OFVALIANCY
“ don’t be silly, of course we weren’t hurt. two-hundred calormene soldiers have nothing on us narnians — you know this, sister. ” smiling, lucy reaches out grasp her sister’s soft hand. she hadn’t come here to discuss the battle, however ( despite any inherent valiantness to her, lucy never relished or took glory in battles. they are ugly affairs, after all ), and soon her youthful, smiling face sobers. “ and do not worry a lick about missing anything — i want to spend time just us anyway.” she swings their tangled hands and walks further into the gardens. “… have you heard about what happened to rabadash? ” she knows she should have more tact with this, but she’s never been very good at that, even after all of these years of ruling over a kingdom, but she also knows that susan needs to know about this, and that, lucy figures, is more important than any delicacy.
“ no matter how much i trust you, i’ll still find a way to worry! you know this, sister, ” she mimics with a haughty tone, but it’s only half a moment before a smile cracks her facade. susan squeezes her sister’s hand, as always unable to ignore how different it was from her own. lucy is in many ways her opposite, a warrior queen, warm with joy and courage, and every bit of her shines with it from the tips of her fingers to her toes ( she’s learned that to tame her sister would be impossible, and especially an awful MISDEED ). rather, susan is finally content to swing her arm in time with lu and revel in her spirit. “ nothing would make me happier. in calormen i missed you terribly. even dear corin was a poor replacement for your temper. ” until, of course, HIS name stops her in her tracks. “ no. no i hadn’t. is he...? ”
