someone's height is a neutral feature of their body. it is not a reflection of their age, cognitive ability, or right to respect (even though you need to respect the personhood of others regardless of age or cognitive ability anyway). being short shouldn't mean anything more than a factor you take into account to make an accessible world. short people aren't children, aren't automatically cute or funny or harmless - they're just people. it's honestly absurd the way people immediately lose any sense of maturity when it comes to discussion about height

I have had two entirely unrelated realizations this week and I would like to share them in one post because I don't really have a conclusion to either thought. im just yapping.

1.) i am so adverse to reading anything YA and I've realized it probably has something to do with the fact that i read almost the entirety of my small town library's YA section when I was child. I feel like there is nothing more I could gain from that niche lmao I've read more than my fair share of YA. im over it.

2.) cant speak on other demographics but I'm realizing so many trans men are insecure specifically about their manhood and that is just. not something I relate to at all. im dysphoric as hell, dont get me wrong. but the dysphoria is "my body doesn't look how I wish it did". not "I dont feel like im a real man" or "i dont feel like im man enough". and it makes for a very odd disconnect. and a lot of conversations get very weird because i just...dont understand it.

I understand the temptation, its a human thing, but I would really love if people in activist spaces stopped with the "well you wouldnt say A to B group, so dont say C to D group" because a lot of the times people 100% do say A to B group, you're just not apart of B group so you dont see it lol it makes you seem so ignorant

this also happens so much with media. yes, there is that type of bigotry in this genre, in that series, in the whole of Hollywood. no you are not the only minority experiencing bigotry in media. and thats fine. you dont have to be having a wholly unique experience in order for it to fucking suck, and you dont have to imply you experience The Worst bigotry in order for your shitty experience to be worth talking about
