Taking a stained glass break doesn't mean I'm bored. It means I was working on other projects. Take this bed for instance...sexy and big.
These last few weeks have gone by and I have had no desire to create anything new in glass. I suppose this happens to the best of us artists all the time. It does frustrate me but I rest assured knowing that when it is time to create, it will be the right time and I will create something awesome. For now, I suppose I will blog a bit, sit on the couch and cuddle up with the fur ball next to me.
Soon enough it will be summer, the waves will crash on the beach and the sunsets will warm our nights. Bonfires will smell up the air as the last few surfers crawl out of the ocean. I love summer and all the warmth around it.
the day
It is a Pink Floyd kinda day. All in all, it's just another brick in the wall.
Instincts
As I usually do when I finish soldering a piece, I admire and critique it on the table, wondering if I used the right colors. This is not the right process, because as soon as I hold it up to the light, I see that I made the right choices. Never second guess yourself; the first choice is always the best. It amazes me each time I lift up that newly finished piece how it re-affirms my love for glass and all the complexity the glass offers. What appears to be a very yellow butterfly on the table turns into a beautiful yellow and pink butterfly in the sun…just as I was hoping.
I entered Hendrix in the 2012 Annual Orange County Fair Art Competition this year. There were a lot of entries but I'm proud to say we took home 2nd place in the Stained Glass section. Hendrix did great! Of course I'm slightly biased and 1st place should be him but I was pleasantly surprised when I saw he was lit up and 1st place was not. Neee, ner, neeee, ner, neeee, ner!!! Kudos Hendrix, you still rock!! Might I just add, the foot long corn dog was heavenly!!
Wiring complete!
As humans, we learn. That is what we are wired to do. As an artist by nature, I hate technical crap. You want me to build a website? You are seriously out of your gore. Not happening!! Even I amaze myself sometimes. With a little help, and about 8 hours of patience, the website I have been working on a cursing over for the last 5 months is almost done. It's not 100% but we are about 98% and I'm thrilled. So thrilled I was wide eyed and bushy tailed at 7am working on it again. We do learn, and things seem to happen at their own page when they are good and ready. Dig it!!
I see you...
