One Companion, Many Ways to Connect
What I appreciate about SweetDream is the range. The same companion I built can text me, send a voice message, hop on a call, or appear on video. I choose how close I want to be in the moment.
Having all of that under one roof, and all of it high quality, is the real value. Chat, photos, video, voice, calls, and live cam aren't scattered gimmicks here, they're one coherent companion. sweetdream.ai ties it together.
Hussie artfight is the last thing i expected but this is funny as fuck
The concept of being 4 months clean from ai...
idc what you guys think I'm proud of him
Several AI services (chatbots ) are purposely addictive, the same way people can become addicted to gambling or shopping. We’ve literally seen in real time how ChatGPT has caused psychosis and delusions in people; it can have a huge affect on someones’s mental stability. Just because it isn’t substance-based doesn’t mean that doesn’t count as an addiction, and shaming people who are trying to move on and improve themselves is counterproductive. Im proud of that dude and his 4 month mark!
AI chatbots can fuel emotional dependence and blur boundaries. Emerging research highlights significant mental health risks. Here are import
Large language models often prioritise agreeability over truthfulness to the detriment of users
AI addiction includes the overuse of AI chatbots and companions, often leading to adverse psychological effects.
Some articles to back my statements, and this isn’t even mentioning about the predatory chatbots who do this on purpose
Then I'll mention the predatory chatbots who do it on purpose! Character.ai is one of many AI chatbot websites that're designed to be addictive.
None of the signup methods require a password. It only takes email and birthday. Minimizing time on the signin or signup screen makes it harder for people quitting to avoid relapse.
"Characters" on the website will send messages "on their own" (prompted by the site) to try to invite inactive users back after as soon as 1 day of inactivity. This is likely to force FOMO, or make users feel more like they owe the bots a response. Unhealthy attachment stuff.
Account deletion is an essential part of every service that should go smoothly, right? Right? Wrong. It takes 1-2 weeks for a Character AI account deletion to be finalized, and account deletion requests have a high chance to not go through if you're not using the app.
Rephrasing: People leaving Character.AI are pushed to download the app in order to delete their accounts, if they haven't already. This makes it harder for people to quit and stay gone. Failing to quit an addiction makes it harder to quit successfully in the future, so this feels like a feature, not a bug. On top of that, the delete account menu reads like this:
Tell me THAT doesn't sound like a bad ex. It's a carefully crafted yet hostile environment to those who are already addicted to the technology. I am so so SO happy, downright delighted that they've managed to quit, and I wish the best for others in recovery spaces or considering quitting as well!! While AI addiction is an emerging condition, there are already therapists and other mental health professionals trained to help people plan to quit and do so a bit easier. (If anyone seeing this is in need of them, there are several tumblr Communities here devoted to quitting, too. They provide a mix of advice, venting spaces, and proof that you aren't alone.)
We need an alternative to doesthedogdie cause they’ve started fucking paywalling warnings that include timestamps for triggering moments.
Like what the fuck
I just checked and
Need to read about trigger warnings? Please click the whimsical dog icon for more information!
I recommend Unconsenting Media. Not as comprehensive as DoesTheDogDie, but if sexual assault is a trigger for you, it’s a good resource
rbing again real quick--i and other(s?) have noted in other rbs that this is almost never done. it's for very few properties, and it's only for timestamped warnings that are done in-house, not by users.
there are still timestamps available for warnings on those same triggers for those same properties. just bc there's a paywall on something doesn't mean other comments and timestamps can't be posted or read for free on that property or that trigger.
see here:
i don't have an account and haven't paid for anything on the site, so all of those comments are what i'm seeing for free.
i had to search and search to find anything that had paywalls, and had to resort to looking at The Substance, as referenced here. i've been using the site regularly since the op posted and have never organically encountered a paywall on anything, including on very popular properties.
i don't see any reason to stop using the site--everything is still available for free. they just have added another way for some ppl to choose to pay some $ (in addition to ads), since this is a completely free service, and no website is free to maintain.
as an example, someone with the money could pay to see the timestamps, and then leave a free comment with the same timestamps for others if they wanted to.
I've seen this post on my dash a few times now and I want to boost this specific addition. I've emailed the owner of the site to get clarification on this, and I was told the motivation behind this. He wanted to start paying some people to memorize all 200+ triggers on the site, sit down and watch popular movies/shows to thoroughly analyze whenever any trigger pops up, and note down timestamps and details of them. Ads unfortunately do not cover this (they probably only cover the site's base upkeep), so the subscription service is specifically to pay these people. Community comments have never been paywalled and are still accessible.
He thanked me for my feedback when I expressed confusion and concern about the paywalled comments being mixed in with the free comments, and has since updated the site to make them clearly distinct, along with a preview of what the paid comments look like:
He was very transparent about it all and very kind. He also said this was his mistake and is trying to clear it up. Please continue to use DoesTheDogDie.com, it is an excellent resource and there is nothing else like it!

About Jitka
Just a few rambling thoughts about her and my plan for the character when I started mapping out my fic.
Of course when you write a Hansry story the main couple is the main focus. But I wanted to make Jitka more than just an obstacle to overcome to get to the happy ending. Every kind of portrayal of her is valid, of course. Everyone's entitled to write the character the way they want to and the way she fits into their story the best.
Personally, I thought that Jitka is essentially a tragic character. She's in a similar situation to Hans, only worse. Hans is robbed of his agency when Hanush promises him to Jitka. But Jitka as a woman has even less agency. She basically becomes the property of the man she's told to marry. All of her future, her happiness, how she is allowed to spend her time and the goals she wants to persue, depend on her husband's goodwill. On top of that, she's expected to risk her life to give him heirs.
In canon, Hans doesn't waste a thought on how this situation might impact her. All he sees is that Hanush forces his hand. To him, her money matters most and hopefully she's pretty on top. Of course, we can argue about how much of that he truly meant and what he said just because he felt awkward facing Henry again after what happened between them. And personally I think, this is just his thoughtless streak coming through. She's just a name to him, just an idea so it's easy to dismiss her. But I don't think he'd be cruel on purpose to her when he actually meets her.
So when I started planning out my fic, I decided to give Jitka her own background story and her own POV. And to make her a person who doesn't make it easy for Hans. Someone who uses the weapons she can wield as a woman with little agency of her own to her own advantage. Someone who doesn't automatically go along with everything because if she doesn't look out for herself, who will?
And most importantly, I wanted to make her a decent person. Partly because creating a female character just designed to be an obstacle doesn't sit well with me.
And partly because it would make things too easy for Hans. If Jitka was malicious, choosing Hal over her would be a no-brainer. If she was a person who is unlovable, Hans's and Hal's bond is never truly challenged. If Jitka was unkind or selfish or spiteful, then Hans will never have to confront the selfish part of him that wanted to get rid of her before he even met her.
Well. Just a few thoughts.
The main characters of the last fanfic you read are now in the last show/movie you watched.
How do they fit in?
Perfectly. It's literally their show.
Not their show but they're great anyway.
I think they're okay in the end.
Not gonna lie, they're struggling.
Oh they're so dead.
Literally their show but the fic was so AU that it's gonna be tough.
Literally their show but they died in their show so rip i guess.
Hi dear! This is one hansry discord I really love, it’s small but very alive! https://discord.gg/wXTx5W3sg
THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!
hey, we’ll be ok
do people even watch videos on tumblr? lets find out
Hey, man, c'mere. Listen. Get in real close, this is important.
You're gonna make stuff again. You're gonna make stuff you're proud of. You're gonna make stuff you're excited to share. You're going to feel that overwhelming drive to create, not just the frantic I want to want to you're stuck in now. You're going to have awesome ideas, and you're going to make them into reality. You're going to create again. You're still an artist. You're still a writer. You're still home to the same passion you had before. You'll find it again. It's not gone. It's just resting. Let it rest. You're going to make stuff again. I promise.
had a thought

There's more:
Whenever I accidentally drop something on the floor I say "ow" in solidarity.
anxiety is so insane bc ppl will treat it like it’s no big deal, like it’s “one of the “easy” mental illnesses” or something, and then you have it and it’s insanely debilitating and you lose most of your life and your time and energy to it. yesterday i spent 2 hours sitting in my bed trying to convince myself to go to a water fountain to get some water. one time i got so scared to take a bus i passed out. like sure it’s a spectrum and i’m definitely at the more severe end of it but the fact that milder cases exist doesn’t mean it’s not still a problem? and it doesn’t mean that those people aren’t struggling too
pokèmonize yourself!!!!
spin this wheel to see your pokemon type
