the bravest souls in fan spaces are the people who selfship with a character that already has a wildly popular ship in the fandom. you looked at a tidal wave of fan meta and fics all pairing your fav with another popular character and said okay. but what if i was the one kissing them instead? extremely powerful aura.
Soft launching my yumeship with d3rlord this is my sfawtde oc, Claire is her outside of Minecraft and Selene is her avatar in it
both her and d3rlord come from a bird like species (that have wings as ears and capes which can turn into wings), the kingdom where Avery was stuck growing the flowers in was their kingdom where she was the princess while d3r was her royal guard. They were in love, but were found out and d3r got exiled out the kingdom for it (leaving him to survive on his own until he found the caves with the kiy)
shes the one who helps avery out of her trance as he was the first person to find her in years, everyone left her kingdom except for her because she was waiting for d3r to come back to her but he never did, not even avery could despite him promising he would bring him back for her. post dawtde the two of them are trying to move on by living a quiet life in a remote village, because she knows thats what d3rlord wouldâve wanted, for their wish was to always run away and live a private life together (They will reunite I swear if my life depends on it I just have not thought of how yet I swearâ)
In the context of Selene outside of Minecraft tho I imagine she was like Claireâs mary sue oc that she made when she was like 10 during her cringe anime phase that stuck (derek teases her about it even tho his username was also made when he was 12 and he wanted to be edgy)
Selene is named after the greek goddess of the moon as she is the Selene to D3r being her Endymion (how sheâs always admiring him from afar)
Claire is named that way mostly cause it popped into my head and I thought it fit her (and also cause it reminded me of an old friend I had) but I realized it also could represent Clair De Lune (which means moonlight in french), and her korean name Eunwol also means âSilver Moonâ. All 3 of her names mean moon, and Derek is her sun ^^
And yes Avery is their 3rd wheel both in and out of minecraft, in the case of in minecraft its even more funny cause its 2 beautiful ethereal beings in a fairy tale romance and then their 3rd is just a funny goofy slime man
I know we aren't moots but i just wanted to ask how you'd rate my Derek design,,,
So sorry if i'm disturbing.
Have a good day/night âď¸
hello! I have also seen your yumeship around and its also super cute (i always love how your sona/ghast princess looks especially, so pretty)
and I really like how you draw derek here too! this is how lowkey imagined derek when I first got into sfawtde (chud loser energy/aff) but I also liked the idea of d3rlord being like a pretty disney prince as well lolll, absolute peak love it

You werenât crazy. Somehow, some way, you werenât crazy.
DerlordeâDerekâwas real and in your Minecraft world. He wasnât just a figment of your imagination, a troller, it was really him. He was thereâresponding to you, building and living in your world.
And he enjoyed your company too. He truly did, despite your habit of talking far too much about things deemed silly or childish. He never minded. Heâd just listen, and when you agonized over it heâd always say something along the lines ofâ
âIt's fine. I like hearing about your interests. Keep going.â
He never failed to make your heart soar. He wasnât even flirting, wasnât trying to be cute or handsome or anything. He just was, and he had you wrapped around his finger.
As the months passed, the two of you grew closer. Despite the fact you two hadn't figured out how he was in your world nor whether you could get him out, you two still bonded nonetheless. Your days consisted of normal, boring work and college, then coming back to him. It was lovely, because he always seemed as excited as you were to be around. He was always there when you got back, even if either of you werenât in the best mood.Â
It was everything you had ever wanted.
Derek suspected something was wrong with your computer when parts of the world began to glitch.Â
At first he thought he finally was seeing lag in actionâchunks of the world staying gray, the villagersâ dialogue being stunted, all sorts of strange things. But then he felt it, truly felt it.
He had been sitting in the library you had built in the castle. He knew most of the books were empty, except for small pages of wordsâdiary entries that he would quickly put back. He wasnât supposed to see those, and he was honestly a bit terrified of what he might find in them.
When he sat down, nothing was amiss. He was just bored, if anything. Then, something was tugging at his chest.
He stiffened, glancing around. For once, he had no idea what was happeningânothing had been in front of him, pulling on his armor like that. He stood up, and before he could even pull his sword outâthe world gave way.
That was the only way Derek could describe it. It gave way and he was hanging by threads tightly wound around him. His eyes flicked about, yet all he saw was strobing lights and flashes of imagesâglitching pieces of both Minecraft and your computer. He grit his teeth and shut his eyes, pressing the heels of his hands to them. For once, his headache had stemmed from the outside rather than the inside, but was that really any better?Â
He let out a pained groan, one that sounded nothing like himselfâcorroded, staticy. A part of his mind noted that, but everything else was in overdrive and horribly painful. He wasnât even sure if he would remember that little detail later.Â
Then, he felt his feet hit the floor. He stumbled back, his eyes shooting open as he fell back into his seat.
Like nothing had happened, the library remained untouched. His breaths echoed in the vast room. After being visually assaulted by glitches and computer nonsense, he really wasnât relaxing any time soon.
For once he hated being right. Something was wrong with your computer.
âYour computer has a virus,â Derek suddenly said after a bout of random silence.
Your fingers froze over the keyboard, your breath stopping for a second. Then, you found it once more, though only to stammer out a small âwhat?â.
He sighed, his blocky character shaking its head. âYour computer has a virus. I donât know how it happened though, because I checkedââ
âWait, wait, you checked?â You stood up from your chair. âHow?!â
Derek fell silent, pausing in his chopping of a tree. You narrowed your eyes. âDerek.â
He made a soft noise, one of surprise, and it made you grin with delight. He did that, rarely, but it would always strike your heart as adorable.
âIââ He exhaled deeply, finally lowering his axe. âI figured out a way to get around your computer.â
Your grin fell. âWhat?! When?! How?! Whâ!!â
âA couple of days ago, the world started glitching. Enough to somehow give me access to the rest of your computer,â he explained, his voice considerably calm for something so insane.
âI havenât found the source of the virus, or anything that will help,â he finished. He turned to you. âIâm sorry.â
You stared at the screen, still standing over it. Your mind was reeling with the sudden onslaught of informationâDerek could go through your computer. Your computer had a virus, Derek could be consumed by the virus too. He couldâ
âDerek, whatâŚâ You swallowed. âWhat will happen to you?â
He didnât reply right away, his head turning back and forth as he tried to find a way to reply. âI donât know,â is what he finally said.
You sat back down, staring down at your knees. Then you sat up straight, clenching your jaw and jerking your chin up. âWeâll figure it out,â you announced firmly, âI promise.â
Derek merely gave you a grunt as you switched tabs.
Derek shouldnât be doing this. He knew that, and yet he was doing it anyway.
He had quickly excelled in traversing your computer, showing you a couple days later. When you applauded it, he couldnât help but blushâhe never was good with compliments.
But now he was excusing his next venture with the reason of trying to find a source of the virus. He knew damn well nothing of the sort would be in your computerâs photos.
However, Derek wanted to see you, the real you.
He hesitated at the makeshift doorway to your photos, his morals finally trying to pull him back. But his curiosity was too great, and he walked in.Â
His breath hitched at the array of photos, at your face. All of them were set up like art pieces in a museum, and he could absolutely see why.
He stared at one of you in a barâbeaming and stunning, surrounded by friends. Your smile was even brighter than he had ever imagined, considering he wouldnât use his knowledge to see you. He turned his eyes up to the date, three years before now.Â
He passed by others, old ones like that where you had bundles of different people around youâsome repeating, some never seen again. He almost tripped over himself when he saw one of you in a rather form fitting outfit, and quickly turned away.
He stared at the final picture in front of him, quickly noting the dateâmore recent, only a year ago. You sat in a plush chair with an acceptance letter as the main focus, but right now you were all he could see.
Your eyes were accented by dark circles, and your once bright smile wasnât anywhere to be found.
He frowned at the sight, and he turned back to the other pictures. As he walked back and forth, comparing the oldest to the newest, his heart sank.
Was this you nowâan exhausted hermit?Â
He crossed his arms, wondering if you even hung out with any of those friends from before. He doubted it, considering how long you would spend your time with him. You never even talked about them, or anyone that close to you for that matter.Â
Derekâs eyes dropped to the pristine floor. The scenario he thought you were in drew way too many parallels to his last days. He could feel himself overthinking, exaggerating the details, but you were stuck in a room on a game for hours on end.
He shut his eyes, trying to force himself to calm. But the realization that he was keeping you from the world broke him. He cursed, covering his mouth as his breaths began to tremble.
You were purposefully staying here, purposefully ignoring the rest of the world just so you could be with him. Part of him wanted to yell at you for your stupidity, but he knew that wasnât it. You were lonely, but he couldnât do anything about that.
Nothing besides talking to you, and keeping you attached to a screen. He couldnât take you on any dates, couldnât hold you when you needed it, nothing.
He finally opened his eyes, swiping at his tears with frustrated insistence. But then he stumbled back at the sight that greeted him.
That rainbow corruption, eating away at the walls around himâat the pictures of you and your friends. Derek stumbled back, and quickly sprinted out of the room.
He didnât stop, passing by every âsafe houseâ because damnit he was scared. He felt like that man again, when he realized what was following him wasnât human but worse.
Only when he sat at the most empty part of your computer did he finally stop, doubling over to catch his breath. That rainbow code seeped from beneath his feet, and slowly he rose back to his full height.
He clenched his fists, gritting his teeth and shutting his eyes. The pulling had slowly begun to ease away, but only now had he noticed it.
When Derek opened his eyes, the corruption was gone. But no relief passed through him, not a single ounce.
âWhy are you trying to teach me German anyways, Derek?â You asked one day, as the two of you built a cabin.
âWell, it's because that castle you first made is heavily inspired by many Germanic castles,â he started. âWell, I assume soâit looks similar to a lot of them, especially Neuschwanstein castle. Also, did you know that.. â
His words flowed like water, continuing on about the architecture and how they came to be. You wondered if he knew all of this because of the infinite knowledge, or because he was just so intrigued by it. Either way, you listened intently. You ingested his words yes, but soon you began to only enjoy his voice.
Because when he got like this, open and interested enough to rant, he was just so attractive. The cadence of his voice, the way it held confidence without being cocky, it was something that drew you in by nature. He was like a siren, only not trying to kill you. Maybe, or he knew exactly how he made your heart race and was trying to kill you with his stunning voice. Who knew, either way you would take it.
âAhâuhm, sorry,â Derek suddenly mumbled. âDidnât mean to talk your ear off.â
You jolted up, waving your hands despite the fact that he probably couldnât see you. âNo no, itâsâitâs fine! That was interesting, and..â
Your cheeks began to warm. God, you could bet your life savings that would sound foolish.
Still he tortured you, provoking you with a soft âAnd?â
You buried your face in your hands, cursing. âYour voice is nice.â
Silence fell. You wanted to just disappear off the face of the Earth, you made him uncomfortable and you ruined everythingâ
âHehehâŚ.really?â He hummed, stopping your train of thought right in its tracks. You lifted your head, opening your mouth to insist you did.
But your screen was glitching, rainbows dancing around like you were pressing it too hard. The world had dulled, and only Derek stayed in color.
Only he remained.
âDâDerek?â You tried, despite your panic.
His character glitched, tilting his head. For that single moment, he was realâhuman, not pixels.
He looked down at himself, then backed up. âIâmâIâm sorry! [Y/N], let me explain, pleaseââ
âYouâre the virus..?â
He inhaled, probably to reply, then sighed instead. You could practically see the guilt in his body.
âThatâsâŚthatâs great!â You yelped, your eyes watering in glee.
âWhat?â
âYouâre in my computer, youâ!â You laughed, grinning like a fool. But before you could continue, he spoke first.
âHow is that good [Y/N]?â
You blinked, your smile faltering. âWell, because you wonât be corrupted. You wonât..â You trailed off, the word die hanging in the air between you.
âIâm corrupting your computer,â he stated.Â
âButââ
âI almost erased your pictures! Those pictures you had with countless people who cared, I almostâ!â
âThat doesnât matter!â You snapped, grabbing the monitor. âI donât care! Youâre here, you wonât get hurt! Thatâs..â
Your voice lowered. âThatâs all that matters, Derek.â
You pressed your forehead against the screen, watching Minecraft slowly fade. Now, Derek sat on your homescreen. He was real, a true man in golden armor.
â[Y/N], when was the last time you went out with those people?â He murmured. You shook your head.
As if he could read your mind, he stated âIt does matter.â
âI donât know,â you finally sighed.
âDo you go out at all? Besides school and work?â
âWhatâs it matter?! Nobody but you gives a shit!â
He stiffened, his eyes widening underneath the helmet. â[Y/N]âŚâ
âDonât! Donât you fucking say it!â You sniffled, shutting your eyes to block the oncoming tears.
âWhy not? [Y/N], other people careââ
âNot like you do! Nobody listens like you do, nobodyânobodyâŚâ
You finally devolved into sobs, slumping forward to curl into a ball. You felt so damn foolish, sobbing like a baby without food. Derek let you, for what seemed to be a long while.Â
Finally, a tap echoed through the screen. You lifted your head, meeting his eyes from beneath the shadows of his helmet.
He flattened his palm against the screen, more rainbows drifting around it. â[Y/N], I donât exist in your world.â
You wanted to throw a fit at those damned words. You hated how easily he admitted it.
âBut that means someone else might.â
You blinked, and for the first time since you began sobbing your tears stopped. Heâd gotten you to stop crying out of confusion.
âCharacters are made based off of other people, right?â You gave him a shaky nod. âAnd Iâm just a character, technically. So that means someone who âlistens like I doâ exists.â
You wiped your eyes and shook your head. âButâŚbut I want you.â
Derek pressed his forehead against the screen this time. âI know. And I wish I could have you as well..but..â
His eyes flicked away. âBut I canât be there for you like you need, not like an actual person can.â
Your vision blurred with new tears as you pressed your cheek against the screen. You swore you could feel some semblance of warmth from it.
âCan you make me a promise?â He suddenly asked. You nodded against the screen.
âPromise me youâll visit Neuschwanstein castle, any of the ones like it. Promise me youâll go out, have fun, drink until your head feels like itâs gonna fucking explode next morning, justâjust do anything!â
His eyes met yours, shining and eager. âJust promise me youâll live your life to the fullest. Promise me youâll make yourself happy.â
You let out a sob, wanting so badly to close your eyes again. But you didnât want to let him out of your sight, didnât want to waste this time by cowering away. You wanted to shake your head, refuse the offer and just go back to being with him. But with the way he was looking at you, you couldnât manage.
âCome on,â he encouraged, âI know you can say it.â
You bit your lip for a moment, then released it. With a tremblingly quiet voice, you spoke.
âIâŚ.I promise you, Derek. Iâll live. Iâll live andâand Iâll be happy for you.â
The sigh Derek released was one of pure joy. His eyes crinkled, his mouth turning up into a beautiful smile. âThank you. Thank you, [Y/N].â
Code began to slither down the screen, slowly but surely it would conceal him. You returned to grappling onto your monitor. âDerek!! Wait, Iâ!â
Before you finish your sentence, it clicked off. What stared back at you was your own tearful face, your own red eyes and cheek. You watched your own eyes widen, then quickly pressed the on button.
Nothing happened.
âNoâŚno no..Derek..â You whimpered. You pressed any key on your keyboard, clicked the on button yet again.
Nothing worked.Â
You finally broke, sobs escaping you as you shook the monitor. âDerek!â
Your head thumped against the desk, tears hitting it as you continued to cry your heart out. His words bounced in your head, echoing like the last remains of a symphony in an opera house.
Just promise me youâll live your life to the fullest. Promise me youâll make yourself happy.
Derek was gone, again. Only this time he had been more real than youâd imagined. This time, he had been with you, made you promise him to keep going. It was surreal. The only thing that proved his existence now was the vow you had made.
Nobody knew he had been real, nobody but you. So you would keep him as real as you could, and you would live by that vow.
College had been tough, but you overcame and emerged with your bachelorâs degree. Those months after Derekâs goodbye had been rough on you, and for a while you really doubted you could do it. But his words were embedded in your head, and you wouldn't disappoint his memory.
You tried to rekindle those friendships from years prior. Some worked out, some didnât. The one that worked out was with a cheerful girl, Avery. She shared the same love for A World That Doesnât Exist as you did, shockingly, and always loved the way you compared her to AverytheMayo.Â
The job market was hell for the longest whileâstupid fast food jobs two at a time or just horrible work environments, but still you lived in the moment. Then, as if an angel itself had bestowed you a blessing, you became a flight attendant. How? Fuck if you knew, but you loved it. Sure, some passengers were outrageous, but the prospect of traveling made it all the worthwhile.
You had sighed in relief as you stepped off the plane. One of the other flight attendants, Benny, gave you an exhausted yet joyful goodbye. You waved back, your cheeks hurting by with how much you were smiling. Not because you had finally gotten off the plane, though that was one of the reasons.
But because you were finally in Germany, and you would visit the very castle that had started it all.
You were lucky enough to come in May, where the sun was the brightest. However you hadnât figured out just when to visit Neuschwanstein castle, considering the temperamental nature of Germanyâs weather.Â
So when you saw the weather for the next week was supposed to be warm and clear, you couldnât help but squeal and giggle in delight. You immediately began booking a tour, your fingers flying over your phoneâs keyboard. The week would be absolutely perfect.
But then it had rained Monday, and the minute you saw the raindrops your heart sank. Your tour was on Wednesday, and if this weather kept up it would be extraordinarily hard to do the tour. Or theyâd even cancel it.
You bit your lip, frowning as you slowly sunk into despair. Would you even get to see it? You had to leave at the start of June, and besides this week you had just one more left.Â
But you huffed, furrowing your brows and steeling yourself. The weather would work out, and youâd visit Neuschwanstein castle. You had to believe it.
The weather proved wonderful that day, the tour even better. The colors of the castle were exquisite, the roofs tall and equally as beautiful as the murals on the walls. The chandeliers sat high above you, casting a glorious light to the wonderfully polished floors.
The library was gorgeous tooânot too large to be overwhelming, but not small enough to be underwhelming. It had been a floor above, and the circular railing in the middle let you look down below. The shelves spanned high, windows letting sunlight pour through into the round room to see the old books. It wasnât just gorgeous, it was magical.
You stared up at the ceiling, the pink and blue clouds of the paintings above slowly moving in your imagination. It was just too lovely to not stare at.
You finally took your eyes off the ceiling, reluctantly but necessary considering your neck had begun to hurt. You rubbed the back of it, grimacing, then flinched at the sight before you.
Everyone had justâŚleft.
You whirled around, biting your lip. Shit, shit! This place is too big for me to try to figure my way out!
You decided to try one of the exits, quickly scrambling out of the library and looking around. Your eyes whirled around, part of your brain wanting to take it all in. But the main thought right now was fear, so you didnât take the time to admire everything. You simply rushed forward, trying to find the rest of the group.
Before you knew it, youâd collided with someone. You jumped back apologies already flooding from your mouth.
âIâm so sorry, IâI didnât mean to stay in there for so long andââ
The man in front of you waved his hand, smiling sweetly. âItâs no problem. The library is gorgeous, so I understand.â
You peeked up at him from beneath your lashes. He stared back with an endearing smile.
âOh! Youâre the assistant tour guide, right?â you pointed out, a smile blooming across your face.
He opened and closed his mouth, his smile giving way to something odd. His dark eyes traveled all over your face, as if you were something to admire rather than a simple person. Your heart raced at the way he stared, feeling your cheeks heat. He was staring so damn intently that it made you want to squirm.
Instead you waved your hand in front of his face. âSir..?â
He jolted, his curly blonde hair bouncing at the movement. You watched him practically panic and grow a dark red.
âIâsorryââ He cleared his throat and looked away, putting a fist to his mouth. âYeah, IâmâIâm the assistant.â
Your smile returned, softer this time. âThatâs cool.â
He gave a soft giggle, his eyes flicking back towards yours. He quickly held out his hand, finally uncovering his face to reveal the sheepish grin on his face. âLetâs get back to the group, yeah?â
You stared at his hand for a moment, then gently grasped it and nodded. âYeah. Letâs go.â
His smile melted, and for a moment you thought of a golden armored man with red hair spilling from his helmet.Â
hear me out derek being all yearning and touch starved for once, him trying to hold onto you cause he doesnât want to lose you, heâs literally on his knees for you and laying his head on your lap as he kisses your hands, and your surprised because youve never seen him like this before but he just wants to be in this moment with you, I need to see this man Weak I need to see him Pathetic and YEARNING
I didnât fall off the face of the earth writing this, whatttt???
shhh guys, this was all apart of my plan
ANYWAYS I love me a big olâ pathetic man đđ
I NEED me a man who is willing to drop to his knees for me without question.
Anyways YES I AM LISTENING đŁď¸âźď¸
Yearning!Derek/D3rlord3 x Reader
As always, probably ooc, somewhat short, yearning man, slight sexual wording wrote in a non-sexual sense, etc.
Itâs been a hot minute since Iâve last written anything so I apologize is itâs worse than what I usually write.
Never did he think heâd be this desperate to be near you, to feel your skin against his hands.
He could feel the world tightening around him before he could even get back home to you. He felt his breath heavy as he quickly opened the door, his eyes immediately trying to find anything that even remotely related to you.
He stumbled into your shared bedroom, finding you just sitting on the bed, seemingly about to get up at the sound of the door.
The sight of him made you pause however.
Derek, the man who was always one step ahead, the man who always held his head high, the man who currently had dropped down to his knees in front of you without a word, his eyes immediately meeting yours.
It was a silent plea to not leave.
To just allow him to have this one thing.
And you did.
Her let out a shaken breath as his hand crawled up your thigh just to rest at your hip, his head already finding its place between your thighs.
This man, who still looked absolutely gorgeous even when he was clinging onto you like his life depended on it, just let out the smallest noise, his body shaking as he let out a breath of relief.
âPlease⌠justâ just stay here with me⌠Just this once.â
He begged softly, his hands shaking as they wrapped around you, his nose brushing your stomach as your hand found his helmet, taking it off gently.
Now you could see the full extent of the desperation in his eyes.
Your hands eventually found themselves cupping his cheeks, just set holding him like that.
He shut his eyes, his lips meeting the palm of your right hand as his body calmed at the sensation of your touch, unknowingly leaning into it.
He didnât care about how he looked in that moment.
As long as he was in your arms and he knew that you were safe?

Derek shouldnât be aliveâcouldnât be, actually.Â
So why was he in the middle of a field now?
The sky was blue, bluer than anything he had seen compared to the limited view heâd get from his window, and the clouds that passed were as soft as pillows. They looked so easy to reach.
He sat up, blinking back the sunlightâclink!
He froze at the sound, whirling aroundâclink!
He realized then that the sound was coming from him, and when he looked down at himself?
Golden armor, akin to a Spartianâs, and a red cloak hanging off his chest.
My Minecraft skin?
Thatâs when it hit him, like a semi truck containing cement he remembered it all like he was reliving itâThe King in Yellow, the endless halls and worlds, Avery, their parting, and his own death.
Derek clutched at his head, ripping off his helmet and throwing it a good foot away. Everything ached now, just like it had before.
But then it disappeared, faded away as he tried to catch his breath. It never had faded like that, only came in waves, so he stayed on the groundâtense, waiting for the ache to return. The only thing that remained was a quiet ringing in his ears.
He stretched his hands, staring at the leather gloves. They didnât feel that bad, surprisingly. Then he shoved his hair backâit was tangled, just as he expected, but significantly longer now.
And..red.
He blinked at the strands in his hand, then slid his gaze to the helmet. It didnât have a plume, his hair was the plume.
He then stiffened at the realization that he hadnât known this right away, or anything happening. All he had was ringing in his ears.
Derek exhaledâNo use in sitting around, he thought, and got up. He grabbed his helmet and pulled it back on, slipping his ponytail through the notch in it rather easilyâlike second nature.
He couldnât believe it, he was in Minecraft! A boyish part of him was elated, but the more sensible part knew something was amiss. How could he be in Minecraft? Was it a soul thing? Whatâ
He grit his teeth, the ringing turning into a siren the instant he thought too hard. He shakily exhaled, his breath whistling through his teeth as he cleared his head. Soon, the nausea had passed.
Huh, I didnât pass out. Or fall. Thatâs good, he thought instead, and decided to take in his surroundings.
He was in a lush, green forest, and he could see redwood in the distance. The leaves brushed past, and the only sound that came from the simulated world around him was nature and its creatures. He watched a cow graze and a bunny hop by, simply starstruck by the beauty of it all.
Canât believe Minecraft of all things rendered this well, he thought with a chuckle. Then again, it always looked beautiful.
This was where his story started, anew. When Derek traversed through villages, the people were rather kind and asked of him. It became a habit of his to help them in exchange for shelter, food, and other things like directions and materials.Â
And when they asked who he was? He simply replied with the name heâd given to himself all those years ago..
Derlorde.
You sat in your darkened room, sniffling still. The last part of A World That Doesnât Exist had you like this for who knew how long, some of your friends even telling you to âgrow upâ.Â
They didnât get it though, not in the way the people on Tumblr or AO3 did. It was a beautiful masterpiece, a story of perseverance despite the odds.
And D3rlord3âDerek, he had your heart.
It wasnât so embarrassing by now, you had many fictional crushes, but D3rlord3 had just been wandering in your mind these past days. His intelligence, even before The King in Yellow, was something to die for. And his charisma? If a person in real life like that talked to you like he did, youâd be married by now.
But nobody existed like that in real life. So what did you do? What you did best.
Daydream, then play Minecraft, then go to sleep. You still went to college, sure, but Minecraft felt more important than that now.
You built, and built, and builtâthings that may be possible in real life, but never as wonderfully. You built everything from cottages to floating castles, fantasy villages to simple mushroom houses.
This new world you built had been in tribute to D3rlord3. Youâd built things you would think heâd likeâlike the aforementioned castle, only with secrets behind paintings and passageways hard to find.
But all you could do was re-explore it yourself, over and over again, and pretend D3rlord3 was by your side. Youâd daydream how heâd applaud your redstone usage, and how much time youâd put into this.
But when all was said and done? Nobody was there to ogle it. Only you were, because this was your personal havenâyour single player world.
Derlorde had been traveling on foot for some time. Despite being in a game, he still got exhausted from walking, hungrier than expected, and simply needed a place to stay for the night.
Heâd figured he could survive the night, figure out where the closest village was with too many thoughts and a long ass headache, but what greeted him had him almost tripping over his feet.
He couldnât believe it. When he stepped out of the snowy forest, the land was cleared for miles. What stood in place was a castle. A fucking castle!
He just stood there, like a little boy, his body bouncing on its own because how could it contain his joy? It was utterly stunning, majestic even. It seemed heavily based on the Neuschwanstein castle, a place heâd only heard about in his time in Germany all those years ago.Â
But his excitement had halted, because this wasnât something that just spawned in. This was created.
Meaning Derlorde was in someoneâs world.
And he stiffened as he heard you walk out of the gates.
Your hand stiffened at the sight on your screen.
A speck of gold and red, way out in the distance.Â
Iâm tripping, you thought. I must be delusional.
Still, you moved your character forward. Slowly, like you didnât want to investigate further because, well, you didnât.
This was a single player world, youâd know! So who the hellâ
d3rlord3: hi?
Your whole body tensed this time, and in complete shock you shoved your chair back. You grappled, trying not to fall out of it, then rolled it forward.
It was him. It was him! It was D3rlord!
âIâmâŚsleep deprived,â you halfheartedly mumbled, yet your hands slowly moved over your keyboard.
Y/N: derek?
Your heart began to race, your breaths quick. Your mind raced, then you finally caught up to it.
Y/N: sry, cool skin! rlly spot on
You held your head in your hands. What were you thinking? This wasnât the D3rlord, wasnât your fictional crush incarnate in a fucking single player world!
âSingle player..â you muttered, then seized.
d3rlord3: Yes?
Y/N: WAT HOW R U IN MY WORLD??? WHAT THE FUCK???? GET OUT DUDE
Now your heart was doing palpitations, too quickly, because a fucking hacker was in your world. That had to be it. Youâd ban the son of a bitch, get a whole new set up ifâ
d3rlord3: WAIT.
d3rlord3: Wait. Please. Can I just..try to explain?
Your cursor hovered over the menu, your eyes locked onto the username and the words from this player. The username was exact, not even a capital D instead of the lowercase like youâd seen before. The skin, now that you were hovering close enough, was the same as wellâthough people could replicate it easily.Â
Still, the way he typed, it was like an actual person speaking.
You exited, and despite a muddled alarm going off in the back of your head, you replied.
Y/N: fine. tell me before i ban ur ass.
Derlorde panicked. What the hell was he supposed to say? âSorry, I thought this was a single player world that I woke up in after fucking dying from a king in a not-so-fictional play?â
He groaned, clutching his head again. That ringing, it was worse now that this new player was in closer.Â
No, not ringing..a voice?
It wasnât The Kingâs, he could assure himself that. It was a personâs, a quiet and..alluring one?
He blinked rapidly, trying to decipher the muddled words.
Heâs not real.
Iâm sleep deprived.
Thatâs such a cool skin though.
They talk like how D3rlord3 does though, super full sentences and everything. Maybe it is himâ?
ARE YOU FUCKING STUPID?! ITS A HACKERâ
He stood up straight, staring up at this personâs skin. It was them, they were the source of the voice.
The voice talkingâthinking?âabout him.
Sadly, heâd decided to think about this too hard, and many things arose in his head unnannouncedâan ARG, him as the protagonist on a quest, Wifies the creator âfindingâ his videos and documents, Averyâ
Avery. Only being fictional to the world.
Derlordeâs eyes flicked open, teary. Avery wasnât real? No, no he swore he was. He knew everything about the man, if he thought long enough. He knew what he looked like, what his voice would sound like, he knew.
He knew Avery was real. Derek knew he was real.
He tried to catch his breath, his vision swimming as he cleared his head and tried to tune out your voice.
Finally, he spoke againâ
d3rlord3: My name is Derek Hutchins. Iâm the guy in the ARG you saw recently.Â
d3rlord3: Me, Avery, everything you saw in those videos was real. Iâm real.
You stared at the words, baffled. Then, you snorted, and burst into laughter. You couldnât help but let your forehead fall into the keyboard, and when you sat up you only laughed harder as you saw the jumbled mess youâd accidentally sent.
Y/N: wo1874ejdjwosn376;!dk
Y/N: SRY LOLL
Y/N: JS
Y/N: THATS FUNNY. ur not him, who r u?
You rested your chin on your hand, grinning to yourself as you finally managed to stop giggling. Did this person take you as a fool? How naiveâ
d3rlord3: You watched the videos over again recently. For some reason, Iâm all you can think about.
You rapidly blinked, your heart speeding up. Your lack of a response gave him room to type again.
d3rlord3: I wonder why. Am I that, what was it? Charismatic, you said?
You let out a quick huff, your cheeks growing hot. How did he know this all this stuff?! Sure, you posted about D3rlord3 way too often, but damnit you hadnât said that yet..had you?
Y/N: wow ok. stalking my tumblr?? freakyyyy
You leaned back, pouting at the screen. What a weirdo, stalking your socials like aâa stalker!
d3rlord3: Oh god no, I donât stalk socials. But if I did, what would I find?
You froze at the question. Besides the fact that he somehow read your mind, reblogs began to flood your brainâdetailed drawings of D3rlord3, then ideas of what Derek himself looked like, fanfiction where everything worked out in the end, fanfiction where youâ
You let out a squeak, jumping up from your desk and pacing your room. What the hell?! Whatâs wrong with this guy? Whyâ
âDamn. ThatâsâŚuhm, detailed.â
You whirled back to your computer, staring at it in shock. The disembodied voice said nothing for a long while, but then it spokeâas if he was surprised.
ââŚCan you hear me?â
âIâŚ..â You barked a laugh. âOh my god, oh my god Iâm fucking crazy!â
You slid back into your chair, sitting on the edge as you began to type.
Y/N: get off my stuff hacker, before i leak ur ip
But right as you sent that, he replied backâboth in chat and verbally.
âYouâre not crazy, I promise you. Iâm real, please. Just let me explain.â
If you could grow redder, you probably did. His voice, it was so clear in your headâsmooth, undertones of sweet kindness running through his cadence. It made your heart only quicken.
You sighed, deep and low. âFine, fine..âÂ
When you went to type your answer? He replied before you did.
âThank you, Y/N.â
And the way Derek said your name had you reeling with glee. It was so, so right coming from him.Â
So maybe youâd give into this madness, this obsession for a man who never existed, because there wasnât anything better to do besides that.
