Secondly, Ninjago season 6 ! Would it still focus on Jay and Nya in your au or on Kai and Cole or someone else or something something...
Imagine Nadakhan wanting Kai.
But then again, Nya was angry for multiple reasons at the beginning of the season. Not just her love triangle everyone was talking about, but if I remember correctly, she hated it just being ''the girl on the guys team''. Since Nya was in the team from the beginning in your au, maybe she wouldn't have these doubts. What could Kai's doubts be ? He just discovered he is a water ninja a season earlier, maybe that ?
And now I successfully procrastinated thinking about Ninjago instead of doing something for school or anything productive. I am successful at adulting !
Firstly, there were two three TOO MANY quetions about season 6, so I'll put them both here. I hope you won't mind. (I might have missed some of them, so I'm sorry if I by accident didn't mention your question here)
Secondly, I feel great! I also instead of learning, I'm rewatching ninjago and writing fic's for my AU.
Thirdly I hope you have time, because this is gonna be LONG-
Yes, season 6 would be very diffrent from the canon and mostly focused on Kai & Cole's relationship, since it's very messy.
But it would be better to start form the begining:
The season starts with the fact that ninijas are now popular and Kai is now the part of the team as the water ninja.
As it is known Nya is part of the team from the beginning and is one of the original four. Also the love traingel here had never happened and all this time she & Jay are in a healthy relationship without any drama.
She doesn't have any reasons to be mad or flustrated. Everything is going well in her life, which we couldn't say about Kai...
Kai is now a ninja. Moreover he has just started being the water ninja and is still getting use to this power, while having his own doubts.
Of course this also coused a lot interested and light controversy in fans of ninja. So, because of it, Kai was later invited for an interview, which didn't end up well...
I don't think his situation would be as bad as for the canon Nya, but it still wouldn't look good.
In canon Nya had to face some Misogynist, but here Kai has to face Misandrist. [For those who don't know in very short: Misandrist - hating or prejudiced against men]
Kai would would have to unknowingly face one misandristic reporter who pretends to be a feminist.. Dereth arranged the whole meeting..
Kai: *is waiting in the studio impatiently*
Nya & Jay: *are behind and cheering him on*
Reporter: Welcome The Ninjago city! Today we're gonna interview the new member of the ninja team! Kai Smith.
Kai scratches his neck: Well, actually I've always was a part of the team. I just wasn't a ninja then.
Reporter: Oh, right. *chuckles lightly* So tell us more. The fire ninja is your sister, am I right?
Kai: Oh, yes she's amazing. I couldn't be more proud of her. *smiles*
Reporter: Oh, all of us know that well, but why weren't you a ninja from the begining like her?
Kai: Well, it's pretty complicated.. But in short then I didn't know about my powers. So, I helped in another way.
Reporter: Oh I see. Then could you explain us what kind of 'support' you were for them?
Kai: I used to be samurai X, but technology isn't my thing at all-
Reporter: Another thing stolen from your sister?
Kai very confused: Uhm, excuse me?
Reporter: Well isn't your sister an insinier?
Reporter: Your sister is strong indepeded woman, whom I admire very much. She doesn't need any man in her life to protect herself.
Reporter: While she with other ninjas were fighting against evil and risking thier life, you were simply waiting in a safe place.
Kai begins to have doubts about himself: ....I didn't-
Reporter: Would an older brother let his younger sister fight alone, while you did nothing?
Kai is slowly panicking inside: ...
Reporter: So tell us, what kind of brother are you supposed to be?
Kai has a mental breakdown: ....
Jay: *stopping Nya with all his might from murdering the reporter*
Jay: Nya, darling please hold on- They are on live-!
Nya tries to get away: Let me go-
This is very a very condensed version of this interview. [Maybe one day I will write short fic about it]
During this interview Kai has his doubts about being strong, good enough or being a good brother in general. Thinking he could do way more from the beginning.
"I could have done more-" "She's my younger sister"
"There were so many things where I could help"
"Maybe if I knew earlier..?" "I was useless"
"She's right-" "Why I had to be so weak?"
"I could have helped them form the begining-"
"I'm a bad brother-" "I should have protected her"
During the interview Kai's head was full of doubts and questions and in his mind he was panicking.
There was even one specific moment.. On the table where the reporter sat was a glass full of water and when Kai noticed that the water inside it started 'going crazy' he realised he needed to calm down.
His emotional state has a huge impact on his element.
He'd take a deep breath in and out, go with the flow.. and then as the Reproter would start asking another uncomfortable question Kai'd end up the interview with a smile saying "Yeah, my sister is amazing, isn't she?" He turned everything into a joke.
The water ninja wouldn't do this to safe his face on the tv or just let the reporter have her satisfaction, but because he noticed that Nya was about to burn something in this studio- So he went along with it until the interview was over.
After this Kai immiediately went away with his sister and Jay, so that they wouldn't make any drama on the news.
Nya of course was pissed, but her bother was more important, so she went after him to check if everything was ok. She asked him questions and how does he feel.
Kai, said good, but obviously his thoughts were somewhere else. Mostly focused on his doubts and feelings of being 'not enough'.
But he didn't say anything about this to anyone. Especially to Nya or Lloyd, since he didn't want ot worry his siblings, about such silly thoughts.
So later Kai decided to vent his anger during a lonely training session. In the meantime master Wu joins him. Kai being flustrated about this situation by this situation finally asked sensei, why he didn't tell him about his power from the beginning.
They started talking, while Wu trieed to explain himself, saying that his trauma would prevent him from even mastering his powers and would negatively impact his mental health.
The water ninja didn't those new very well and in the end Kai starts arguing with Wu. Sensei stayed calm and quiet understanging his behaviour and gave him some time alone. Meanwhile Kai stayed irritated, thinking that Wu made a mistake.
After that Kai was even more pissed and flustrated, so he came back to the training. His moves were more aggressive and chaotic than usuall.
After some time Cole went to him wanting to show off his new invisibility power. In that moment Kai hit one of the punching bags with water. It was very close to Cole and the water almost split on him.
Cole shouted automatically and Kai finally saw him and was terrified.
Of course the earth ninja rapidly apologised saying "I should have known better than to sneak up on the water ninja hah-" and tired to turn everything into a joke.
Meanwhile Kai was litellary horrified.
"I thought I'd me more usefull as the master of water. That I will be able protect him from it, but what if I'm actually doing more harm? What if I'm the danger?"
Form the begining Kai thought that as the water ninja he'll not only fight with others, but also make sure that Cole is safe as a ghost near water.
But in that moment Kai felt more like a danger to the black ninja.
Kai & Cole's relationship is pretty mess right now.
They clearly have feelings for each other and during season 4 & 5 they became even closer than before.
Both are aware of those feelings, but neither of them touched the subject of their relationship , which irritates mostly Jay & Nya since they are tired of that drama.
Jay: Why don't you ask him out again? I mean you know he likes you, so why you're doing nothing??
Cole: Kai just litellary found out that he's a master of water! And you expect me to just ask him out?? You know how he feels about water- and.. just no. He needs some time for himself.
Nya: So why don't you two finally go out or something?
Kai: Are you serious Nya?? Cole jsut becmae a ghost. A ghost! Do you know how he feels?! Nobody would think about dating in that situation. Are you reasonable??
And because of those problems they didn't even dare to talk with each other about their relationship.
It just stayed this way for long.. even if they were clearly in love.
Both Nya & Jay are very tried of this situation.
But comming back.. Because of thar small situation Kai felt even more insecure about himself and thought that he should stay away from Cole.
Kai tried to make a bigger space between them and avoid Cole as much as possible, which Cole didn't take well.
Cole didn't understand why the water ninja is suddenly pushing him away. When Kai tried to distance himself from him, he came to him, wanting to understand why he is behaving this way.
Cole also wants to comfort the water ninja, but it's almost impossible. He can't hug him or hold his hand.. And it flustrates both of them.
In the meantime Kai also went into the world of social media, where ninja had a lot of popularity. He was looking for opinions and what fans thinks of them.
This thread is only lightly mentioned, but is also important, since in internet are both Kai's fans and haters. He tries to deduce objective public opinion from the Internet, so as not to base only on this journalist who was actually happened to be misandristic.
He also likes posting some stuff on media.
So in the end Kai was either training flustrated or was in his social media account, while clearly ignoring Cole during this whole time.
Then few things happens..
Like the scene when ninjas were trying to hide behind a billboard.
They are forced to hide there and Cole wants Kai to take his hand, because he still doesn't know the air-jitsu. Kai declines his offer.
Because first of all- Cole is a ghost and he can't hold him (Cole just forgot) and secondly, because Kai doesn't want to be near him.
