Hngggg I'm reading ch 71 again and I don't know how to articulate this but Hanako closing his eyes and expecting Nene to slap him, hit him, hurt him in any way

and instead being held and being begged not to leave and being shown that he is important was so painful and so moving. just. it was such complete and utter proof of love so unconditional it won't be deterred in the slightest no matter how many mistakes he makes

and it kills me especially when you think abt the fact that this was a boy that was severely abused for a large part of his childhood and had learnt not to expect anything but violence and hurt and pain all his life

and now is being met with nothing but kindness till the very end even when the proof of his mistakes literally break him apart

and after this the first thing he says is that he wanted to try living with her. that even if he knows deep down he can't do it he wanted to try. And when you think abt the fact that when he was alive he had given up hope of going anywhere, achieving anything, living through anything even before he so much as tried, it becomes so clear just how much he's changed. once he learnt what recieving forgiveness for once felt like, even a ghost like him understood the value in living, in trying, in loving despite all odds
