if the thing is bolded, then it means I have an active WIP for it and it's not just a concept. if it is crossed out it has been written and posted. as I update this with new things, I'll make them coloured so that it's easier to tell when I added new things. italics are for when I'm not totally sure I'll write it but I'm thinking about it

fop vs bedmintmack: the who's who of prema's most iconic f3 team and our favorite vancouverites

logan sargeant ! connor bedard

aka the reason i am making this analysis!

former golden boy who has experienced a fall from grace

i.e. logan having all of his crashes/not meeting expectations and connor with his many injuries

goes along with the idea that neither has been able to prove themselves in their discipline (again, logan being brought up to f1 too early and connor having his injuries)

williams in 2023 sucked, the blackhawks currently still suck

had to have done some truly heinous shit for them to have this bad of luck

logan being the lead of the championship in the last round/being the oldest of his f3 teammates that year and connor being the player all of the canadian kids his age looked up to (looking at the video of the 2024 canada world juniors kids talking about him is so sweet)

WASTED POTENTIAL

oscar piastri ! macklin celebrini

newest golden boy in their respected sport (well that's more kimi in f1 but oh well)

started out on a team that needed a lot of help, but was part of a major rebuild (2023-25 for oscar/mclaren and currently part of it for macklin/san jose)

fan favorite

huge dynamic duo with his teammate (tbh i feel like comparing smitty to lando is fair as well)

on the more introverted side, but their friends/teammates clearly bring out their true personalities

oscar and mark kind of give off mack and sid vibes

really cute teeth

frederik vesti ! fraser minten

lowkey the weakest link in my analysis tbh

my favorite corner of each trio

very underrated, a couple of late bloomers (at least compared to the other two people in each trio)

really growing into their own now

switching teams (and switching racing disciplines in fred's case) was possibly the best thing they could have done for their career (i love that fred is thriving in imsa omg)

fred being the only teammate who's house oscar has been to = fraser and mack being teammates at worlds

fred being the only one to compete/live on his home continent and fraser being the only one to play in the nhl on a canadian team

the most wholesome of the bunch imo

the only reason this doesn't fully work is fred and logan don't seem to be as oscar is with either of them, which doesn't exactly fit the idea that connor is the center of bedmintmack, not macklin

also i think personality wise, oscar and fraser are a better fit, but this analysis is mostly based on career trajectories with some extra vibes

if i were to do this with bedmintmack and the 2019 rookie trio, fraser is alex, connor is lando, which makes mack george? idk about that one but i also don’t make the rules

Ahhh Im so glad you liked both my loscar fics and these hockey ones! They are pretty different genres in my opinion so far, but that’s more just sample size for now I think.

I think if I ever follow up on the winner’s room fics I’ll make it jack/mitch. I dont currently have plans to do anything more with the vgk as I have a few longer mitch fics I wanna write and still my backlog of f1 fics to get to :/

The last two to leave the now much quieter locker room were, of course, William Nylander and Auston Matthews, the remaining two of the Leaf's stupid so-called 'core four'.

Nylander's face practically lit up at the sight of them all waiting across from the door.

"Mitchy's in the showers," he called cheerfully. "In case you were wondering." He giggled to himself like he was making some great joke or something. It made Jack bristle next to him, tensing up like he wanted to launch himself at the duo.

Matthews smirked at him, his gaze just as dark as Tavares' had been. "It was nice catching up after so long," he quipped, his stupid, smarmy voice grating on Mark's last nerves. "We'll leave you to the cleanup. No hard feelings, right?"

The Winner's Room was one of those archaic things about hockey that had somehow stuck around over the years. Despite how homophobic the League was — or maybe because of how homophobic the League was. The Room was about power, about dominance. It was about making the losers debase themselves for the winners' pleasure.

Toff, sat on the couch paused, thumb poised over the screen of his phone. He was fairly used to Mack's unexpected entries to his home by now (once Cat had given him a key it was all over) but even for Mack this was certainly an entrance.

"Mack, what—" he asked, blinking in confusion at Mack's clear distress (and lack of Will).

"I told Will weeks ago that I'm an omega and I just learned that he's thought that I was trans this entire time."

He knew he was being dramatic — perhaps even, jumping to conclusions — but this was a particular situation.

Toff looked at him for a long moment. "Aren't you?"

Mack's jaw dropped. "What?" he asked, scandalized.
