excess fat. Set aside. In the same skillet, using some of the bacon fat, saut the finely chopped onion and minced garlic until they become translucent and fragrant. Add the brown sugar and maple syrup to the skillet. Stir well and let it caramelize for a few minutes. Pour in the dark beer and apple cider vinegar, stirring to combine all the ingredients. Return the cooked bacon to the skillet and add red pepper flakes, salt, and black pepper to taste. Reduce the heat to low and simmer the mixture for about 45-60 minutes, stirring occasionally, until it thickens and becomes jam-like in consistency. Remove the skillet from heat and let the jam cool to room temperature. Transfer the Bacon and Beer Jam into sterilized jars and seal them tightly. Refrigerate the jam for at least 4 hours or overnight to allow the flavors to meld together. Enjoy your Bacon and Beer Jam on sandwiches, burgers, or as a condiment for various dishes!
