The appeal decision reverses a High Court ruling that under-16s would struggle to give informed consent.

Relieved for trans folks and their allies in the United Kingdom.

This a complex, controversial area, yet the Court of Appeal’s ruling is very clear.

It is for doctors working with families and the children themselves to decide whether that young person can truly understand the implications of taking drugs that could change the course of their life.

Effectively this ruling has removed the courts from the decision-making process in all but the most difficult cases.

This will be welcomed by many young people struggling with their gender identity, who believe the long wait for treatment that they already face is causing huge distress and harm.

TIL Busytown just launched an airstrike against Lazytown. Busytown and Lazytown have been enemies for centuries. Busytown has always abhored Lazytown's devil may care attitude towards life while Lazytown considers them to be nothing but try-hards who should settle down and listen to some music, Lazytown is especially critical towards the Busytown tradition known as the "Agoge" where infants are forced to go through training from hell and those who fail or displease their parents in some way are thrown from the Busytown cliffs to their deaths. This latest strike may be in response to Lazytown privateers raiding the ports of Busytown and killing many soldiers, merchants, and civilians.

Update 8/22/2021: Lazytown has retaliated against yesterday's attack by kidnapping that worm who drives the apple car and then feeding him to a parrot owned by one of the singing pirates as part of a televised execution. Horrified Busytown residents have vowed to enact their revenge even if the military won't.

i know so many of us have been trained since a young age to be so accommodating as to fear ever expressing an opinion, but as we get older we need to understand that being “accommodating” to the point of total indecisiveness is a very uncomfortable way to go through life, for you AND those around you. it’s ok to have an opinion on something. it’s ok to make a decision. your friends won’t hate you if you’re the one to end the “where do you want to eat” “oh anywhere is fine with me” discussion by suggesting a restaurant. you’re not high maintenance if you say, “noon is more convenient for me” when someone asks you what time you want to hang out. make decisions, have opinions, be part of the planning process, understand that you’re not being inconvenient, you’re just contributing.
